Dr. Hans Lewke of Milk River, formerly of Calgary, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Magda Lewke, passed away peacefully at the Milk River Hospital on November 22, 2014 at the age of 98 years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 12:00pm at the ST. PETER¹S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 321 Main Street N.W, Milk River, AB. Flowers are gratefully declined. Hyslip, Megan Anne, of Vulcan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at Foothills Hospital in Calgary on December 11, 2014 at the age of 26 years. Megan was born in Vulcan to Noel and Deb Hyslip on December 7, 1988. She attended Hazel Cameron Elementary and County Central High School, graduating Grade 12 in 2007. Megan moved to Lethbridge and became a nail technician where she loved to create and design different works of art for people. She still loved to come home and considered the ³country² her way of life, often coming home to cook at harvest time. Megan is lovingly remembered by her beloved parents Noel and Deb Hyslip, brother Jay Hyslip, Grandma Mary Hyslip of Vulcan and Grandma and Step Grandpa Gerdie Greene-Rice and Jack Rice of Lethbridge, AB, numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins and close friend Jennifer Way. Megan was predeceased by her sister Erin Hyslip, grandpas Amond Hyslip of Vulcan, AB and Boyd Greene of Lethbridge, AB. A private family service will be held, with inurnment in Vulcan Cemetery. Brian Simpson beloved husband of Jeannine Simpson passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the age of 74 years. Besides his loving wife Jeannine, Brian is survived by his children and their spouses, Neil and Linda Simpson and Renee and Todd Hill; his grandchildren Lauren, Mitchell, Paige and Grayson; his brother and sister-in-law Maurice and Marlene Simpson; his nieces and nephews Bruce, Greg, Michael, Steven, Sean, Kevin, Brian, Shannon and their families. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers. CATHERINE TRAVALIA, beloved wife of Walter Travalia, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the age of 87 years. Besides her loving husband, Catherine is survived by her daughter Joan Carter of Lethbridge and grandchildren Tim (Dianne) Carter, Terry (Shelley) Carter, great-grandchildren Larae, Marshall, Nicole and Blake, sisters Agnes (Roy) Craik, Anita (Fiore) Berlin, brothers Tony (Lorraine) Van Leuken and John (Audrey) Van Leuken, sisters-in-law Susie Van Leuken, Beth Walker and Evelyn (Ben) Herter as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Marinus and Maria Van Leuken, brother Marineo (Doc) Van Leuken, son-in-law Ben Carter, brothers-in-law William Travalia and Peter Walker and sister-in-law Rose Travalia. Catherine was born in Coalhurst, AB, and married the love of her life, Walter in 1945. They spent 70 wonderful years together. She was a devout Catholic and attended St. Basil’s Church regularly. She was a lifelong seamstress and forged many lasting friendships with the people she sewed for. She loved reading, camping and time with her family. WELCH
JIM WELCH, beloved husband of Arlene Welch, of Cardston, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Friday, December 12th, 2014 at the age of 83 years. Besides his loving wife Arlene, Jim is remembered by his family, James (Lisa) of Glenwood, AB, Ken (Elisabeth) of Sweden, Bill of Calgary, Linda (Dwayne) Huber on a farm S.E. of Cardston, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild. Jim is also survived by one brother Glen (Virgina) Welch of Wainwright, AB. He was predeceased by his father Henry in 1971, mother Lillian in 1988 and a sister Hazel in 1985. Jim accomplished much in his life including raising four children. He was a farmer and rancher for more than 80 years. He was compassionate, thoughtful and a honorable man who loved his family and animal companions. Jim loved the country way of life. He spent all 83 years of his life on the farm south and east of Cardston, near the Milk River Ridge. In the last few years of his life, he was able to climb on his ATV, and ride out to the pasture to check on his cows. He was truly happy then. His quiet courage, strength of spirit, creativity and sense of humour will be carried forward by those who knew him. He will be sadly missed as a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. A private family service will be held at a later date with his cremated remains scattered on his farm.
