BELLEW
MRS. MILDRED “MID” BELLEW, beloved wife of the late Mr. Howard Bellew of Lethbridge, AB, formerly of Milk River, AB, passed away peacefully at the Fairmont Extendicare on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the age of age of 91 years.
She is loving remembered by her family; Janet (Daryl) Schwartzenberger of Warner, AB, Lyle Bellew of Lethbridge, AB, and Wendy Zeller of Milk River, AB, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grand children and one great-great grandson.
She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Thielen of Milk River, AB, and her sisters-in-law Elsie Grisak of Lethbridge, AB, and Helen Swanson of Maple Ridge, BC and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Howard Bellew, her sons Raymond Bellew and Lloyd (Janet) Bellew, daughter Sharon Bellew, brothers Frank, Cliff (Rowene), Ken (Lenore) Kuhl, her sister Myrtle (Bill) Theodore, her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Bob Thielen, Francis (Ernie) (Bob Darling) Swanson, Mike Grisak, Ethelena (Vic) Thompson and Bob Swanson. She was also predeceased by her parents George and Ollie Kuhl.
Mid was born in Warner, and when she was 6 years old, her family moved to Milk River. She attended school in Warner and Milk River. As a young woman, she worked in Milk River and would later marry Howard Bellew on March 3, 1943. Howard and Mid lived in Milk River until December 2009 when they moved to Lethbridge to live at Golden Acres Lodge. She moved to Fairmont Extendicare in June 2011. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
A Visitation will be held prior to the services at the church from 12:00 – 12:45 P.M.
A Funeral Service will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 321 Main Street, Milk River, AB on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Brian Amison, officiating.
Cremation to follow.

BRENT (BEN) DRAGLAND
1968 ~ 2013
Brent (Ben) William Dragland, was born June 25, 1968 to Dave and Ruth Dragland and beloved husband to Tracy Dragland, loving father of Logan and Alexis, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the age of 45.
Brent was predeceased by his mother Ruth Dragland, Grandparents Ted & Winifred Dragland and Papa Burt Langridge.
Left to mourn, are his father Dave, brothers David (Shelly) and Gary (Sandy), sister Debra, Nanny Ethel Langridge and numerous nieces and nephews. Brent was born and raised in Lethbridge, AB.
Brent was a man of many gifts, and as a tradesman, Brent had knowledge in a variety of fields. He was a loving husband and a proud father. Brent was the type of man who always was there if someone needed a hand or just an ear. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and fishing and believed in being a humanitarian. Even though Brent left suddenly he will be in our hearts forever.
A celebration of his life will be held at the MOOSE LODGE, 1401-5 Ave N. Lethbridge, AB on Sunday Oct.6, 2013 between 1-3pm.

KONRAD, FRANCIS “FRANK” JOHN
June 11, 1936 – Budapest, Hungary
September 29, 2013 – Calgary, Alberta
Frank, beloved husband of Mary Konrad (nee Nemeth) of Calgary, AB, passed away on September 29, 2013 at the age of 77 years. Frank’s strong love of family was obvious throughout his lifetime and was particularly evident during his last days which were spent with his loved ones close by his side.
Frank was born in Budapest, Hungary and bravely set out with his young wife, Mary, to Canada in 1957. They settled in Calgary where they began raising their four children until their move to Lethbridge in 1970. There, Frank owned and operated several businesses including Epicure Fine Foods and Delicatessen. Frank and Mary returned to Calgary in 1985 where his deli expertise was respected by first Safeway and then Co-op. He will always be remembered for his generous and kind heart, friendly nature and lively conversation. Frank’s contagious smile will be fondly missed by all those who knew him. Although travel, food and friends were a big part of his life, he was most fulfilled by his devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren.
Besides his wife Mary, Frank is survived by his four children George (Jane), Sue (David), Shirley (Shawn) and Francis (Barb). He will also be dearly missed by his four granddaughters, Kira, Madison, Lexi and Elizabeth. Frank was predeceased by parents Rosalia (nee Miller) and Ferenc Konrad and his brother Laszlo, of Budapest, Hungary.

McKENZIE
EVA RUTH CHORNEY McKENZIE, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, September 30, 2013 at the age of 80 years. She was born and raised near Langbank, Saskatchewan and had six brothers and four sisters. She was the first in her family to graduate high school and went on to become a school teacher. Later she worked as Credit Manager at Western Canada Hardware, and Office Manager at Kingsway/Motorways Transport. She married Vic Rude in 1954 and they had three children. In 1977, she married Jim McKenzie.
She spent several years volunteering with the figure skating club as test chairman and doing carnival makeup. Ruth created beautiful needlework and enjoyed singing and playing guitar. She was an avid gardener and delighted with every bloom in her flowerbeds. The only thing she relished more was her grandchildren. She was an awesome mother and encouraged her children to pursue their dreams and interests. As children, we have many fond memories of the summer camping vacations that she took us on.
She is survived by her three children, Gerry Rude, Grant Rude (Patti), Donna Gerlinsky (Mike) and grandchildren Carling, Lisa and Max. She was predeceased by her parents, four siblings and one granddaughter, Brittany.
She will be sadly missed.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend by many BERNARD SHOT BOTH SIDES (Naa’tah’koi) who passed away on September 27, 2013 on the Blood Reserve. Beloved husband of the late Ella Chief Moon, son of the late Chief Jim Sr. and Annie Shot Both Sides.
Bernard received his education at St. Mary’s Residential School, after leaving the school he met and married the love of his life Ella and together raised seven children. Together they farmed and ranched on the Blood Reserve. He took great pride in providing for his family which led him to work at many different jobs and places. Bernard was a skilled man of all trades including carpentry, mechanic and leather craftsman making chaps and bridles. He was an avid athletic individual who joined the sport of rodeo, riding bareback. excelled in playing hockey, a boxing competitor, a good hunter with his sharp shooting and was also a great long distance runner and still did right to his passing.
He is survived by his children, Delvin (Suzanne), Duane (Ramona), Rosemary (Ronnie) Across The Mountain and Bernadine (Jordan) Healy, 17 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren with special grandchildren: Terrance, Jocelyn, Toby and Sonya. His brothers Alfred, Chris, Jim (Linda) and Donald Shot Both Sides, brother in laws Thomas Eagle Child and Hugh Healy, sisters Mildred (John Sr.) Chief Moon, Christine (Roy) Bare Shin Bone, Clara Chief Moon, Lena Shot Both Sides, Gabriel Hairy Bull, Maryann (Matthew) Chief Moon, Patsy (Richard) Right Hand and Aunt Lena Chief Calf, sisters in law Linda Bruised Head and Claudia Sugai, brother in law Dennis Mavis Chief Moon.
He was predeceased by sons Alvin, Clifford, daughter Noreen (Sally) Shot Both Sides, son in law Randy Chief Body. Brothers Clovis (Delphine) and Roderick Shot Both Sides. Sisters Pauline Eagle Child, Flora Healy and parents in law Victor and Mary Chief Moon.
The Family Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Friday, October 4th, 2013 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The Wake Service will be held at the Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve on Friday, October 4th, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. then continuing all night at Terrance’s residence, house #14, Levern, Blood Reserve.
The Funeral Service will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Saturday, October 5th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the Pioneer Cemetery, Blood Reserve.
