PAUL FRIEDRICH EGGERT
Paul Eggert, passed away from this life, January 24, 2014, leaving behind his beloved wife of 50 years, Anna, his daughter Christiane (Bradley Bustard), treasured grandchildren Isaak and Aiden, and daughter Heike, and many dear friends.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Grete, brother Christian.
Paul and Anna married in their native Germany in 1963, opening a butcher business shortly after earning his master license. The high quality meat and sausage business was a success. Property development became the next step and construction projects began in their town of Ahrensburg, Germany leading to a very busy life. The birth of their two daughters followed along with Paul becoming a town councilor.
By the mid 1970’s, holidays with their young family brought them to Canada. For six weeks they toured British Columbia and Alberta for an experience they would never forget. In 1976, they purchased a farm in the Summerview area and two years later moved the family from a small city in Germany to rural Southern Alberta.
Beyond his wife and family, Paul’s passion was cattle, and sharing his passion with lively discussions of the cattle business, or hosting numerous banquets with prime rib Alberta beef as the main course, was a favorite activity. He was always on the lookout for another reason to host people at their home.
Paul was well known locally as a German man wearing a cowboy driving the local roads in a Mercedes. There are countless stories of his adventures and mishaps, at least partly owing to his stubborn German nature. He was actively involved in politics with the Conservative Party, as well as the Pincher Creek Lions Club, and most recently, Rotary International.
His wide circle of friends ensured an active and extensive social life throughout southern Alberta.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 31, 2014 at THE FOOTHILLS COMMUNITY CHURCH, 1200 Ken Thorton Blvd, Pincher Creek, AB, Pastor Andrew Craig officiating.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the fabulous doctors and nursing staff of the Pincher Creek Health Centre.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Windy Slopes Health Foundation P.O. Box 2554, Pincher Creek, AB T0K 1W0

ZEMEK
1917 – 2014
MRS. RITA ZEMEK, beloved wife, mother, grandma and great- grandma of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Good Samaritans Park Meadows Village on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014 at the age of 96 years.
Rita was born to Joseph and Anna Rezac on June 2, 1917 in the Crowsnest Pass. She lived there until her husband passed away in 1970 and soon after she moved to Lethbridge to be closer to her family. She was a really good cook and a hard worker around her home – still shovelling snow at age 89. She enjoyed playing crib and whist and just loved the musical entertainment brought in while she lived at Martha’s House. Thanks to Park Meadows Good Samaritans Cottage 1, where she lived the past year and a half and was well taken care of.
Rita was predeceased by her husband Joseph and also by her three sisters and one brother.
Left to mourn her passing are daughters Carolyn (Len) Nyland of Salmon Arm, B.C. and their children, Todd (Leah) Nyland of Langley, B.C. and Tracy Nyland of Lethbridge; Brenda (Joey) Krywolt of Lethbridge and their children Gabe (Joanne) Krywolt of Lethbridge and Grant (Susheilla) Krywolt of Troy, Michigan. She also leaves behind five great- grandchildren: Amy, Allison, Trevor, Reese and Amalia who brought her great joy.
Losing Mom leaves a deep hole in our family and she will be dearly missed. We love you Mom.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
