BRENNAN EVERETT WINDRUM
1987 ~ 2015
Brennan Everett Windrum of Coaldale, Alberta, beloved son of Donna Windrum and Larry Batalden, passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2015 at the age of 27 beautiful years. Brennan was born in Lethbridge but spent many months at the Children’s Hospital in Calgary. His happiest place to be was home with his mom and dad. Brennan’s favourite people were grandma and grandpa Reading who spent many cherished times together. Some of Brennan’s favourite years were attending Kate Andrews School being taught by Trudy and Terry. Brennan’s favourite things to do were swimming, gym class, field trips, long walks and especially the Handi-Bus. Brennan had the gift to put a smile on everyone’s face who greeted him. Brennan will always be loved and remembered by all who knew him. Many thanks to Linda and Leigh-Ann and all the other caregivers who cared for Brennan throughout his life. Brennan is survived by his mom and dad, Uncle David and cousin Paul Reading, and numerous loved aunts, uncles and cousins. Brennan was predeceased by his sister Nicole, grandma and grandpa Reading, grandma and grandpa VanderHulst and Grandpa Lawrence and great grandmas and grandpas and numerous other family members. Heaven now has another special angel. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday Jan. 7, 2015 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th St. S., with Glenda Wert, officiating. The family announces the passing of our loving wife and mother Gladys Harper (Odenvald) at the age of 83 at the St. Michael¹s Health Care Centre. Gladys is survived by her husband Roy and children Margaret Hardy (Andy), Norma Kaustinen (Ed), Roy Harper and David Harper (Tracy) as well as 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Jean Cherniwchan, Liz Romivak, Mary Kowal, Florence French and 1 brother John. Gladys was predeceased by 1 brother and 1 sister. Gladys enjoyed crafts, gardening, sewing and spending time in the outdoors. She was an avid watcher of curling, baseball and hockey. What she enjoyed most though was spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren sharing lots of laughs and good times. The family would like to thank the team at St. Michael¹s Palliative Care. As per Gladys¹ wishes, no funeral will be held. JOHN HENRY CARNEY

Dad was born in Bellevue, Alberta and raised in Pincher Creek. Over the years he was a rancher, coalminer, police officer, business owner (Westwind Taxi), husband, son and grandfather. On April 10, 1943 he married Edna Mary Lewis. John is survived by two sons Barry (Sophie) Carney of Cowley and Dennis (Ann) Carney of Red Deer as well as 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Dad was predeceased by Edna, his parents James and Mary (Petiot) Carney, Harold and Ivy (Goodwin) Lewis and a daughter-in-law Angela (Bruder) Carney. Since 2011, dad has resided at Vista Village under the care of the many special care givers and Lovi Scott and her extensive team with AHS.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Friday January 9, 2015 at the COWLEY COMMUNITY HALL, Cowley; Alberta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vista Village Residence Fund, Box 1510, Pincher Creek, AB.

FLOYD MANY FINGERS passed away in Lethbridge on December 28th, 2014 at the age of 85 years. Floyd was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Marjorie Many Fingers (Goodstriker). Floyd was the only surviving member of Morris and Annie (nee Pace) Many Fingers, and was part of the Mamioyiiksi (Fish Eater Clan). His siblings were: Albert (Margaret) Soop, Frank (Kate) Red Crow, Margaret (George) Fox, Wallace (Helen) Fox, Christine (Rufus) Goodstriker, Agnes (William) Little Bear, Dennis, and an Infant. Floyd and Marjorie raised their six children, Bob (Late Ann), Randolf (Marjorie), Cynthia (Harris), Carol, Jennifer, Eugene (Glenda). They had 16 grandchildren, 38 great- grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Adopted Children were Wilton Goodstriker, Leonard Little Bear, Greg Smith, Henry Creighton, Hugh Healy, Peggy Big Throat, Norman Many Fingers, Darryl Little Bear, Donald Little Bear & Shawn Little Bear. Floyd was a lifetime Minor Chief of the Blood Reserve. He served on council for fifteen years. Floyd continued to be politically active until his passing. Floyd spent his formative years competing in the sport of rodeo as a calf roper. He also excelled in the team roping and breakaway event. When speaking of ropers and roping, Floyd Many Fingers needs no introductions. His contribution to rodeo in calf roping is known to all. His numerous championships attest to his personal skills and ability and a tribute to his sportsmanship is a willingness to pass along his knowledge to others. His athletic potential, however, wasn’t limited to calf roping. He also excelled in riding race horses and playing semi-pro hockey, as a feared high scoring defenseman. Floyd rodeoed professionally. He won numerous trophies, buckles and saddles. Just to name a few of his many championships he has put under his belt: in 1960 Floyd won the All Indian Rodeo Association five times in a row from 1963-1967 in the Calf Roping event. Floyd won the first United Indian Association Calf Roping in Browning, Montana. In 1977, Floyd won the title of Canadian Champion Team Roping Header. In 1985, he won the Southern Alberta Roping and Riding Club Champion Calf Roper of The Year. In 1989, he was the Champion Calf Roper 60 & Over Category at Kainai Rodeo & Indian Days. In 1997 he was the Champion Breakaway Roper at the Canadian Senior Pro Rodeo Association. Floyd has also held positions as President and a Director in the I.R.C.A. Floyd was also instrumental in forming the I.R.C.A. and in the Canadian Senior Pro Rodeo Association.
A Wake Service will be held at the Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve on Monday, January 5th from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Mary¹s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Tuesday, January 6th at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the Family Cemetery, Blood Reserve.

HELEN URBAN, beloved wife of the late Jim Urban, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, December 31st, 2014 at the age of 101 years. She is the loving mother of Shirley Waldner of Westlock, Vera (Ed) Woodruff of Lethbridge, and Lois (Reuben) Seaman of Lethbridge.
Helen is survived by 18 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 32 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Jim in 1996, two sons Cecil and Alan Urban, brother Howard, sisters Edith, Marie and Dorothy, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen was born September 15, 1913 in Taber, Alberta where she was raised and educated. She met Jim and after a short courtship, got married. They moved to Lethbridge where they have since resided. Helen was a proud homemaker raising her five children. She loved to garden and had a large doll collection and she enjoyed making clothing for them. She enjoyed travelling and camping with her family. Her and Jim loved to dance and socialize, as well as to sing. Helen was so proud to have her whole family at her 100th birthday. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when the flowers are in bloom and the sun is shining.
