FLORENCE MOSCOVICH
1917 ~ 2014
Florence Moscovich, long-time resident of Lethbridge, passed away on Tuesday March 25, 2014. Florence was
born in Barnwell Alberta on November 20, 1917, daughter of early farming pioneers, James and Mabel
Johnson. She married local dentist, Joseph Moscovich, in 1941, and helped him establish his practice in
the city. Besides Dr. Joe, who passed away in 1996, Florence was predeceased by her daughter, Leslie
(1974), as well as four brothers and five sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Dr. James
Moscovich, his wife, Barbara, whom Florence cherished as a daughter, of London, Ontario, as well as many
nieces and nephews.
“Flo-Mo” was admired for her vivacity, which was accentuated by her million-dollar smile, and her
friendly and generous manner. She was active in the Jewish community, and strongly supported the Arts, in
particular the symphony orchestra and the art gallery.
Special thanks are extended to Florence’s devoted niece, Vivian Holmes, as well as her special friends,
Marcia Goodman Taylor, Kelly Maguire, Julie Taylor, the wonderfully compassionate staff of Golden Acres
Lodge, as well as Val of Paradigm Home Health, Janet and Tanya of Home Care Services, and Dr. C.
Forestell, for their friendship and kindness.
A burial service will take place in the Jewish section of Mountain View Cemetery at 2:00pm on Thursday,
March 27, 2014 where Florence will be laid to rest beside her beloved Joe. Flowers are gratefully
declined.

GELDREICH
Ronald Keith Geldreich passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in the Bow Island Hospital.
at the age of 89 years. Dad is survived by three children, Jim (Ann) Geldreich of Bow Island, and Ryan,
Megan, Fiona; Bob (Joyce) Geldreich of Calgary and Cameron (Erin), Lauren (Brett), Tim (Debra); Lori
(Jerry) Mgyes and Melissa (Sheldon) and Neil; two great granddaughters, Abigail and Madilynn; sisters-
in-law, Pat, Marie and Lorna as well as numerous nieces and nephews.   He is predeceased by his parents,
Alma and Max, his brothers and sister-in-law, Vern, Merril (Valeda), Ray and Melvin (Bud) and his only
sister Maxine Thurlow (George). Ron is also predeceased by Doreen’s parents Walter and Yvonne Egan, his
brother-in-law, Bill Haskill, his wife Violet who later married Jack Thomas. He was born December 25,
1924 in Medicine Hat, the youngest son of Max and Alma Geldreich and was raised on the farm 12 miles
south of Bow Island attending Haycroft School and graduating grade 12 in Bow Island. Ron lived his
entire life in the Bow Island area. He married his high school sweetheart, Doreen Egan, June 30, 1946,
who sadly predeceased him in 1975.  Being the son of a carpenter/farmer, Ron enjoyed many construction
projects in his home and on the farm. Farming was his life. He first worked for, then shared his
passion with his in-laws, Walter and Yvonne Egan, and eventually Ron and Doreen purchased half the Egan
homestead in the ‘50’s, and becoming more involved and dedicated as his family grew. In those early
years, while raising his family, Ron was also involved in his community, being a Steward in the United
Church, a Director for the 40 Mile Lease and a member of the Lions Club. Ron was a quiet man, a gentle
man; a steward of the land and a farmer till the end. However, his most loved and valued treasures were
his children and grandchildren. Dad’s strength and humor, his caring and accepting ways leave a legacy
of love. His example of hard work and quiet determination will live on. As his family grew and work on
the farm slowed down, Ron had a chance to become more involved in the Lions Club. His efforts were
appreciated and he won many service awards. He also spent many, many hours in the local recycling depot;
to the extent his grandchildren thought this was his job. Ron enjoyed being with family and friends and
took time to travel, exploring Australia, Europe, Cuba, Mexico, Alaska. Disneyland and California.Â
Several bus trips introduced him to different parts of Canada and the United States. Ron spent many
hours at the Golden Age Centre, playing Crib and Smear and sharing great times with special friends.Â
Dad’s final years were spent “supervising†the farm while living at the Pleasant View Lodge. The Lodge
staff and fellow residents became like family. Dad, you will be forever remembered and dearly missed
always by your family and friends. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the
PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Friday, March 28th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in
St. Andrew’s United Church, Bow Island on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Sheila McLeod
officiating. Interment will take place at the Prairie View Cemetery (Medicine Hat) on Saturday, March
29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Pleasant View Lodge,
Bag 6700 Bow Island, AB T0K 0G0. To e-mail an expression of sympathy, please direct it to:

GODLONTON
It’s with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of SHIRLEY ANN GODLONTON, on Saturday,
March 22, 2014, at the Chinook Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She is the beloved
wife of the late Arnold Godlonton.
Shirley was born on February 13, 1933 to Ernest and Leah Pankhurst. She grew up in Lethbridge, the eldest
of three children. She met the love of her life, Arnold Godlonton and was married on November 22, 1950.
Together they raised seven children in the Del Bonita and Magrath area. Mom’s greatest joy and love in
the world was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was so very proud of each one of
them and never passed up the opportunity to brag about their accomplishments and show them off to all she
visited with. Mom had many talents; she was an amazing cook, seamstress, cake decorator, gardener and
friend. She had a giving nature and would never hesitate to help those she felt were in need. Her love
and example will forever live on in all the lives she touched.
Shirley is survived by her seven children: Kirk (Judy), Craig (Sherry), Cindee Pauls, Darcy Godlonton,
Wendy (Rick) Bennett-Parkins, Stacey (Warren) Adamson, and Jim (Sue); 24 grandchildren and 45 great
grandchildren; her sister Geraldine Martin, brother Bob (Sylvia) Pankhurst; brothers-in-law Melvin

friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years Arnold, her parents Ernest and Leah Pankhurst, Arnold’s
parents James and Phyllis Godlonton, granddaughter Crystal Godlonton and great-grandsons Michael
Godlonton and Zachary Parkins, her sons-in-law Peter Pauls and Darwin Bennett, her brother-in-law Keith
Martin, and sisters-in-law Merle Dunbrack and JuaNita Vance.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet the family prior to the Funeral Service at the church from

of Latter-day Saints, MAGRATH STAKE CENTRE, 21 East 1st Avenue South, Magrath, Alberta.
Interment to follow in the Magrath Cemetery.
We would like to extend our appreciation to the staff at St. Therese Villa for the care and kindness that
Mom received while living there. She made many wonderful friends with both the staff and residents in her
time there. Also, we would like to thank the medical staff on 4B at the Chinook Regional Hospital for the
compassion and loving care they extended to Mom in the 19 days she was there. As a family we were touched
with the level of care and compassion they so freely gave; we will be eternally grateful.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to either the Kidney Foundation of Canada, #408-740-4
Ave. South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0N9, or plant a tree in memory of Mom.
