HELEN DUNSMORE
1919 ~ 2014
Helen Thelma Dunsmore of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late George Harris Dunsmore, passed away peacefully at her home at the Legacy Lodge, Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the age of 95 with family at her side. A dearly loved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Aunt, Helen was born at home near Brock, Saskatchewan April 25, 1919, the fifth of eight children. Helen, her mother and siblings moved to Alberta around 1940. In 1950 Helen married her husband George, and they had two children together. Helen is survived by her two children, Eugene (Judy) Dunsmore of Enchant, and Faye Dunsmore of Lethbridge; four grandchildren, Tracy (Jessica) Dunsmore of Swift Current, Steven (Kim) Dunsmore of Enchant, Craig (Bobbie) Dunsmore of Coaldale, and Meghan Dunsmore of Lethbridge; and six great-grandchildren, Pierce, Jadyn & Tyra Dunsmore of Enchant, Joline and Paxton Dunsmore of Swift Current, and Mikayla Dunsmore of Coaldale; one sister-in-law, Jessie Dunsmore of Innisfail, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Besides her beloved husband, George, Helen was predeceased by her parents Hattie & Taulo Skrove, seven siblings, nine brothers-in-law, seven sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. For Helen, family was the center of her world and there was no effort she would not make for someone she considered her family, whether they were related or not. She loved to gather family and friends together for a meal, a cup of coffee, and a good visit. A woman of unwavering faith, Helen spent many hours studying her bible and seeking God¹s wisdom. She was also a very talented woman who could do anything she set her mind to, and enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and many other crafts; cooking, baking, raising chickens, turkeys and geese, growing a bountiful garden, and the most beautiful flowers. She made the best lefse and gave most of it away. Helen had great wit, and she loved to tease and joke and laugh with everyone. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 St S, Lethbridge, AB. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 St. S., Lethbridge, AB, with Pastor Jeff Frostad, officiating. Immediately following the service, a lunch will be held at Martin Brothers. Interment will then follow in the Enchant Cemetery. HOGENSON
MARVYN WILLIAM HOGENSON, beloved husband of Hilda LaVeeda (Larson) Hogenson, quietly departed this life on November 22, 2014 in the Cardston, Alberta, hospital. Marvyn taught art and French at the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute for several years, and then moved to the Lethbridge Community College where he taught until he retired in 1989. He received his B.Ed. from the University of Alberta; his B.Sc. from the University of Lethbridge and his Master¹s Degree from the BYU. He was always active in the LDS Church where he served in many different capacities over the years. Perhaps his favorite calling was as a bishop in Stirling. He loved to work, and he loved people. As a young man, he served a mission in France and after his retirement in 1990, he and his wife served missions in Madagascar twice and once in Zaire. Marvyn loved art. He taught at the Lethbridge Sketch Club, and sold his beautiful painted scenes across Canada and in the United States. Marvyn leaves to mourn five children: Nita (Rand) Patterson, Saratoga Springs, Utah; Allan (Sharon) Hogenson, Calgary; Kevin (Shawna) Hogenson, Stirling; Dr. Eric (Jana) Hogenson, Spanish Fork, Utah; and Daryl Hogenson, Provo, Utah. He leaves 25 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. His daughter Linda preceded him in death on December 15, 1987. His kind, friendly presence will be missed by his family and many friends.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Stirling, Alberta (413-3rd St.) on Wednesday, November 26th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Lamar Wilde officiating. Mr. John Vander Linden passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the age of 73 years. Greg Thompson born July 21, 1967 passed away November 7, 2014 at the age of 47 years. Greg is survived by his soul mate and partner, Lindsay Hrenyk, his stepson Joe Lesoway, Amanda, Jasmine and Piper. Grandson Nathan, his parents Bud and Opal Thompson, sister Celeste (Jim) Beer, his aunt Rayleen (Gene) Kinzell; also Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Nephews. Greg was predeceased by his Grandparents, Leonard Ringstad in 1982, Norma Ringstad in 2000, Leonard Thompson in 1990 and Katherine Thompson in 1989. Our Wonderful Son, Father, Grandfather and Uncle Greg. If you needed a helping hand, Greg was there. If you needed a caring shoulder, Greg was there. Greg tried to be the best father he knew how and a wonderful lifemate who¹s time was cut too short. Greg you will be remembered fondly and lovingly by many. 1925 – 2014
Following a lengthy illness with Alzheimer¹s disease, Annie Epp (nee Funk) of Taber (formerly of Vauxhall and Lethbridge), went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the age of 89 years. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. The Burial Service will be held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Cemetery (travel north of Vauxhall on Highway 36 almost seven kilometers, then head east on Township Road 140 just over one kilometer) on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. The Funeral Service will be held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 – 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Annie is survived by her seven children Elsie (John) Fast of Coaldale, John (Eldonna) Epp of Calgary, Allen (Lois) Epp of Kelowna, British Columbia, Linda (Art) Thiessen of Vauxhall, David Epp of Saskatchewan, Lois (Harold) Schmidtz of Cold Lake and Rick (Paula) Epp of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She will be fondly remembered by sixteen grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren. Annie is also survived by her sister Elsie Thiessen of Tofield; in-laws Ankie Epp of Coaldale, Margaret Epp, David (Margaret) Epp and Marie (Rudy) Dick all of Abbotsford, British Columbia and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by John, her husband of sixty eight years; parents Henry and Helena Funk; grandsons Kevin Thiessen and Darren Epp; great granddaughter Sarah Maksymchuk; four siblings and twelve in-laws. Annie was born to Henry and Helena Funk on June 15, 1925 in Prangenau, Russia. She married John Epp in 1944, and both were baptized in the Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church in 1950. They farmed between Vauxhall and Coaldale until their retirement to Lethbridge in 1990. They remained in their own home until 2010, when due to declining health, they moved to a seniors residence and finally, a nursing home.
Annie¹s life revolved around her dedication to her family. She was totally fulfilled in her roles as wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed socializing with friends and participating in church related functions. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Annie¹s name may be made directly to the Good Samaritan Society, Linden View, 4700 – 64 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 0C6. The family wishes to thank the Linden View Good Samaritan Society and their staff for the compassionate care given to Annie.
