JENSEN
BIG SVEND AAGE JENSEN of Magrath, Alberta, passed away suddenly January 20, 2015 at the age of 98. Svend was born in Foldby Aarhus, Denmark March 11, 1916. His parents were Jens Kristjan Jensen and Gjertrud Marie Sejersen, of Denmark. He married Eva Andersen in Aarhus Denmark April 20, 1946. They immigrated to Magrath, Alberta, Canada in August of 1949 where they raised seven children: Paul (Susan) Jensen, Inger (Duane) Schaufert, Leo (Linda) Jensen, Kenneth (Shirley) Jensen, Betty (Gordon) Hirsche, Chris (Linda) Jensen, and Robert Jensen. He is also survived by his son Bent (Bente) Christensen who lives in Denmark. Svend had 23 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Svend was predeceased by his wife Eva Jensen, his parents, sister Edith and brother Vagner. When Svend came to Canada he worked on farms for a few years, until he started working at the window factory then known as Tanco Millwork. He was mostly in charge of setting the machines and keeping them running properly. There he worked until he retired at the age of 67 years. Svend and Eva, along with their youngest son Robert (Bobby), loved to go camping and fishing. They loved spending time in the mountains. Eva passed away in 1995 and then he mostly stayed home. He was known by all in Magrath, and you would see him on his scooter heading to the café for coffee with his friends. Svend was fortunate to live a long healthy life of almost 99 years before he passed away. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, MAGRATH STAKE CENTRE, Magrath, Alberta. Friends may meet the family prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Interment in the Magrath Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SASH, Box 280, Magrath, AB T0K 1J0.

JOHANNA PLAUSTEINER
1926 ~ 2015
Johanna (Stropnik) Plausteiner of Lethbridge, AB, passed away peacefully at St Michael¹s Palliative care on January 15, 2015 at the age of 88. Born June 16, 1926, in Vojnik Slovenija, second oldest of 9 children. She immigrated to Canada 1954 settled in Lethbridge where she resided until her passing. Johanna was predeceased by her husband Johann; her son Allan; grandchildren Dina and Sean Palmer, Jessie Plausteiner; son in law Garrett Palmer; parents Franc and Antonia Stropnik; sisters Fanika, Micika; brothers Tonci, Pepi and Franci. She leaves behind to mourn, her daughters Erika (Gerry) Palmer, Johanna (Peter) Johner; sons Ivan (Stephie) Stropnik, Frank Plausteiner, Joe (Naomi) Plausteiner, Stan (Rhonda) Plausteiner; Grandchildren, Irena, Jason, Jamie, Christine, Lisa, Kyle, Kelly, Kayla, Ryan, Rhonda and Diane; and 12 great grandchildren. In Slovenija sisters, Paula, Hermina and brother Ivan. Mom loved to swim, walk, garden, bake and cook. She was a member of the CWL, and active in the senior¹s community for many years. We will miss her love, strength and courage, but know mom is at peace and in the company of many loved ones. Family wish to extend our heartfelt thank you to staff at Columbia Age Care, St Michaels Palliative care unit and the doctors who looked after our precious mother. Prayers will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 St. S., Lethbridge, AB. Mrs. Helen Roth beloved wife of the late Mr. Tom Roth, passed away at the Bow Island Health Centre, on Monday, January 19, 2015, at the age of 96 years. Helen will be forever remembered in the hearts of her children: Bev (Tony) Hammel, Deanne (Carl) Torgerson, Don, Marilyn (Chris) Schwab and Debbie (Gary) Meger. Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren: Jeff, Pat, Kevin (Candrin) Hammel; Darren, Chrissy (Sean), Daniel (Willow) Torgerson; Jasmine (Carey), Kelsey (Andreas), Jonathan Roth; Jason (Irlanda), Michelle Schwab; Angie (Richard), Ryan Meger as well as her great-grandchildren: Jordan (Tasha), Tyler, Shazia, Kabria, Kaia, Keston, Kolter, Kealey Hammel; Brittany, Jordyn, Greyson, Keegan, Rowan, Ivy Torgerson; Emelio, Ethan Schwab; Declan, Miranda Meger and her great-great-grandson, Sawyer Hammel. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Tom; beloved granddaughter, Rhonda; parents, Philip and Ottilia Gross and her seven siblings. Helen was born on September 28, 1918, in Grassy Lake, AB., where she was raised and educated. She married her loving husband, Tom, on November 23, 1942. In 1961, she started working at the Pleasant View Lodge in Bow Island and continued working there until her retirement at the age of 75 years. Bowling was her passion and continued to be her passion until she was 93. Helen loved to crochet and sew, and could make anything by just looking at a picture. She loved her church and was a devote, lifetime member of the CWL. Helen¹s commitment to her faith and health was combined by praying the rosery while riding her exercise bike for thirty minutes every day. Her joy was her family, her home and her flowers. Helen¹s strength and commitment to life and her fighting spirit gave her the independence to live in her home until she was 95 years old. Helen¹s legacy will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to the Vigil Prayers at St. Michael¹s Catholic Church, 1101 – 1 Street East, Bow Island, AB., on Thursday evening, January 22, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael¹s Catholic Church on Friday, January 23, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Father John L. Maes celebrant. Interment will follow in the Bow Island Cemetery, with a time of fellowship thereafter in the Bow Island Golden Age Club.
