ANDERSON
MICHAEL “MICKEY” NOEL ANDERSON, beloved husband of Judi Anderson of Raymond, AB passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, January 11th, 2014 at the age of 72.
He is survived by his wife Judi; sons Darren (Roxanne), Jason (Heidi) and Chris; daughter Lori (Kim); brothers Wayne (Rita) and Gerald; grandchildren Mike, Jeff, Justin, Nikko and Hayden.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion, 324 Mayor Magrath Dr. S, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday January 18th, 2014 at 1:00pm. Parking & entry on north side.

CSAKI
JOSEPH MICHAEL CSAKI, predeceased by his loving wife Darline Ann Csaki, passed away at his home on January 12, 2014 at the age of 76 years.
Joe is lovingly remembered by his daughter Cindy (Brian) Wright of Pincher Creek, son Steve Csaki and daughter Patti Csaki, both from Calgary, his grandchildren Kristin (Brett) Stensrud, Christopher (Mattie) Wright, Corey Csaki and Nicole Csaki and great grandson Samuel Joseph Stensrud, and nephew Danny Van Cleave of Great Falls, Montana.
Joe is also survived by his sisters Jean Csaki and Elizabeth Csaki of Lethbridge and Mary Van Cleave of Great Falls.
Joe was born September 9, 1937 in Cupar, Saskatchewan. He married Darline Csaki in September of 1959 and resided in Lethbridge working for a finance company for many years. He moved his family to Pincher Creek in 1975 and co-owned West Castle Motors where he sold many a vehicle. He then purchased the ABC Confectionary as he wanted a family business and kept it running for many years. His next venture was the purchase of the Great Canadian Dollar Store where he worked with his wife Darline and daughter Cindy.
After many years of self-employment he retired and enjoyed his time with his family.
Joe was such a gentleman, always had a smile on his face and was a kind and caring man.
He was truly loved and will be missed by all who loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Friday January 17, 2014 at the PINCHER CREEK UNITED CHURCH, 972 Police Ave, Pincher Creek, AB Reverend Brent Woodard Officiating.

ELMER STRANDQUIST
(1931-2014)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elmer Richard Strandquist, beloved husband of Vivian Strandquist of Blairmore, Alberta. Elmer succumbed to his illness on January 10, 2014 while receiving care at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre. He celebrated 82 years of a full and enjoyable life.
Elmer was well known for his honesty, sense of fair-play, witty humour, joyful character, big grin and the ever present twinkle in his eye. He loved his work and adored his family and this community. Although he is now gone from our eyes, he will remain forever in our hearts.
Left to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life include his loving wife, Vivian Strandquist of Blairmore; his children, Ronald “Dude” (Jodie) Strandquist of Longview, Glenn (Laura) Strandquist of Coleman and Kent (Shanda) Strandquist of Hillcrest; his grandchildren, Sherry (Trevor), Mike, Jenna (Kevin), Teyel (Sean), Robert (Dee-Anna), Hayley (Darren), Bailey (Eldon), Cory (Veronica), Kirby, Nicole (Justin), Jared, Adam (Andrea), Jeff (Kayla), Ricky (Vanessa), Megan (Joel), Lanny, Braydon, Cody and Londyn; his great grandchildren, Tyler, Connor, Emmett, Cailley, Hunter, Rylee, Audrina, Milo, Lacey, Adam, Malachi and Mackenzie; his brother, Roy Strandquist of Inisfree; his sisters, Marie Hadland of Humbolt, Ellen Jones of Surrey, Eileen Pilling of Blairmore and Ruth (Allan) White of Bellevue; special nieces, Carol Lenz and Patsy Malin; and numerous nephews, nieces, in-laws, extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Erick & Annie Strandquist; his sons, James, Dale & Barry; his great grandson, Krue; his brothers, Walderman, Robert & Arvid; and his sisters, Linda Swanson, Verna Wood, Elvera Nelson, Freda Strandquist and Ella Strandquist.
The Memorial Service honouring Elmer’s life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the M.D. McEachern Community Centre (2802-222 St.) in Bellevue with Pastor Al Robinson and Rev. Janni Belgum officiating. A special tribute will be provided by the members of the Masonic order.

Henry F. Hoffman
March 15, 1921 – Shamrock, SK
January 12, 2014 – Lethbridge, AB
HENRY FREDRICK HOFFMAN, beloved husband of Kathy Hoffman, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, January 12th, 2014, at the age of 92 years.
Henry was born on the farm near Shamrock, SK and raised there till 1933. The family left in 1933 by wagon to make a new start on a farm near Lacombe, AB. In 1938 the family moved again to Vernon, BC. Raised on the farm with 10 siblings, the love of family and God, were instilled in his heart and spirit.
Henry started schooling at College Heights in Lacombe to be a minister, but changed his mind and returned to farming and logging in Vernon. In 1941 he married Elsie Schultz and had two children Jenny and Wayne. 1954 moved him to Calgary, AB where he worked in construction for Dominion Sound and Drexel Ceilings. In 1973 Henry married Kathy in Calgary and adopted Alfred and Michael into his family, and extended his love to sibling Valerie and her children Denise and Desiree.
Henry is predeceased by his parents Fredric and Carolina Hoffman and siblings Emily, Emily, Wilmer, Jake, Helen, Bertha, Ester, Leona, and Norman and is survived by Evelyn. Dad is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathy Hoffman. His children Jenny/John Michaud of Kamloops, B.C., Wayne/Karen Hoffman of Jasper, AB, Alfred/Sharon Breland of Niagara Falls, ON, Michael/Lila Hoffman of Lethbridge, AB. His grandchildren Rod/Sandi Michaud, Shawn Michaud /Jacob Kiujpers, Shannon Escot, Tonia/Ekachai Pathumman, Brandi/Dan Diehl, Trevor Hoffman, Lisa Breland, Kevin Breland, Courtney Hoffman and Doug Hoffman and by his great grandchildren Cory, Adam, Brendan and Brooklyn.
In retirement he devoted his time to simple passions of wood working, fishing, watching hockey on TV, and reading the Bible. Dad truly loved spending time with family and friends, he was in his glory while telling jokes and stories of days passed. Dad will be fondly remembered in the hearts of all who met him.

LATURNUS SR.
MR. JOHN LATURNUS SR., went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 12, 2014 at the age of 94 at the Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale, AB.
John was born in Val Marie, SK on October 13, 1919. His family left Saskatchewan when he was a young child and lived in numerous communities before settling in Raymond. In 1946 Dad married Helen Antal and they settled in the Coaldale area where they resided for the rest of their lives.
John is survived by 3 sons; John Jr. (Janice), Don (Alisa), Jim (Karen) all of Coaldale, grandchildren Jason (Debbie) Laturnus, Jeremy Laturnus, Carisa Romans, Jackie (Brendon) Scholten, Paula Chatfield, Kyle Laturnus, Devin (Anamaria) Laturnus, Renae (Robbie) Hale. Great Grandchildren; Jordan and Dylan Laturnus, Aidan and Lauryn Romans, Shaun, Ben, and Natalie Scholten, Gabriella and Gavin Chatfield, Kade and Cooper Hale. Also survived by 1 brother and 2 sisters.

PLOMP
WILLEMKE “WILLIE” PLOMP (nee Hofstee) went home peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2014.
Willie was born October 28th, 1930 near Pearce, Alberta. She attended both Longbottom and Coalhurst School. Willie married William J. Plomp on April 14, 1949 and they resided in the Monarch area, then later, various residences in Lethbridge. They were blessed with 6 children.
Over the years, she worked at St. Michael’s Hospital, Horne & Pitfield, CIP Midwest, Gulf Self-Service Gas Bar, and then retired from The University of Lethbridge Phys. Ed. Dept. Willie was a loyal member of Ladies Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2100, as well as the Nobleford Oldtimer’s. She was an avid sports enthusiast her entire life and loved her family dearly.
Willie is survived by her children; Linda (George -deceased) Waselenak, Gay (Allan) Higginson, John (Isabelle) Plomp, and Sheila (Lauren) Vander Woude. She will also be greatly missed by her 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; Tammy (Jim) Fitzpatrick-Easton and Rhett; Chad (Sarah) Thompson-Brayson; Jason (Kandy) Waselenak – Samantha; Derek Waselenak; Tanya (Michel) Waselenak; Carina Waselenak; Lindyl (Peter) Pankonin – Richelle (Pete), Jeff and Jayson; Lorne Higginson; Christopher (Michelle) Higginson – Dillon, Carter, Jessica, Kyran, Haley and Laura; Carey (Nadia) Malacko; Brad (Kelly) Malacko – Gracie and Emma; Broc (Stephanie) Higginson – Kale and Brinley; Tara (Rob) Slavich – Paige and Kayla; Nicole (Ben) Swen – William; Allissa Plomp; Kailie (Neil) Plomp; Raegan Plomp; Dustin (Amber) Vander Woude – Dominic and Draven; Jordan (Chelsea) Vander Woude; Mackenzie (Joshua) Swaok – Elliot.
She is also remembered by her sisters and their families; Anna Velne, Liz Hunter, Patricia (Frank) Popson as well as sister-in-law Nellie Plomp and her family.
Willie was predeceased by her husband Bill, daughters Wendy and Teresa, granddaughter Samantha Malacko, her parents Harmana and Egbert Hofstee, stepfather William Hunter, brothers Garret and Klaas, son-in-law George, and brothers-in-law Jack Plomp and Ollie Velne.

WESLEY, SHIRLEY ANN
July 18, 1930 – January 11, 2014
Shirley Ann Wesley (nee Yorgason) of Claresholm, beloved wife of the late Lee Wesley, passed away on Saturday January 11, 2014 from respiratory failure after spending a short period in the Foothills Hospital. Shirley is survived by her daughter Lora (Martin) Rhea, their children Jen and Brent; her son Allen (Janice), Allen’s son Daren and his daughter Danielle, Allen’s son Bob (Emily) and their son Clark, and Janice’s children Steven and Megan; her son Garth (Verna) and their children Shannon, Lanna and Shon.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Lee, son Dale, infant grand-daughters Shantel and Amanda, her parents, four sisters and five brothers.
Shirley was born in Fort Macleod on July 18, 1930 and lived all of her life in southern Alberta. She married Lee on March 16, 1949 and together they shared responsibilities in ranching, farming and parenting.
Shirley was very active in the church and community groups. She had a passion for cooking and sewing. She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt and grandmother who will be missed by all.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Claresholm, Alberta with Bishop Joe Toone officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association (204-2323 32 Ave NE Calgary, Alberta T2E 6Z3) or the CNIB (15 Colonel Baker Place Calgary, AB T2E 4Z3).
