BURT
We are sad to announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, ALYCE CALDWELL BURT, at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital, Lethbridge, Alberta, September 22, 2013. She will be fondly remembered by her daughters Kathie (Terry) Carlson, Melody (Floyd) Baxter, and Shelley (Paul) Aldridge; grandchildren: Shane (Kim) Carlson, Sara Burris, Spencer Carlson; Mindy (Graham) Kool, Chris (Joanna) Baxter, Robert (Daina) Baxter; Allison (Jeff) Gliege, Melody (Cody) Bennion, Natalie (Todd) Hollingshead, Collette Aldridge, Graham Aldridge; 18 great grandchildren; and a sister, Afton Scott. Alyce was predeceased by her husband, R. Dennis Burt in 1979; grandson, Tyler Carlson; as well as sisters Fern Smith, Florence Dahlund, Ellen Christiansen, Adelle Pierce; and brothers Grant, Lowell, and Hugh Caldwell.
She was born August 2, 1915 to Alvin and Minnie Ahlstrom Caldwell, in Cardston, Alberta where she resided all her life. Typical of Welsh tradition, her childhood home echoed with music. Alyce enjoyed accompanying well into her nineties, and by ear played any tune with magic on piano or organ (and duets with Afton.) The singing trio, The Caldwell Sisters with Afton and Adelle, had their own radio show on CJOC. This elegant lady, by dad’s side, hosted many receptions and special entertaining events at the Burt home throughout his political career. They enjoyed travelling, but most of all they loved their daughters and their growing families. Alyce’s handwork graces many homes. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker; a good listener with quick wit and sense of humour.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Temple Street Chapel, on Friday, September 27th, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
Friends may meet the family at the Church from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m. prior to the Service. Interment in the Cardston Cemetery.
