JUHAR
PAUL JUHAR, beloved husband of the late Pauline Juhar, formerly of Sundial and Turin, passed away at the Edith Cavell Nursing Home on Saturday, December 20th, 2014 at the age of 86 years. He is lovingly remembered by his children, John (Sheila) Juhar, Anita (Rick) Nieuwendyk, Terry (Bernie) Sjostrom and his three grandsons Jeff (Stephanie), Jason and Darcy Juhar. He is also survived by his sisters in law, Rose (Tony) Hormoth, Daniella (Ken) Beet, Mary (Darrell) Wall and Millie Fen as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Slovakia. Paul was predeceased by his loving wife Pauline, his parents John and Mary Juhar and his siblings Maria, Frantisek, Jan and Imrick. Paul was born July 30, 1928 in Podproc, Slovakia, the youngest of five children. He immigrated to Canada in 1951, working at various jobs from coal mining to hospital maintenance before settling on farming as his lifetime occupation.
Paul married Pauline Kubik on Sept. 21, 1957. They farmed in the Sundial area before moving to the hamlet of Turin. Paul continued actively farming well into his 70’s. A Memorial Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Deacon Cliff Bogdan officiating. MARY KLASSEN
JANUARY 10, 1928 Â – DECEMBER 21, 2014

Mary Klassen, dearly beloved wife of the late Jacob J. (Jake) Klassen, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Sunday December 21, 2014, at the age of 86 years. Mary (born Maria Krahn), the oldest of six children, was born in Neuendorf, Ukraine. She was baptized in 1943 and later that year began a long journey with her mother, siblings, aunts and cousins, arriving in Soest, Westfalen in 1945, where they stayed until they were allowed to immigrate to Canada. Mary and her immediate family arrived by the ship, Beaverbrae, in Quebec and took the train to Coaldale, Alberta, arriving in June 1948. Mary married her sweetheart, Jake, on September 17, 1950. Mary enjoyed her role as a nurturing mother and devoted wife. She helped Jake run his business, Klassen Construction Alta Ltd. Mary had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed preparing family dinners and always welcomed friends into their home. She was an active member of the Coaldale Mennonite Church and for many years, the Sunbeam Sewing Circle. Her interests included gardening, sewing, golfing and baking. In her later years she devoted much of her time and energy as a prayerful grandmother encouraging her family on their Christian path. Our dear, sweet mother, grandmother/Oma blessed us all with her kindness, graciousness and wisdom. Everyone who came to visit her in her home was offered some of her wonderful baking or cooking (zweibach, cookies, borscht). Mary is survived by her children  Alfred (Patrice) Klassen of Sherwood Park, Irene (Harry) Penner of Lethbridge, Norma (Don) Friesen of Burlington, ON; Grandchildren  Brent (Elisa) Klassen, Andrea (Brad and great-grandchildren Caleb, & Graham) Buechler, Bryan (Vanessa and great-grandchildren Genevieve and Henrik) Klassen, Alyssa (Adan) Zavala, and Olivia Klassen, Joel and Jeff Penner, Stephen (Janelle) Penner, Jessica (Kiley and great-grandchildren Kaden and Reise) Podhordeski, Adrien and Annika Friesen; brothers, Jake (Rita) Krahn, Henry (Trudy) Krahn, and sister Anne (Ferdi) Peters; brother in-law Gerald (fiancée Ralyn) Klassen; sisters in-law Nettie (Willie) Hildebrandt, Lydia (Jake) Retzlaff, Amelia (John) Dyck, Heidi (John) Retzlaff, Sara (Dave) Derksen, Kate (Dennis) Harder, Elizabeth, Susan and Hilda Klassen; and numerous dear cousins, nephews and nieces and all their children. Mary is predeceased by her parents David and Maria Krahn; her husband, Jake; brother David Krahn and baby sister Lena Krahn; parents-in-law Jacob and Aganeta Klassen; brothers-in-law David, Daniel and Henry Klassen; sister-in-law Linda Klassen; and nephew James Harder. We will dearly miss being together with our mom, grandmother/Oma but she will live in our hearts forever. Family and friends are invited to visit and share their memories at the viewing, Monday, December 29, 7  8pm at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610  4 Street S., Lethbridge. Interment will be at the COALDALE CEMETERY on Tuesday, December 30 at 1:00pm for family and friends. Everyone is warmly invited to a Celebration of Life at 2:00pm at the COALDALE MENNONITE CHURCH, 2316  17 Street, Coaldale, with Pastors Lillian Thompson and Werner Janzen officiating. MIFFLIN
ROBERT CLARE MIFFLIN, beloved husband of Priscilla Mifflin of Lethbridge, passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre on Friday, December 19th, 2014 at the age of 83 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Mitch (Jackie) of Lethbridge and Marty of Barons, one sister, Madeline Irvine of Barons, nieces and nephews Chuck Clark of Claresholm, Rhonda Clark of Lethbridge, Terry Irvine, Garry Irvine, Lee Irvine and Barb Erler all of Lethbridge, three grandchildren Kayla Mifflin, Kelsey Mifflin and Kelly Mifflin; one great grandchild Keaton Robert Clare Arnestad. Robert was predeceased by his father, Charlie, mother Inga, and one sister, Charlotte Clark. Robert was born on September 30th, 1931 in Claresholm, Alberta. He loved many things in life, including his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He also loved hunting, fishing, camping and being outside even more than bacon!. He had a great sense of humour even right up to when he passed. He will be sadly missed but his memory will live on. The family thanks the caring staff at C.R.H. and St. Michael’s.

STANKO
VERA PURNELL STANKO passed away in Lethbridge on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 at the age of 96. Vera was born Oct. 21, 1918 at Woolford, Alberta to Sadie Glover and Shem Goaslind Purnell. She was the 8thof 12 children. A track star in high school, she went on to become a cosmetologist and eventually owned the Silverdale Beauty Shop from 1956 until her retirement. Vera was an accomplished cook, gardener, quilter, artist, a true generous friend, and community volunteer. She walked or hiked almost every day with friends. She married Nestor Stanko Dec. 13, 1939 in Cardston, AB. Nestor died May 26, 1994. They had two children: N. Leroy Stanko (Rosann) North Logan, UT; and Melanie Zimmerman (Dean), Alpine, UT. Vera has 7 grandchildren: Tamara Stanko Bond, Hong Kong; Brian Leroy Stanko (Terra), Hyrum, UT; David Zimmerman (Jennifer), Derby, KS; Michelle Smith (Greg), Alpine, UT; Michael Zimmerman (Kerri), Corona, CA; Jared Zimmerman (Josie), Brookfield, MO; Jacqueline Candland (Spencer), Eagle Mountain, UT; and 27 great grandchildren. Vera was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a choir member, and an inspiration to her children, grandchildren and extended family. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS – LETHBRIDGE STAKE CENTRE, 2410-28 Street South, Lethbridge. Friends may meet the family prior to the service at the church from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge. REYNOLD TIRLING, beloved husband of the late Anna Tirling, passed away at the Coaldale Health Centre on Monday, December 22, 2014 at the age of 90 years. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Omray Curtis of Lethbridge and Eldon Tirling of Victoria, B.C., his grandchildren, Tony (Megan) Curtis of Coaldale, Tara (Kevin) Vucurevich of Lethbridge, Shannon Tirling of Vancouver, B.C. and Chelsey Tirling of Victoria, B.C., and his great-grandchildren Brody and Mackenzie Curtis and Mila and Nikki Vucurevich. Reynold is also fondly remembered by his three brothers, Helmut (Dorothy) Tirling of Edmonton, Ken (Jeannie) Tirling of Houston, Texas, Eric Tirling of Camrose and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his wife Anna, he was predeceased by his two sisters, Ida Stratt and Irna Gommeringer. A Private Family Service will be held at a later date where Reynold and Anna’s cremated remains will be laid to rest. Paul Driedger, beloved husband of Tasha Henry, passed away unexpectedly in Taber on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the age of 35 years.
