Angela (Angie) Schluchter, beloved wife of Bill Schluchter, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2014 at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. Angie is survived by her husband Bill from Lethbridge, daughters Donna from Edmonton and Carla from Lethbridge; sisters Mona from Delta, BC, her twin Sr Marie Bitz from St. John, NB, and Gwen (Ken) Schmidt from North Vancouver, BC.
She was predeceased by her parents Frank Bitz and Angelina Bitz (nee Ell) and brother Charles in infancy. Angie was born at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina and was raised on a farm in the Holdfast, SK area, moved to Regina in 1959. On May 1, 1965, she and Bill Schluchter were united in marriage and Regina was their home until 2008 when they moved to Lethbridge, AB. Angie courageously battled a chronic illness (Scleroderma) throughout the majority of her life. Even with these struggles she found great enjoyment in reading, spending time with family and friends and especially loved all animals. PATRICIA ³PAT² BROOKS, beloved wife of the late Michael ³Mickey² Brooks, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014 at the age of 83 years.

BROWN
BILL “MAC” BROWN, beloved husband of Anne Brown, of Lethbridge, passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre Palliative Care Unit after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the age of 87 years. Besides his loving wife Anne, Bill leaves behind his children; William (Hui) Brown of Esquimault, B.C., Fiona Brown (Brian Kinnee) and children Katrina and Stephanie Kinnee of Diamond City, AB and Elisabeth (David) Mayne and children Matthew and Justin Mayne of Winton, Queensland, Australia. He is also survived by his brother John Brown. Bill was predeceased by his parents and brothers George RAF 1940 and Robert. Bill was born and raised in Fife, Scotland, working and studying Horticulture before moving to Edinburgh and Birmingham to continue his studies.
He married Anne in 1956 and they immigrated to Canada in 1957 where he worked for the City of Edmonton Parks from 1957 to 1961. They moved to Lethbridge where he became the Superintendant of Parks and Recreation for the city from 1961 – 1987 and retired following the completion of the Urban Parks Project, where he was responsible for establishing the framework of Lethbridge’s renowned Urban Parks System. During his time in Lethbridge, he was a member of the Lethbridge Public School Board # 51 from 1970 to 1975. Bill was involved with the Royal Canadian Legion, the Southern Alberta Environmental Group, the Lethbridge Naturalist Society and Toastmasters International. He also held memberships with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh Guild as well as with the Alberta and Canada Parks and Recreation Associations. A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Bob Wallace officiating. DRAKE
CECILIA ELAINE DRAKE passed away peacefully on August 29, 2014 at the age of 84, surrounded by her loving family, following an eleven year battle with cancer. Celia was born May 7, 1930 to Cecil & Toots Gillies on the family farm at Picture Butte. She received her education in Picture Butte. In 1953 she married Gib Drake. Their family included three children: Shelley, Dawn, and Cal. She was employed by Alberta Government Telephones, Campbell¹s Hardware, & finally The Butte Dress Shoppe. She had a quick wit with a real sense of humour. Celia is survived by her three children Shelley Drake of Picture Butte; Dawn(Phil) Bear of La Ronge, SK and Cal Drake of Lethbridge; her two granddaughters Erin & Amber; her five great- grandchildren Jonah, Jeffrey, Mikayla, Jaxton, & Joseph; her sister-in-law Yoko Gillies & family Cindy, Darren(Arlene), Grant (Sandra), Dustin & Brady; her sister-in-law Frankie(Jim) Ostrup; and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Celia was predeceased by her husband Gib Drake, her parents Toots & Cecil Gillies, her brother Floyd Gillies, her brother-in-law Delbert, her sisters-in-law Mildred, Berenice, Wilma, & Beatrice. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Honey Little Mustache, Born November 30, 1966 passed away suddenly August 28, 2014, surrounded by her family, at Lethbridge Regional Hospital. Helen is Survived by her father Alphonse Little Mustache, brother Mike (Carol) Little Mustache, Sisters: Mary-Ellen and Debbie, Special friend Sharon Wolf Child and son Carlos Wolf Child, brother-in-law Eric North Peigan and Sister-in-law Bonnie Little Mustache. Numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, one great great nephew and two great great nieces.
Honey was pre-deceased by her mom Wilma Stillsmoking, grandparents: Noel & Maggie Little Mustache, William & Mabel Stillsmoking. Honey was ³one-of-a-Kind² She had a very big heart, her friends were young and old. Her greatest pleasure was shopping for Carlos her special son.
Softball was one of her passions and always vowed to revive the ³North-side Dodgers² Rodeo was also very important to her, she could throw a rope better than the most of them. Honey valued her traditional way of life, food, gift giving and she would give you the clothes on her back her generosity was part of her, she was giving and loving person. She said that she didn¹t need to have children because ³… all my nieces and nephews are my kids.² She cherished and would do anything for them. Honey was a humble person was loved life to the fullest. She will also be greatly missed by her Moses Lake family and friends. A Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the St. Paul¹s Catholic Church, Brocket, AB. with Fr. Freddy Valdivia celebrant. The two day Wake Service will take place immediately following at the residence of Alphonse Little Mustache of the Piikani Nation. The Lord took unto Himself our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Maaike Van Dijk of Shaughnessy, beloved wife of the late Mr. Lieuwe Van Dijk, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the age of 92 years. She is fondly remembered for her caring nature, singing psalms and hymns, and her passion for farming. She was born on November 10, 1921 in the Netherlands. She married Lieuwe Van Dijk, and together they raised seven children. In 1980 they immigrated to Canada with three sons, and settled on a dairy farm near Park Lake, where she was still residing at the time of her departure. She will be missed by her children Doetje and Anne Hummel (Taber), Goffe and Gre Van Dijk (The Netherlands), Ijbeltje and Klaas Biewenga (The Netherlands), Ben and Fay Van Dijk (Coaldale), Marijke and Alberta Feenstra (The Netherlands), Jan Van Dijk (Park Lake), Mike and Anne Van Dijk (Park Lake), twenty-six grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Lieuwe Van Dijk (1994) and three grandchildren Henrike Van Dijk (1997), Anne Marie Van Dijk (1997), and Leo Minnes Van Dijk (1997).  Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Thursday, September 4th at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 ­ 4th Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta. PETER HARRIS
1930 ­ 2014
Peter was born in Cambridge, England in 1930 and immigrated to Canada to attend UBC graduating with a degree in Forestry. He was an outstanding athlete winning the Fred Tees Memorial Trophy in 1953 for most outstanding Track and Field Athlete. Peter met and married his wife Irene in 1957. Together, they have three children: Tim (Elizabeth), Carolyn (Brian) and Kate (Ed) and seven grandchildren. Peter obtained his PhD in Entomology and was employed by Agriculture Canada in Belleville, ON, Regina, SK and Lethbridge, AB. As a Research Scientist working in Biological Control of noxious weeds, he lectured and published papers throughout the world. Among his numerous awards, he was made a Member of the Order of Canada in 1997. Peter truly “seized the day” and was passionate about hiking, running, cycling, swimming, skiing and gardening. A “Come and Go” Celebration of Peter¹s life will be held at the GALT MUSEUM, 502-1 Street South, Lethbridge on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to Irene Harris at piharris@shaw.ca

SWEDISH
AUDREY SUSAN SWEDISH (CHISWICK) passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Lethbridge Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 93. She was born in Lethbridge on June 6, 1921, the oldest of two daughters of George and Susan Chiswick. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Thelma Bambrick, her husband George Swedish and her son, Douglas Baines. Audrey is survived by her niece Heather Lejbjuk (George) of Lethbridge and her nephew Terry Bambrick (Dina) of Creston, B.C. as well as numerous cousins, great nieces and great nephews and their children. Audrey¹s working years included employment with the RCMP as secretary to the Officer Commanding the Sub-Division here in Lethbridge; part-time and eventually full time employment with the Lethbridge School District No. 51, where she retired as executive secretary to the Superintendent. As a secretary who doubted she would last for the three month probation period she ended up working for four different Superintendents retiring after 23 years in June of 1981. She certainly loved her job and took great pride in her work. Audrey has always been a history buff and was approached by the School District in her retirement to chronicle “The First Hundred Years” of the Lethbridge Public Schools. Five years later a 230 page distillation of 100 years of public school history “From College to Composite” was written. Audrey was a long time member of St. Augustine¹s Anglican Church. She became a member of the Sanctuary Guild at the age of 16 and taught in the primary Sunday School later serving as Superintendent of the Sunday School for five years and loved every minute of it. Auntie had many interests and talents. She worked with Brownies and also served as Guide Captain for the 1st Lethbridge Guide Company. Having joined the Order of the Eastern Star at age 18, she held the position of Worthy Matron in 1952 and again in 2000 for Laurel Chapter #43. In the early 60’s she was asked to accept the position of Director of Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and stayed with Kappa for eight years serving as City Sponsor for two years. She was also a long time member of Sakkara Temple No. 115. Audrey was an avid golfer and a long time member of the Henderson Lake Golf Club. Auntie loved to travel and took many many trips. She would rarely pass up an opportunity to go somewhere. She was a very talented lady who excelled at many hobbies including knitting, sewing, cross stitch, flower arranging to name a few. She had a quick wit and a great sense of humour and loved to entertain with her stories and poems some of which she wrote herself. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family will honour Audrey¹s request that no funeral service be held. Cremation in care of Christensen Salmon Generations.

TILLY SHACKLEFORD
1922 ~ 2014
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tilly Shackleford (nee Kutney) of Lethbridge, Alberta. Tilly passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Friday, August 22nd, 2014 at the dear age of 92. Tilly was born February 10th, 1922 in Wyznany, Poland. She immigrated to Canada with her family as a young child. Tilly centered her life around her family, and in her younger years, she greatly enjoyed gardening and baking. She will always be remembered for her delicious homemade bread, and wonderful Ukrainian dishes, as well as for traveling with her German chocolate cake layers folded carefully into her suitcase whenever she visited her daughter and grandchildren in California. Her happiest times always centered around holidays and vacations. Tilly and her husband enjoyed many trips to the Puget Sound where her sister lived and also some cherished trips to Vancouver and Mexico. Tilly is survived by her sister Mary Peterson of Bremerton, Washington; daughter Linda Kapala; granddaughters Faryn Kapala, Afton Kapala and Michelle Kapala; and great-grandson Sawyer Davis of Oak View, California; great-granddaughter Shelby Kapala of Vancouver, Canada, her nephew Peter Kutney and family from Vancouver and niece Patti Kirkpatrick and family from Oregon. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Douglas Shackleford, her parents Helen and Harry Kutney and her brother Peter Rae Kutney. Niece Sherry Findlay gave of herself to help Tilly, her aunt, in ever so many ways and that meant a great deal. Special thanks also to a team of professionals and neighbors who also were a wonderful asset to her. Each morning Tilly was greeted, basic needs were taken care of and most important conversation, care and friendship were extended. Thanks Marion, Andrea, Stephannie and Stephen. She will be missed and we thank her for her love.
