GLOVER
1928-2014
Our mother, MURIEL (MOE) ROSALIE GLOVER passed away on as fine an autumn day as one could expect in Southern Alberta. Muriel died on Monday, September 29th, 2014 at the age of 86 in beautiful surroundings with her loved ones at her side. Muriel leaves to mourn her son Tom Glover (Andrea); daughters Jayne Ference and Barb (Francis) Konrad and her beloved grandchildren Walker, Kylen, Katie and Elizabeth. Å’Aunty Moe¹ will be missed by those who regarded her as their second mother – Merrill Gilraine (Wayne); Brenley Ogden (Karl, Lindsey, Karmen), Paul Shmygol, Mark Shmygol (Carol, Scout & Billy); and especially her dear niece Dilene Sorochan (Don & David) as well as many other family members. She will be greatly missed by her close friends Phyllis & Bob Alexander, Bev & Bill Robertson, who supported her daily over many years. Also mourning her passing are many other long-time friends. Muriel was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan in 1928 to Mary Eliza (Montgomery) and Roslyn Young. She resided in Yorkton for 10 years and then moved with her family to Carmen, Manitoba where she later met her husband Charlie (who predeceased her in 2012). She was also predeceased by her two brothers and one sister. Our mother had an incredible zest for life she was interested in everything and everyone. Moe was loving, funny, feisty, and most of all, a generous person who did things for people for the simple joy of giving and never expected anything in return. The world has lost a special person – our mother will be missed very much but she knew this time comes to us all and we must go on as she would have wished (or in her case, Å’demanded¹) us to do so. The family would like to thank all those who in turn, extended a hand to mom over the course of her life and especially during these last weeks. Thank you to friends, family and neighbours for your support and to the compassionate medical staff for their excellent care of our mother at the Chinook Regional Hospital and St. Michaels Health Centre Palliative Care. Muriel will be laid to rest in Roland, Manitoba alongside her husband.
Tributes & Memories will be shared at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with a light lunch to follow. ³The loss of a mother can never be replaced, but the love of a mother can never be lost.²

ROADHOUSE, Jan Michele
The family of Jan Michele Roadhouse of Brantford, ON, invite her family and friends to a celebration of her life. Jan went into peace at her home in Brantford, surrounded by love, on May 12, 2014, age 51. Jan was born and raised in Lethbridge, AB. She is the beloved youngest daughter of Doug and the late Irene Roadhouse, and cherished sister of Karen (Al Fossati) and Lori (Ted Haney) of Calgary. She dearly loved and was loved by her nieces and nephew, Krystina, Joelle, Kesinee and Douglas. She was predeceased by her mother, Irene, in 1992. Jan maintained some lifelong Lethbridge friendships, especially with Norma Williams and Lori Mulholland King. The family is so grateful that Norma was able to be with Jan in her final days and moments. Jan began university at the U of L, then at Edmonton’s U of A, where she completed her training as a Speech-Language Pathologist. The friends Jan made there became her very close friends, and as they all migrated eastward, became her Ontario family: Rochelle Bouchir (Chris), Deb DeKroon (Paul), Kathy Smith (David), and Lori Janzen (Ken). These lovely women gave Jan more children who called her Auntie: Jack and Tess; Owen and Kiera; Bronwyn and Keegan; and Connor and Evan. Jan also loved Wendy and Randy Squires, and their son Stephen. After moving to S. Ontario, Jan worked as a SL-P at a number of facilities, including: Norfolk General, St. Joseph’s, and Brantford General Hospitals; and the Adult Recreation Therapy Centre. After completing her Master of Speech-Language Pathology in 1999, Jan became passionate about treating aphasia. Through this, Jan met Steve and Carol Goff, and their affinity for spreading the word about aphasia blossomed into a deep friendship. They worked together to set up the Aphasia Camp programs in the area. Jan was admired for her integrity as a respected member of her community and profession. Jan lived a life of passion, and since first discovering her favourite book, Charlotte’s Web as a child, Jan exemplified a life full of “Ordinary Miracles.” We invite you join us in a celebration of her Passionate Life on Saturday, Oct 4th, 2014, at 2:00 pm, at McKillop United Church with Rev. Trevor Potter officiating. Those wishing to do so may make donations to any of the following: Adult Recreation Therapy Centre; Juravinski Cancer Centre; Princess Margaret Cancer Centre; Brant Community Healthcare System Music Therapy Program; Stedman Hospice Foundation, or that of your choice.

McDonald Reed Asplund, passed away in Taber on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the age of 52 years. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, October 6, 2014 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. Condolences may be forwarded by visiting our website at http://www.southlandfuneral.com <http://www.southlandfuneral.com> . Mickey is survived by his brothers Paul, Garnet and Matthew all of Edmonton as well as many of his beloved relatives both near and far. He was predeceased by his parents Beverly (nee Hunter) and Kenley Asplund and by his sister Rhonda. Mickey was the second child and first son born to Kenley and Beverly Asplund. He spent over thirty years in the agricultural retail business, starting as a young man at Agri Fertilizer in Taber and concluding with Crop Production Services in Vauxhall. As a mature student, he recognized the need for higher education and returned to Lethbridge College and achieved an agricultural diploma. Mickey had a work ethic that earned him the respect of his peers and his customers. He witnessed many changes in the agricultural field and had the opportunity to work with people who were not only his customers and co-workers but who became over time, his closest and dearest friends. Mickey was a great storyteller. He had the ability to take life¹s experiences and wind them into a story that would leave you gasping for air. He had the way of saying something that left little to interpretation. His forthright nature, his honesty and his wisdom were the reason he was so often surrounded by his many friends. Whether it was talking about his beloved Habs, hockey generally, agriculture or current events, he had the ability to talk to anyone and in doing so shared insights that reflected his sharp and cleaver mind. Mickey had a great love for his family both living and those that have passed away. He travelled through Alberta and the United States seeking out those who had come before him.
Mickey was active in many organizations which sought to bring hope and the light of God to the lives of others. His focus on the needs of others and on serving those around him was a lifelong trait. There were many during his life who leaned on Mickey for advice and support in their times of need which he willingly provided. He epitomized the characteristics described within Luke 6:29-30; if you had asked him for his cloak he would have provided you his coat as well. Mickey will be missed by all who knew him, for his companionship, his advice, his help in times of need and for his always willing hands. We have truly lost a gentle, kind and loving man.
