Donna Dorothy Glock 1937 – 2015

Our dear Mother, Donna Dorothy Glock, of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Edith Cavell Care Center on Sunday, March 8th, 2015 at 78 years old. Donna gracefully and courageously dealt with the effects of a stroke for two years and later succumbed to congestive heart failure. Our wonderful Mom was born on June 23rd, 1937 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Her parents were Jack (Goodge) and Dorothy Glock. Donna grew up in a very musical family and won several awards for her singing. She played the piano, bass fiddle and the drums. She often played at dances at the Henderson Lake Dance Hall. As a child and an adult, Donna loved to sew. She became a master quilt maker – designing many of her own applique quilts. Donna would often patiently work on a quilt for fifteen years to give to her children. Donna loved animals and owned several dogs as a child. She would bring home wounded animals and nurse them back to health. At fifteen years old, Donna was crowned Lethbridge’s Teen Queen and her picture was featured in Life Magazine. She loved to hike and would often hike with her family in the coulees and in Waterton. One of the major highlights of her life was a trip to New York with her family. She saw Dave Brubeck perform and loved the many sites. She attended secretarial school and then worked at the Science Survey Lab. During this time she met and married her ex-husband Paul Voykin, in 1957, and moved to Illinois where Paul pursued a career as a golf course superintendent. Donna and Paul had five children, Linda Donna Voykin, Laura Jane Tokgozoglu, Andrea Melanie Patton, Shannon Beth Voykin and Daniel Nicholas Voykin and resided in Lake Bluff, Illinois. Donna had eight lovely grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Jack and Dorothy Glock and her sister Slyvia Glock. Donna was also an expert carpenter, tiler and painter and could make any place look great. In her later years, she loved going to Wendy’s and having a quiet time enjoying her coffee and chicken nuggets. She would often read novels or make lists of things she needed to do that day. Donna was a beautiful woman of strength and courage and had a very close relationship to God. She will always be loved and remembered by everyone who met her. We love you Mom…thank you for all you have given us. A Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 St. S., Lethbridge, AB. MCKENZIE, JEREMY March 28, 1998 – March 17, 2015

Our hearts are broken and it seems as though even the angels are weeping. Jeremy McKenzie, at the tender age of 16, our loving son left us suddenly on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. He will be greatly missed by his sister Jordan, his parents Joan Hollihan and Wade McKenzie, grandmother Molly Hollihan, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents Dale Hollihan, Dale and Irma McKenzie. Jeremy had a one-of-a-kind personality that included a unique sense of humour, a kind and caring heart and a great love for his family and his three dogs (“the girls”). Jeremy really loved his auto body class, and had a passion for vinyl records, photography, glass blowing, baseball and long boarding. He loved to travel with his family and explored China, Hawaii, Greece, Mexico, and many cities across Canada and U.S. These great vacations have given us many special memories we will treasure forever. Please join us for the visitation and viewing on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at LEYDEN’S CHAPEL OF REMEMBRANCE (corner of 17th Avenue & 2nd Street SW, Calgary AB) from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. A Gathering of Jer’s Clan will be held at the same location on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeremy’s name may be made to Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre (AARC), 303 Forge Road SE, Calgary, AB T2H 0S9, http://www.aarc.ab.ca.
