1949 ~ 2014

Alan James Vigh passed away February 19, 2014 after a short illness, beloved husband of Carol. BILL CLARKE

1950 ~ 2014

Mr. Bill Clarke of Lethbridge, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the age of 63 years. Bill is survived by his son Michael Clarke, daughter Marina Crego, Son in-law Scott Crego; his 3 Grandchildren Alexis, Rylee, and Nolan Crego; and siblings, Dan (Dianne), Colleen Meier (Jim Gage), Rick, Jim (Cathy), Neeta, Neela (Rick Arseneall), Kathy (Bert Patriquin), Steve (Heather). BLAIR

Fenton Boyd Blair passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014, at the age of 100 years, beloved husband of Mattie for over 75 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Pat (Stan) Bohnet; daughter-in-law, Connie Blair; five grandchildren, Jim (Marilyn), Scott (Rose), Kelly (Robert), Barb (Curt) and Blair; several great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by his parents, Ida Maud (Boyd) and William Alexander Blair; his son Bill Blair, his brother Russel (Nellie) Blair; sister-in-law, Grace (George) Jessop and one great granddaughter Kimberly Blair. Fenton was born and raised in Granum and attended Olds School of Agriculture where he met Mattie and knew she was the one! They married December 3, 1935, and spent the next 68 years ranching and farming in Granum before moving to Medicine Hat in 2003. They both enjoyed riding their horses in parades, cattle drives and the Seniors Rodeo; travelling to various locations around the world. Camping and visiting with friends and family were cherished events. Thank you to all who helped in his care. We greatly appreciate everything that was done for him. Ceasar was born in Raymond, AB on April 30, 1936. GLADYS ELIZABETH CLAY

1920 ~ 2014

Gladys Elizabeth Clay of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Don Clay, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2014 at the age of 93 years. She is survived by her sons Larry of Regina, SK and Dale (Linda) of Nepean, ON; four grandchildren Sharon (Bill), Monica (Farrell), Adam and Amanda as well as three great-grandchildren (Madelyn, Isabelle and Roniin). She was predeceased by her husband, Don, her parents Oscar and Alice Willetts and her sister Mabel North. As a child, Gladys lived on a farm outside of Lethbridge and attended a one room school at Crystal Lake. Her parents were actively involved in the community hosting many musical evenings and card parties at their home. Gladys was taught to play the piano at age four and this began for her a lifetime of joy of music. Her sister, Mabel, was her constant companion until age 14 when she moved to Lethbridge to live with her Grandma in order to attend high school at the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute. Gladys married Don Clay on November 17, 1945. From the start, Gladys and her husband were partners. They work hand-in-hand to build their home in north Lethbridge. They loved to entertain family and friends. It was not uncommon for them to have more than twenty people for supper and cards. Throughout their 63 years of marriage, they preferred to do things together rather than apart. Faith in Christ was important for Gladys and she was a life member of St. Mary¹s Anglican Church in north Lethbridge. Her Christian faith sharpened her awareness of the needs of others and she was always quick to give a helping hand of support, a word of encouragement or provide a listening ear. Gladys was very proud of her sons and their spouses as well as her four grandchildren and most recently three great-grandchildren. To them, she stressed the importance of higher education, the need for a strong work ethic, the advantage of being a team player and the importance of being loyal to family, friends and community. For the last eight years, Gladys resided at Good Samaritans Park Meadows, where she was much loved by fellow residents and staff alike. She was known for her quick sense of humor, her love of playing cards, and her non -complaining nature. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, February 21, 2014 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610, 4th Street South, Lethbridge, with Canon James Robinson officiating. IRENE HARTY (1922 ­ 2014)

With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother on Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 91 years. She was born in Birmingham, England on August 3, 1922. On October 11, 1945 Irene married her army sweetheart, Jake Harty in Wolverhampton, England and enjoyed 55 wonderful years of marriage. In 1946 Irene immigrated to Canada and moved to Foremost, Alberta to join her husband, followed by a move to Lethbridge a couple years later where they raised their family.Irene loved her family and was especially happy when everyone was together for family occasions. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and travelling to Hawaii, trips back to England and the Oregon coast. Irene is lovingly remembered by her son, Roger (Chris) Harty and daughter, Linda Switzer (fiancé, Joe Arnold) and three dear grandsons: Matthew, Shane, and Mitchell. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Jacob Harty in 2000 and daughter, Susan Harty in 2013. Irene was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 10:30 am at ST. AUGUSTINE¹S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 411 ­ 11 Street South, Lethbridge with Canon James Robinson officiating. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 -10:30 am. Mrs. Jennie Brandsma (nee Van der Linden) of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. John Brandsma, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the age of 76 years. Jennie is survived by her children, Jennie (Frank) Anderson, Carol (Dennis) Daubert, Debbie (Richard) Ooms, John Brandsma, Michael (Sherri) Brandsma, Shelagh (Tony) Tietz; 24 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister Mia Sandover; brothers Art (Elaine), Casey (Eve), Peter (Willy), John (Mel), Hank Van der Linden; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her loving husband John Brandsma, Jennie was also predeceased by her parents, Pieter and Jannigje Van der Linden; sisters Ali, Teuntje, Audrey, Marie; and brother Arie.
