In loving memory
EDA FORTUNASO
(1927-2013)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eda Fortunaso, beloved wife of Joe Fortunaso of Hillcrest, Alberta. Eda was called to be with the Lord on November 6, 2013 while receiving care and kindness at the Crowsnest Pass Continuing Care Centre in Blairmore. She was 86 years of age.
Eda Elena Christofoli was born on July 1, 1927 in Michel, British Columbia to proud parents, Aquistino & Letizia Christofoli, who arrived in Canada from Northern Italy. One of three children, Eda was raised with a great appreciation for her family, friends, faith and pride in a task well done. She completed High School and gained employment at a bank. She was a lovely young lady who was meticulous, gentle and caring and she made a tremendous impression on a dashing young gentleman, “Joey” Fortunaso. They pledged their love in holy matrimony on October 9, 1948 and were further blessed with three precious children.
Eda’s compassionate nature yearned for more than the banking sector could offer and she continued her education receiving a Bachelors Degree in Education and completed six courses towards her Masters. She was passionate about the English Literature and inspired her students. She taught for sixteen years in Blairmore and Coleman and retired to her Hawaiian dream home overlooking the Kona coast in 1978. She taught catechism and was very involved in the church while in Hawaii and remained a strong member of the Catholic Women’s League. She and Joe traveled to many beautiful places.
Eda was talented in many ways including her skill at writing, cooking, swimming, dancing and providing a wonderful home for her family. She volunteered countless hours to community events. She was devoted to her husband, adored her children, cherished her grandchildren, and was a loyal friend to so many. May she find salvation in the peace of Christ and may her memory continue to bless us with friendship and love.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life include her loving husband, Joe Fortunaso; her children, Gail (Douglas), Terri (Gary) and Lois (Alan); her grandchildren, Leanne, Lori, Allison, Aron, Scott and Julie; her great grandchildren, Braiden, Paige, Sophie, Mallory and Spencer; her brother, Reno (Marlene); her numerous nieces, nephews and her extended family; as well as the many friends that she made throughout her lifetime.
She was predeceased by her parents, Aquistino & Letizia and her sister, Lea.
The Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Ben Marino as Celebrant. LOIS HANN
1923 ~ 2013
Carried safely from the loving arms of her family to the loving arms of her Savior; Lois Jean Hann, cherished wife of the late Herman Hann, went on to her eternal rest November 7, 2013.
Lois was born April 6, 1923 in Toronto, Ontario. She grew up in Hamilton with her six brothers and one sister. In 1947, she married Herman Hann and moved from the luxuries of the city to the beginnings of prairie village in Southern Alberta. She and Herman made a home in Nobleford and raised their six children there. Lois served in the United Church Women in Nobleford for many years. Wherever she was, Lois immersed herself in service, teaching Sunday school, volunteering in pastoral care, and crocheting hundreds of afghans to give away to newlyweds and new mothers. She served on the board of River of Life Church (formerly First Congregational) and as a working elder well into her eighties. In 2002, Lois was widowed, and in 2006, she moved to Columbia Assisted Living. Even in her declining health, Lois still served as she was able, reaching out to other residents of her home and aiding the church prayer chain, lifting up loved ones far and near to the Lord she loved so much.
She is survived by her children Mac & Colleen Hann of Calgary and their children Derek (Melanie) and Lindsay (Michael); Martha & Monty Cahoon of Picture Butte and their children Scott (Rhia), Keith (Elisha), and John (Stacey); Marlaine & Emrie Strohschein of Olds and their children Jeffrey and Kathrin; Alex & Trudy Hann of Lethbridge and their children Heidi (Chris), Karen and Liesel; Fred & Jackie Hann of Sylvan Lake and their children Matthew and Samantha; Lorna & Jeff Gibson of Sylvan Lake; ten great-grandchildren; her brothers Bruce and Doug and her sister Olive, all of Hamilton, Ontario.
She was predeceased by her husband Herman and by her parents, Lillian and Clare Macdonald, and brothers Glen, John, Ross and Murray Macdonald.
There is no greater legacy than leaving your family and friends with the knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Thank you, Grandma.
