1939-2014

Davey, Richard Wayne of Champion, beloved husband of Jean, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the age of 74 years. MARGARET STICKEL
1921 – 2014

Margaret Stickel passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on June 24, 2014 at the age of 93. Margaret was born in Podolsk, Russia on May 15, 1921, the second of 13 children. The family immigrated to Canada in 1924, settling first in Saskatchewan and then in the Readymade area of Alberta. Margaret is survived by a daughter Audrey (John) Blaylock, a son Ron; three brothers Rudy (Marlene), Weldon (Virginia), Arnold (Charm); three sisters Helen Wiebe, Tina (George) Van Rijn, and Loretta Kaminski. She was predeceased by her father John, mother Maria, four brothers Peter, John, George, Herman, and two sisters, Mary Friesen and Hilda Wiens. A Memorial Service will be at 2:00pm on Monday, June 30, 2014 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 St. South, Lethbridge, AB. Send condolences at

MARY BOBINEC
1923 ~ 2014

The family of Mary Bobinec would like to announce that she passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the age of 90. Mary was born in Pavolovce nad Uhom, Czecho-Slovakia on December 7, 1923 to Andrew and Susan Tolin. In March of 1938, she came to Canada with her mother Susan, brother Andrew and sister Susan. They found their way to Taber and worked on the sugar beet farms in the area. This is where she met her husband to be Mike, and were married in Lethbridge on January 27, 1941. They farmed for a short time in the Readymade area, and had a son Kenneth. They moved into Lethbridge in 1948 where they had another son Lawrence and this is where she resided until her passing.
She is predeceased by her parents, brother Andrew, sister Susan and husband Mike. She is survived by a step-sister Helen Petrie, son Kenneth, son Lawrence and grandchildren, great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She took great delight in her garden and growing flowers, and enjoyed camping in the summer. Cooking and baking were also one of her favorite things to do. Everyone who visited could not leave without being fed, or at least having a cup of coffee and desserts. She was a wonderful, practical, kind, gentle and giving person and will be sadly missed but happily remembered. Vigil Rites will be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at ST. BASIL¹S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604-13th Street North, Lethbridge, AB. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. PARKER

LAURA PARKER passed away suddenly at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, AB on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the age of 62 years. Laura is survived by her husband Richard, her two sons Dale and Jerry, as well as her grandson Mark. She is also remembered by her sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Laura was predeceased by both her mother and father and her brother Rob. A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta on June 30, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Aldeen officiating.

Reid, Ken, of Vulcan, passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on June 26, 2014 at the age of 76 years, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Ken is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ferne and two sons, Ward (Sandra) of Foremost and Gord (Belinda) of High River. He is also survived by two brothers Don (Joyce) and Jim (Jo), his wife¹s family, Carol (Don) Hale, Betty Carlson and Rick (Wanda) Carlson. He was predeceased by his parents Ernie and Elsie Reid, brother Gord and in-laws Carl and Kay Carlson and brother-in-law Dennis Carlson. Ken¹s wishes were that no funeral would be held.
