ADRIENNE ALICE BISHOP
September 30, 1923 – November 24, 2014
Adrienne was born in Hillspring, Alberta on September 30, 1923. She passed away peacefully with family at her side on Monday, November 24. Adrienne’s spent the last 5 years living at St. Therese Villa in Lethbridge after the passing of her best friend and husband (Herbert). She is survived by her 7 children: Dawn Bishop (Kirk McIlwaith, deceased), Dyan (Tink) Petterson, Judi (Les) Baker, Lu-Anne (Les) Martenson, Mark (Nola) Bishop, Kori (Mark) Kuryvial and Mischa Prince; 22 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, as well as a brother Vernon Garner, and a sister Gladys Shipton. Adrienne was best known and loved for her kindness, quick wit and love for family and friends. She enjoyed music, gardening and surrounding herself with beauty. She had a passion for cultivating flowers and friendships. She loved immensely and was loved in return. She made everyone’s day a whole lot brighter! Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, FAIRMONT CHAPEL, 205 Fairmont Blvd. South, Lethbridge. Friends may meet the family prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Interment in the Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond.

MATKIN
HEBER LAMONT MATKIN, beloved husband of Rhea Card Matkin, peacefully passed from his lifetime of service on November 17, 2014 in his home at Lethbridge at age 93. Lamont was born in Cardston on December 20, 1920 to Heber J and Loreen Matkin. He served a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ontario before joining the RCAF. During that time he married his eternal sweetheart Rhea Card in the Cardston Alberta temple. He made many lifelong friends in the community through his work as a dentist and in his many leadership positions in the Church. Dad was a doer who loved to serve others and who had a deep love and commitment to his family and his Church. He filled his life with faith and Christ-like service, and in his quiet and humble way went about doing good. Lamont was a lover of nature and enjoyed the mountains. As a young man he developed a beautiful singing voice. Above all, Lamont¹s kindness and wise counsel will be remembered by many. He was a gifted teacher and leader, known for his integrity, dependability, his love for people, as well as his pleasant personality and quick wit. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 70 years, Rhea Matkin and his six daughters: Gayle (Boyd) Whitesides, Carol (Warren) Roundy, Mary (Robert) Bissett, Eva Matkin, Donna Wood, Maren (Devin) Cahoon; 28 grandchildren; 65 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Lamont especially had an unconditional love for his posterity. He is survived by his sisters, Eva Thompson and Ruth Anderson, and sister-in-law Clara Matkin Spackman. The family would like to express their sincere thanks for those who have served and cared for our father and family during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humanitarian or Perpetual Education fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LETHBRIDGE STAKE CENTRE, 2410-28 Street South, Lethbridge, with President Jesse Wilde officiating. MAY (MISAO) SARUWATARI
(NEE NISHIYAMA)
1931 ~ 2014
Mom was born on May 2, 1931 in Sapperton, New Westminster, British Columbia, to Hide and Kohei Nishiyama. As the youngest she was spoiled by her parents, her brothers Jack and Mac Nishiyama and her sisters Betty Tanigami, Fumi Sugimoto and Kaz Sugimoto. Mom moved to Raymond, Alberta after the war where she married her sweetheart and next door neighbor, Sakae Saruwatari, on February 19, 1955. They had 5 children Richard, Philip, Joy, Cary and Gaye. She was the honorary auntie and grandma to many. While in Raymond, Mom enjoyed working at Melchin Motors, local grocery stores and, finally, the Raymond Care Centre. She was also a solid partner to Dad as he farmed and operated his repair business. They retired in 1994 and moved to Lethbridge the following year. In retirement, she was a busy and active grandma, attending countless hockey and soccer games and school functions near and far. Over the years, Mom always enjoyed her regular shopping excursions with her sister Fumi. Mom is survived by Dad; kids Rick (Wendy), Phil (Tammy), Joy (Darcy), Cary (Eileen) and Gaye (Kalvin); Grandchildren Jeff (Katie), Justin (Desiree), Mitchell, Brendon, Meygan, Terra (Neil), Dana (Ellen), Patrick, Candice (David), Matthew, Leah and Jada; Great Grandchildren Weston, Damon, Aria, Talia, Jayden, Mya, Cearra, Emma and coming soon Baby Girl Saruwatari. Unfortunately, after a hard fought battle against cancer, Mom passed away on November 24, 2014. She always kept her shining spirit, beautiful smile and gracious nature throughout. We would like to thank Dr. Shukkoor, Celeste, Lorelei and all of the fantastic staff at the St. Michael¹s Palliative Care Centre for all of their compassion and support during this difficult time. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, sister and “Mommy Orich”, DIANE ROSE (MERCER) ORICH, on November 22, 2014, in Calgary, AB., due to complications from cancer.
She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters Roxanne (Gerald) Remington and Tammy Orich of Lethbridge. Mom is also survived by her five siblings; George (Marj), Harold (Carol), Ken (Sandy) Mercer and sister Barb (Bill) Orich and families, special sister-in-law Gladys Orich and step-son Allan (Sharon) Orich. She had other children that she loved and considered her own; Danielle Bilodeau, Leah LaPierre, Mike Straga, Nicolle Lagasse and many others that she had loved and cared for. She also leaves her furball friends, Coco and Buddy. Mom was predeceased by her husband Billy and children Robert and Joely. MARJORIE CATHERINE of Burnaby BC born February 9, 1931 in Lethbridge AB passed away peacefully November 20, 2014 at the age of 83. Predeceased by her husband, the late Emil Picard, and by her parents Anna & Peter Seaman and sister June Seaman. Survived by her daughter Michelle (Mark); her son Kevin (Angela); and granddaughters Rebecca, Breanna and Emily and many other family members. Marjorie enjoyed baking, hosting family dinners, attending the opera and symphony and cruising around the world. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation. JOSEPH DON SMITH, beloved husband of Mary Smith, of Nobleford, Alberta, passed away suddenly, on Wednesday, November 19th, 2014 at the age of 66 years. Besides his loving wife he is survived by his family; Rennie & Rita Smith of Stoney Plain, AB, Harold & Sylvia Boser of Sherwood Park, AB, Myrna & Phillip Stewart of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. His children Charlie & Gloria Smith of Regina, Sask. Jonathon Smith of Medicine Hat. Arthur (AJ) Smith of Calgary, Alberta. Rosalyn Smith of Calgary, Alberta. Ken & Elisa Rogers of Calgary, Alberta. Jenn Rogers & Joe Whalen of Nobleford, Alberta. Joe also leaves behind his precious Grandchildren, Morgan Phillips of Nobleford, Alberta, who was his little girl and Best Friend. Jazmin Smith, Christopher Smith, and Samantha Smith of Sask, Laura and Riley Rogers of Calgary, Alberta. As well as special friends whom were like family. Marlowe & Darlene Smith & Family of Lethbridge, Alberta. Dick & Olive Metz & Family of Coalhurst, Alberta. Many co-workers past and present, countless friends throughout Canada and U.S.A. At the time of Joe Sudden Passing he was employed by Marlowe Smith Trucking, whom he spent many great years working for. Joe Was the eldest of 4 children born to Charlie and Adeline Smith (Beck) of Altario, Alberta. He was predeceased by his parents, step dad, grandparents, many aunts, uncles. Joe loved living on the farm and fixing things, but at a certain age he decided to test his wings and started exploring Canada, ending up in Ontario where he stayed for some time before heading back to Alberta where he worked various jobs, but always went back to trucking. Joe resided in the Lethbridge area since the late 1970¹s and most of that time was spent driving truck. He had a passion for sharing travelling trucking stories throughout Canada and USA. And was extremely proud of the fact that he was able to put his toes in 3 Oceans. Joe loved to tease and or scare anyone, which usually ended up with him chuckling and saying ³Ha Ha Gotch Ya² Joe was always capable of making people smile and laugh. Joes presence will be sadly missed by all who knew him. May you continue on your journey ³Papa Joe² your memory will live on in our hearts forever. Love you and Miss You. MRS. SHIRLEY E. SMITH, beloved wife of 21 years to Mr. M. Douglas Smith, of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit, on Tuesday, November 25th, 2014 at the age of 73 years. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by three children, Juigaidie (Kathy) Cayenne of Lethbridge, Lori Cayenne of Lethbridge and Denver (Sheila) Cayenne of Claresholm; three grandchildren Jeffery, Jordan and Matthew Cayenne. Shirley was predeceased by one brother Raymond and three sisters, Margaret, Kathy and Hillary. A private family service will be held at a later date. WALTON
LESLIE KENNETH WALTON passed away November 18, 2014 in Cardston Alberta at the age of 93. He was born January 13, 1921 in Raymond, Alberta to William Danie Walton and Mabel Nunns Crandall. He was married in the Cardston Alberta Temple to his sweetheart Naida Ruby Harding on September 10, 1947 and has been her loving companion for over 67 years. He is survived by his wife Naida and their 5 children David (Mary) Walton, Janet (Terry) Wolsey, Bryce (Sandy) Walton, Jim (LeAnn) Walton & Dianne (Jeff) Taylor along with their 32 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. Five of his siblings also survive him, Fern Hennessy, Louise (Dan) Henrie, Marjorie Henrie, Bonnie Law and Andrew (Kathy) Walton. Raised in Southern Alberta, Ken spent most of his life in Calgary working for Imperial Oil as a Land Man. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served faithfully in many positions including Bishop, Temple Sealer and Patriarch. Ken and Naida served missions in India and Washington D.C. Ken is a charitable humble man who is loved and will not be forgotten. The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, South Hill Chapel, Cardston on Saturday, November 29th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Kendall Hardy officiating. Friends may meet the family at the Church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the Service. Interment in the Cardston Cemetery.
