Fred was born June 16, 1950 in Creston BC. He grew up on the family farm in Yahk BC with his 8 brothers and sisters: Marlene, Patti, Sheila, Lonny, Kevin, Tracy, Harold, and Nick. While there, he developed an amazing work ethic and a love of service for others. His early hobbies included hunting, fishing, and working the farm with his family. His Grandpa Oscar Johnson was an influential mentor in his early years, as were his mom and dad. Later, he and his dad opened a garage in Cardston. He married Carol Sheen on February 17, 1973 in the Cardston Alberta Temple. Both Fred and Carol struggled with major health concerns early in their marriage but, despite this, they persevered and had a wonderful marriage together. He was a dedicated father to his three children and the best grandfather any child could ask for. His family was his world and he took the responsibility to care for them to levels rarely seen. He worked for 25 years with Don Carlson at D’s Service. There, he made countless friends from all walks of life. He had a special love for the Native people who he served at the garage and in the Kainai Branch. Fred can be described as the ultimate example of integrity, love, service, and faithfulness to the gospel of Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege to know him. His Christ like influence will be felt for generations to come.
