PAUL HENRY MANLEY, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather was called home to glory on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the age of 84 years.
He is lovingly remembered by his loving wife Marjorie Manley (Stannard); three sons Larry (Debra), Bill (Mano) & Tom (Marge); grandchildren: Samantha (Chris), Stephanie (Sheldon) Kropiniski, Heather (Dan), Lindsey (Aaron) Koster; great-grandchildren: Carson, Reece (Kropiniski) and River (Koster). He is also survived by his two brothers Robert and Walter (Ella) as well as 4 nephews and 1 niece.
He is predeceased by his mother Ivy Minni Manley (September 24, 1987) and his father William Hartley Manley (November 12, 1936).
Paul was born in Lethbridge, Alberta January 7, 1929. He was raised, educated and married in Lethbridge. He attended the Lethbridge Pentecostal Tabernacle and later the Westside Community Church. He was a dedicated family man and church member. At 7 years old, Paul’s father died and at 15 years old, he quit school to help support his mother and brothers. His career was totally with the CPR. He retired at 58 years old after 45 years of service. His faithfulness in the church was extensive. He was a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School bus driver, board member, sang in the choir, and sang in the Old Gospel Sextet.
An interment will take place at 12:00pm on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Mountain View Cemetery, Scenic Dr. & 11 Street South with a Memorial Service to follow at 1:00pm at the WESTSIDE COMMUNITY CHURCH, 480 McMaster Blvd West, Lethbridge, AB with Reverend Bert Faulkner, officiating.

RICHARD FILIPCIC, beloved husband of Rose, his wife of 60 years, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on January 5, 2014 at the age of 89 years.
Left to mourn are his daughter Louise Westland (Garry) and her children; Melissa Westland; Melanie Johnston (Chris) and their children Eli, Noah, Jacob and Luke; Michael Westland (Christine); and Matthew Westland; and Richard’s son Stan Filipcic and his daughter Katherine Anderson (Kieran) and their daughter Ella; Stan’s son Adam and Adam’s son Weston.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Aurelia and Celestina, and his son-in-law David Westland.
Richard was born in Trieste, Italy on March 11, 1924. He married Rose Zerdin on May 9, 1953. They immigrated to Canada in 1957 with their two young children and were always grateful to their adopted country. Richard was a hard worker who brought a strong work ethic to every job he held. In their own quiet way, he and Rose were always helpful to others and no one who visited them ever left empty handed or empty hearted. His strong Christian faith was his strength and guidance. His family was his greatest blessing.

MARY HANNAN, born February 9, 1922, passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritans Society Park Meadows, on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the age of 91 years. She had resided in Golden Acres for the past seven years where she received excellent care.
Mary is the loving mother of Ross (Beth) Hannan and their son Mitch (Cinn) Hannan as well as grandchildren Brent (Karen) Hannan, Jody (Brad) Keim, and 4 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by sisters Ann (Roy – Deceased) Duval, Barbara (Robbie) Roberts, and sister-in- law Dagmar Luchanski.
She is predeceased by her husband Thomas J. Hannan, her son Kenneth Hannan and daughter-in-law Audrey Hannan, her parents George and Ann Luchanski, and brothers George Luchanski, Michael (Beattie) Luchanski, and John Luchanski.
At Mary’s request no formal funeral service will be held. Her immediate family will attend a graveside ceremony at a later date.

Mr. Joseph Howard Bakos of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Julia Bakos, passed away after a lengthy illness on January 6, 2014 at the age of 47 years.
For the past 17 years, Joe has worked for the Lethbridge Transit. Joe enjoyed fishing and camping plus his affinity for gnomes. He also enjoyed cruising around in his mustang.
Besides his loving wife Julia, Joe is survived by his step-daughter Lacey Milos (Keith McLeod); step-son Andrew Milos; grandchildren Nathan and Hayden; brother Troy (Char) Bakos and niece Taylor; as well in-laws Walter and Christine Niznikowski, brother-in-law Rick (Deb) Niznikowski (Dustin and Melissa Neufeld) as well as numerous aunts, uncles, friends and their families. Joe was predeceased by his mom Marilyn Bakos.

Bill Larson of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the age of 87 years.

LLOYD D. HATT
1917 ~ 2013
Lloyd Dennis Hatt was born in Wadsworth, Ohio on October 21, 1917 the second son of Albert & Edna Hatt. After high school, Lloyd graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago and worked as an electrician for Goodyear Aircraft.
Lloyd and his first wife had a son, Gary, but in 1946 Doris passed away. At the time, he was serving in the U.S. Navy (1944-46). In 1948 Lloyd married Henrietta Berryman, in Orrville, Ohio. They continued to live in Ohio moving from Delphos to Lexington and adding three siblings for Gary.
In 1958, Lloyd packed up the family and moved to Lethbridge, Alberta to help start a new seed processing company called Western Canadian Seed Processors, which later became Canbra Foods. The family immediately became active members of the Central Church of Christ where Lloyd served as treasurer for 20 years and as an elder for over 33 years. At Canbra Foods, Lloyd was a director in the company and Vice President of Engineering and Maintenance until his retirement February 1, 1978.
After his retirement Lloyd kept busy as a member of Kiwanis, volunteering whenever he was needed. He was an avid golfer, bowler, softball player, bridge player and traveler. He and Henrietta made several trips to Australia and visited New Zealand, Europe, India, Kuwait, China and loved cruising on the QE II. With age, Lloyd became less physically active but still kept up with his email, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, Toronto Blue Jays and facebook.
Lloyd is survived by his four children, Gary (Alice) Hatt of Calgary, Alberta, Linda Hatt (Piotr Kossowski) of Kelowna, British Columbia, Rick (Suzanne) Hatt of Stoney Plain, Alberta and Dennis (Trudy) Hatt of Lethbridge, Alberta; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and his sister Irene Mahoney of Delroy, Ohio.
Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, his younger brother Roy, his older brother Walter and his beloved wife, Henrietta who passed away in 2009.
Besides his family, Lloyd was most proud of being a member of the Church of Christ for 75 years and his 62 year marriage to Henrietta. He was truly blessed.

ANASTASIA NEDZA
1921 ~ 2014
Anastasia (Ann) Nedza of Coaldale passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, January 3, 2014, at the age of 92 years. She was born in Poddebce, Poland on July 14th, 1921. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, John. She is survived by her children Paul (Avis) and Edward (Delaine) and grandchildren Fallon (Mike) and Renae. She is also survived by a brother Wasel and two sisters Tekla and Stephanie in Poland.
Anastasia was the oldest of her siblings. She and her father ran a small business, they grew cucumbers and would go to the neighboring villages to sell or trade them for other produce. During World War II she was forced to work in Germany on a farm. There she met John and they were married after the war. In 1950, with their small son Paul they immigrated to Canada. After surviving a long boat trip, they landed in Halifax and onward by train to Lethbridge. She was so happy when they decided to come to Canada. She was a proud Canadian celebrating both the day arriving in Canada, May 24 and Canada Day.
Anastasia loved to be in her garden. Growing potatoes, cucumbers, beans, tomatoes and flowers. Every weekend in the summer she would send flowers to St. Ambrose Church for the altar. Freshly picked crab apples were her favorite to eat and if a bumper crop, wine to make. She was a hard worker and was always helping people. She loved to listen to CBC radio and visit with people. Anastasia’s pride and joy were her granddaughters.
Anastasia was very active in St. Ambrose Church as a member, choir member, CWL member for 55 years and a volunteer. She received an “Appreciation of Dedicated Service Award” for 30+ years in 1992. She will be greatly missed.
She was so happy when they decided to come to Canada. She was a proud Canadian celebrating both the day arriving in Canada on May 24 and Canada Day. She will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 2:00pm at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1513 – 23 Avenue, Coaldale, Alberta with Father Thomas Vadassery officiating. Viewing will take place at the church prior to the ceremony. Interment will follow at Coaldale cemetery.
