CHIZMAZIA
1916 – 2015
VILMA CHIZMAZIA, beloved wife of the late James Chizmazia, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at her home, with family by her side. Vilma was predeceased by her husband James, infant son Donald, son Ronald, all her brothers (Charlie, Joe, John, Andrew and Julius), and her sisters Beth and Marian. She is survived by her children Beatrice, Eileen, P.J. and Jamie, 10 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins, and her sister-in-law Mary Kaszas. Her good neighbors Matthew and Christine Lui, Harry and Ellen Wong, Ken and Cathy Gejdos and Allan and Justin Jarvie, always helped her. A Celebration of Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vilma’s name to the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, 960 – 19 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 1W5

MRS. MARY FREE of Lethbridge passed away on Tuesday February 17, 2015 at the Edith Cavell Care Centre at the age of 81 years. A family memorial gathering will be held in Manitoba later, in the spring.

Mrs. Hilde Stein of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Mr. George Stein, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the age of 81 years. She is survived by her son Ludwig (Carlinda) Stein, her daughter Brigitte (David Gangur) Wile, her three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. LINNEA (BOWEN) BARNETT
1921 ~ 2015
Mrs. Linnea (Bowen) Barnett of Del Bonita, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the age of 93 years. Linnea was born on June 22, 1921 in Beresford, South Dakota, the oldest daughter of Axel and Helga Johnson. She moved to Canada in 1930 where she lived in Raley, AB until 1932. Her dad then homesteaded in the Ross Lake area and she attended school there until grade 9. In 1943 she married Latham Bowen and in 1951 they moved to the family farm in Del Bonita. She is survived by her five daughters Ann (Lawrence, deceased) Kanig and children Bridgette Donovan, Steven (Celia) Donovan, Derrick (Laurie) Donovan, Drew (Muriel) Donovan, Melinda (Joe) Mastel; Marlene Bowen (Ken) and child Donna (Fenton) Neufeld; Pat (Larry) Wilde and children Ryan (Amy) Wilde, Lamar (Crystal) Wilde, Lindsay (Brian) Prete, Douglas (Kris) Wilde, Duane (Jenna) Wilde; Pam (Ernie) Schellenberg and child Brandi (Harald) Doeving; Carrie (Rod) Wilson; thirty-four great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Latham Bowen, second husband Durward Barnett, brother Roy Johnson; two sisters Madeline Dunlop and Joyce Hoyt. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 St. South, Lethbridge, AB. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our mother and grandmother, Johanna McDonald, in Lethbridge on Monday, February 16, 2015 at the age of 85 years. She will be remembered by her special step grandchildren Scott, Mike and Tyson Lommerts and Layla and Marissa Tedesco. Jo is also survived by her sister Julie Ann (John) Calpas of Lethbridge, sisters-in-laws Dot Hagel and Tilly Hagel of Lancer, Saskatchewan and by numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Jo was predeceased by her husband Ken, brothers Tony Hagel, Simon Hagel and sister Barbara Tumbach and her husband Simon Tumbach. Johanna was born June 26, 1929 to Andrew and Susannah Hagel in Lancer, Saskatchewan. After high school, she studied at the Convent of Sion in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, to become a teacher and moved to Taber to teach school. She met Ken McDonald and fell in love. They married soon after and had eight children, Patti, Jim, Suzanne, Janette, Keith, Paul, Gordon and Kathy. Jo was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to spend time with family and friends and she instilled the importance of family to her children. She was also devoted to the church and served it faithfully, most notably with the Catholic Women’s League and as an organist for St. Augustine¹s parish for more than sixty years. Jo will be remembered for her strong will and soft heart. Her beautiful and gorgeous smile will be missed dearly. Her family takes reassurance knowing that she is reunited with the love of her life and husband, Ken.
