Diane passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital after a lengthy battle with illness.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years Larry and siblings Len (Denise) Fleming of Ottawa,
Shirley (Ted) Nichols of Denver, Jack (Marilyn) Fleming, Ron (Shirley) Fleming, Brian Fleming, mother -in
-law Fay Dietzen, brother – in – law Ken Hamilton of Kelowna as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents John and Jenny Fleming and sister Doreen (Robert) Kemp.
A special thank you to Dr. Aron Low and the staff (especially Randy) at unit 5B of the hospital.

Kalvin Eric Odland of Vauxhall, beloved husband of Pamela Odland, passed away suddenly on Monday,
February 3, 2014 at the age of 49 years.
Besides his loving wife Pamela, Kalvin is survived by his three children Brendan, Jaden (Nikki Kress) of
Lethbridge and Karlee (Brendan Hendriks) of Vauxhall; his brother Bradley and Doris Odland of Oyen, AB
and their children Lexi (Devin) Declercq of Medicine Hat, AB, Larissa (Jeremey) Kenyon of Lethbridge, AB;
great-nephews and niece Jaxen, Connor, and Apiphany of Medicine Hat; his father and mother-in-law Donald
and Donna Virostek of Lethbridge, AB; brother and sister-in-law Trevor and Paula Virostek; nieces Rylee
and Amber of Mountain View, AB. Kalvin was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Faye Odland,
grandparents Erik and Abigail Odland and George and Mary Gillespie.
Kalvin was born on May 6, 1964 to Alfred and Faye Odland. He grew up in the Vauxhall area where he
attended school and graduated in 1982. He attended the Lethbridge Community College for one year taking
Mechanics before returning to farm with his dad and brother. Kalvin married his high school sweetheart
Pamela Virostek on April 6, 1985; they raised their family and farmed in the Stone Hill area until 2001
then returned to the original homestead in Vauxhall area where he was raised. For the past 8 years he has
been working for AgCom Petroleum in Enchant.
Kalvin was active in sports growing up playing minor baseball, hockey, and Vauxhall Spurs Baseball. He
was also active in 4H. He has continued his dedication to sports as being President for 9 years and later
director for Vauxhall Minor Hockey and President of Vauxhall Spurs Baseball for 4 years. His current role
of General Manager of the Southeast AAA Tigers Midget Female Hockey. He also serves as a Director for the
Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League and a member of Vauxhall Spurs Alumni. Kalvin has also coached
hockey and baseball for many years and has done countless hours of volunteer work associated with sports.
Kalvin has touched and left a lasting memory with everyone he knows especially with his “laugh”. His
passion and love were his family.
He will be deeply missed by all.

Neal Quentin Mellafont passed away surrounded by family at the Lacombe Hospital & Care Centre on January
31, 2014 after a short battle with cancer.
Neal is survived by his son Casey (Bonnie) of Calgary, daughter Sarina (Mitch Davidson) of Lethbridge,
grandsons Gavin and Jonah Mellafont, brothers Fred (Daryl), Bill (Marie), Max (Deb), Harry (Thelma),
sisters Darlene Les Strange (David), Dawn Gordon, Denise Bardics as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Neal was predeceased by his Father, Charles in 1992 and Mother, Minnie in 2013 and brother in law Larry
Gordon 2014.
Neal was born in Lethbridge, AB and lived on the family farm east of Coutts. Neal was a self-taught
carpenter and cement finisher. His last job before his illness was building log homes in Red Deer.
In his younger days Neal enjoyed volley ball, golf, curling and racquet ball. He loved the outdoors and
camping and was the King of the Barbeque.
Neal will always be remembered for his infectious laugh.

Shalayne Sarah Selk slipped from this life on February 2nd in the arms of her angel mother and surrounded
by family and friends. Shalayne was a ray of Heavenly Father’s light and grace that we were allowed to
borrow for a time. Shalayne was kind, caring and warm, and she had the heart of an angel and touched many
souls throughout her 27 years. Shalayne will be remembered with love by her parents, Robert and Jackie;

Sophie Mikhail beloved wife of Michel Mikhail passed away peacefully on February 4, 2014 at the age of
85.
Sophie was born on May 25, 1928 in Cairo, Egypt. She grew up in Port Said where she attended school to
become a seamstress. She married Michel in 1958 and lived in Port Said where both of their sons were
born. Sophie, Michel and their sons immigrated to Canada in 1968. Sophie was quickly employed as a
seamstress at Woolco, it was soon after she was hired at Black’s Men’s Wear and it was there she worked
passionately until retirement. She enjoyed swimming and league bowling but her true joy came from feeding
and spoiling her family.
Besides her loving husband Michel, she is survived by her sons Adly (Elizabeth) and grandson Nicholas and
Ramy (Etha) and granddaughter Mandy (Shawn) and their children Aiden and Damien, grandson Cory and his
children Logan and Alexis and grandson Jay.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH,
604 13th Street North, Lethbridge with Deacon Frank Peta officiating.
