DR JOHN PROCTOR
1937 ~ 2013
Dr John Proctor, beloved husband of Gayle Proctor, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2013 at the age of 75 years with his family and friends by his side. He leaves to mourn and celebrate his amazing life, his wife, Gayle Proctor, his son Marty and wife Pam Proctor of Calgary and their children Chad, David and James; and his son Bradley Proctor, of Lethbridge. Bill and Margaret Leigh of Edmonton and their family; Geri and Len Wahlund and Erin Wahlund, of Sherwood Park and Sheldon and Liz Bolduc and their family, of Lac La Nonne. John will be missed by his friends in Alberta, Arizona and beyond. John was born in Liverpool, England. He was in the Merchant Marines before immigrating to Alberta.
John earned Bachelor¹s and Master¹s degrees in Education, and a Doctorate of Philosophy degree from the University of Alberta. He taught in Strathcona County, worked for the Department of Education in curriculum development, and taught at the U of A while earning his PhD. John and Gayle and their Pathfinders company led literary training workshops for teachers in Alberta from 1993-2002. John and Gayle moved from the Edmonton area to Lethbridge to be closer to their sons Marty and Bradley. Bradley and John shared a joint passion for rock hounding and silversmithing.
John was a passionate and articulate teacher who incorporated music in his programs. He played guitar with friends and family in Alberta and in his Mesa winter home in Venture Out. John and Gayle shared interests in silversmithing, golf, and tennis. Many friends and family treasure John’s silver creations and the musical gatherings at his home.
At John¹s request, no formal service will be held. He acknowledged and appreciated the many prayers he received.
John’s family appreciates the excellent care he received from Drs. Benke and Kollias and Dr. Donald Gibb, and the dedicated staff at Chinook Regional Hospital.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Canadian Cancer Society,

HELEN KOLIASKA
1935 ~ 2013
Mrs. Helen Koliaska, beloved wife of Mr. Alex Koliaska, passed away at the Fairmont Extendicare on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the age of 78 years. Helen is survived by her husband Alex, daughter Kathryn Koliaska (Ryan
McKay) and son John Koliaska (Jerilyn); grandchildren Taeya, Aliya and Duke Koliaska and Elizabeth and Mark McKay; brother Les Lavkulich (Mary Ann), brother Jack Lavkulich and sister Joanne Lavkulich (Bruce Elniski). She was predeceased by her parents, sister Rosalie and brother John. Born in 1935, she grew up in the Sunnyside district, attending Crystal Lake and Hardieville schools. MARTIN BROTHERS LTD. – OBITS Helen enrolled in university and began her teaching career at Readymade and Coaldale. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Education with a major in Art from the University of Alberta. Her first job was at St. Michael¹s, an inner city school in Edmonton, adding counseling and library duties to her job. She piloted a project to integrate the mentally and physically handicapped children into the regular system. She was an early advocate of inclusive education; a highlight of her career. She attained her master teacher designation and completed courses toward her Masters of Education. Helen returned to Lethbridge in 1966 due to family concerns. She met Alex and they married in 1968 and settled on a farm south of Lethbridge near the airport. Helen continued her involvement with substitute teaching at McNally and serving on parent councils and committees.
Life was filled with the usual duties of parenting ­ music lessons, soccer tournaments, dance performances and fieldtrips. She was an attentive and dedicated mother, and together with Alex provided many school lunches for the entire classrooms and helped whenever possible. She was a superb cook and excelled in baking and cake decorating. Their children were their first priority. She was active in home and school functions and was a member of the Hungarian Culture Club. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge. Interment to follow at the Mountain View Cemetery.

Another good one is gone. Jean Lapointe, beloved wife of the late Dave Lapointe, passed away peacefully with family at her side on October 8, 2013 at the age of 67 years.
