MRS. MILDRED “MID” BELLEW, beloved wife of the late Howard Bellew of Lethbridge, formerly of Milk River, AB., passed away peacefully at the Fairmont Extendicare on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the age of age of 91 years.

DAVID BRIAN SORENSEN
August 29, 1937 –
September 28, 2013
After an incredibly stubborn fight with bowel cancer, Dad has made his peace.
Dad was born and raised on a dairy farm in Creston, BC, one of eight children.
He is predeceased by his father Simon, mother May, his sister Anne Bjarnason and his brother Carl. Beverley, the mother of his children and his special partner Melody van der Walt.
Dad received his journeyman ticket from SAIT in Calgary. In 1962 he bought an old milk truck, packed up his young family and moved to Cranbrook where he started East West Refrigeration. He was a one man band and single handedly installed the refrigeration components for most of the large buildings within the East Kootenay’s.
Many will remember him as the giant with the red curly hair.
During his career in Cranbrook, Dad made a deal on a job and in exchange got himself a cabin at Tie Lake which was his pride and joy. Many a good time was shared by all compliments of Dad.
In 1975, he was offered the position at C & A Sheet Metal in Lethbridge to head up their new refrigeration department. The move was on. Come the 80’s, Dad decided that it was time for a career change, something that would ease him into retirement and so became “Dave’s Mini Mall” located in Nobleford, AB. He loved the small town environment and his “regulars” who came every day.
Rather than simply retire, Dad became the caretaker at Elk Sanca, a camp for children at Kootenay Lake. He had finally found the place he was supposed to be.
Dad believed that there was merit in hard work and practiced what he preached.
He dabbled in all kinds of activities, trying everything at least once from taking the biggest bobcat in the Kootenay’s at the time, to fishing, always wearing red cause “fish like red” to wood burning, wine making, cooking, you name it. Then came the Winnebago, that’s another story. He was a jack of all trades there was nothing that he could not fix. He loved the outdoors most of all.
He is survived by his sisters Kay Harris, Marion MacDonald and Barbara Dolan, his brothers Johnnie and Stan Sorensen many nieces and nephews, his daughters Katie Nagy, Tracey Sawatsky (Doug), his son Brian Sorensen and his precious grandchildren Catlin & Teagan Nagy.
It takes an army to do this battle and we would like to thank our employer’s, clients & friend’s for graciously allowing us the time to care for Dad during the fight. A special thanks to Ingrid Boudreau for holding the fort.
Dad was a simple man and requested that there be no fuss, he asked that we all get together sometime and enjoy each other.

KAREN REYNOLDS (MANSON)
Karen Louise Reynolds (nee Manson), wife of Dr. Brent Reynolds, passed away at home in Gainesville, Florida, on September 17th, 2013 at the age of 48.
She was born in Toronto, Ont., on Feb 13th, 1965, and attended schools in Lethbridge, AB and Brentwood College School, BC.
Karen is survived by her husband Brent, daughter Mercedes (Sydney, Australia). and son Nico (Melody) of FL. She is also survived by her mother Penny Manson of Lethbridge, brother Mike Manson (Crystal) of Calgary, in-laws Ruth & Dick Reynolds of Parksville, BC, brother-n-law Shaun Reynolds (Candace) of Seattle, WA and niece Haylee Pierson (Brody), nephews Joel Manson, Cooper & Brady Reynolds and great nephew, Sawyer Pierson.
Karen was predeceased by her father Bob Manson of Lethbridge.
Karen and her family lived in Calgary, AB, Salt Spring Island, BC and Brisbane, Australia, before moving to Florida., She succumbed after a hard fought, 13 year battle with breast cancer.
Karen was a gentle, loving soul and an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be forever missed by her family and friends.
A celebration of Karen’s life will be held at a later date.

KONRAD, FRANCIS “FRANK” JOHN
June 11, 1936 – Budapest, Hungary
September 29, 2013 – Calgary, Alberta
Frank, beloved husband of Mary Konrad (nee Nemeth) of Calgary, AB, passed away on September 29, 2013 at the age of 77 years. Frank’s strong love of family was obvious throughout his lifetime and was particularly evident during his last days which were spent with his loved ones close by his side.
Frank was born in Budapest, Hungary and bravely set out with his young wife, Mary, to Canada in 1957. They settled in Calgary where they began raising their four children until their move to Lethbridge in 1970. There, Frank owned and operated several businesses including Epicure Fine Foods and Delicatessen. Frank and Mary returned to Calgary in 1985 where his deli expertise was respected by first Safeway and then Co-op. He will always be remembered for his generous and kind heart, friendly nature and lively conversation. Frank’s contagious smile will be fondly missed by all those who knew him. Although travel, food and friends were a big part of his life, he was most fulfilled by his devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren.
Besides his wife Mary, Frank is survived by his four children George (Jane), Sue (David), Shirley (Shawn) and Francis (Barb). He will also be dearly missed by his four granddaughters, Kira, Madison, Lexi and Elizabeth. Frank was predeceased by parents Rosalia (nee Miller) and Ferenc Konrad and his brother Laszlo, of Budapest, Hungary.

McKENZIE
EVA RUTH CHORNEY McKENZIE, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, September 30, 2013 at the age of 80 years. She was born and raised near Langbank, Saskatchewan and had six brothers and four sisters. She was the first in her family to graduate high school and went on to become a school teacher. Later she worked as Credit Manager at Western Canada Hardware, and Office Manager at Kingsway/Motorways Transport. She married Vic Rude in 1954 and they had three children. In 1977, she married Jim McKenzie.
She spent several years volunteering with the figure skating club as test chairman and doing carnival makeup. Ruth created beautiful needlework and enjoyed singing and playing guitar. She was an avid gardener and delighted with every bloom in her flowerbeds. The only thing she relished more was her grandchildren. She was an awesome mother and encouraged her children to pursue their dreams and interests. As children, we have many fond memories of the summer camping vacations that she took us on.
She is survived by her three children, Gerry Rude, Grant Rude (Patti), Donna Gerlinsky (Mike) and grandchildren Carling, Lisa and Max. She was predeceased by her parents, four siblings and one granddaughter, Brittany.
She will be sadly missed.

Stabner
Esther, Else (Ella) Stabner
June 19, 1921 – Sept 30, 2013
ESTHER ELSE “ELLA” STABNER, passed away at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta on September 30, 2013 at the age of 92 years.
She was born on June 19, 1921 in Grahamdale, Manitoba to Gustaf and Louise, Summerfield. Ella grew up in Grahamdale, with two brothers and two sisters and had a hard life with her mother passing away when she was only 13. She married Charlie in 1939 and they moved to Winnipeg from the farm and were there until 1987 when they moved to Lethbridge, Alberta to be closer to family. They were married for 50 years. She was a member of the Lutheran Church and loved dressing up on Sundays to attend service. Ella enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking, garage sales, dancing, listening to music, gardening, her dog Brandy and her special visits with family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and was such a strong lady; even with fighting cancer to the end.
Ella is survived by her daughter Marlene (Dennis) Starner, her daughter Juyne (Carl) Gibson, her grandchildren Coral (Frank) Devcich, Darwyn (Shelly) Starner, Lisa (Dave) Broersma and her great-grandchildren Gabriel Devcich, Bryann, Alyssa and Alinna Starner, Aysia and Lilly Broersma, her many nieces and nephews and other relatives and special friends.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband Charlie Stabner, grandson Kevin Starner and special friend Bruce Robinson.
Special thanks to all of Ella’s friends especially Lori Fromm, Sally Petersen and Doreen White for their never-ending support and friendship. And also special thanks to the staff for the care provided at St. Therese and St. Michael’s Palliative Care.
A Memorial Service will be held at the LUTHERAN CHURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD, 2406 11 Avenue South, Lethbridge on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with a reception to follow.
A private family burial will be held prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA, 2405 41 Street North, Lethbridge or the Canadian Cancer Society, 317 10 Street South, Lethbridge.

WOOLF
JOHN MARTIN WOOLF husband to Jean Woolf (Deibert), passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the age of 80.
He leaves 4 children, Lonny Brown, Kim (Joan), Martin (Sharon) and Rory (Kaylana); 13 grandchildren and 16 great -grandchildren; 2 sisters, Dori Spackman, Newana Holt and a brother Sheldon Woolf.
John was predeceased by his parents, Sheldon and Martha Woolf.
He grew up in Cardston. After finishing high school, John had several jobs in Lethbridge mainly in the automotive business. He worked at Custom Engine and Parts servicing areas South, North and East Lethbridge. John had great pride and enjoyment in serving his customers and always loved the work. He served the LDS church faithfully and served in many positions. John was Bishop in Coaldale and served on the High Council in the Lethbridge East Stake.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Welling Chapel (Highway 5) on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 11:00 am with Bishop Randal Wilde officiating.

 He was predeceased by his parents Pheobe (nee Wilson) and Morgan Collett; Barb¹s parents Louise and Herbert Taylor; sister and brother-in-law Vivian and Archie Rombough and brother Harold Collett.
 Bob was born in Taber on April 23, 1936 where he resided all his life. He married Barbara Taylor on March 14, 1975. Bob worked for the Town of Taber for twenty six years before retiring due to poor health. He enjoyed watching rodeos, especially when his nieces and nephews were participating.
