DAVID

DIANNE MUIR DAVID passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, April 5, 2015. She is survived by her three sons and one daughter-in-law, three grandsons, one granddaughter and one great granddaughter. In honor of Dianne, a private family service will be held.


EDWARD JULIEN PAQUIN 1930 -2015

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Ed, beloved husband, father and grandfather. He passed away at home in Coaldale on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the age of 84 years. He was predeceased by son Larry, sisters Jeanette, Jean Rail, Gladys Briand and brother Normand. He is survived by loving wife Vera (Pratt) Paquin, daughters Shelagh and Maureen and grandson Nikolas, sisters Lilian McManus, Marguerite McMillan, Lorraine (Wayne) Punkari, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Ed joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1954 and was stationed in Claresholm where he met and married Vera in 1958. After various postings in Canada and France he retired from the military in 1974 in Comox, BC. He then became an industrial first aid attendant working in logging camps, primarily with Canadian Forest Products until he retired in 1984. Ed and Vera returned to Southern Alberta in 1999, settling first in Nobleford, and Lethbridge before moving to Coaldale in 2013. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. Interment in the Coaldale Cemetery.

GOGO

JOHN ALBERT GOGO passed away peacefully on April 4, 2015, at the age of 83 years, surrounded by his loving family. John was born on February 15, 1932, in Toronto, Ontario, to G. Allan and Mamie Gogo. John joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1949, saw combat in the Korean War and served his country in Germany and Canada. By the time he left the army in 1962, he achieved the rank of sergeant. John was an active member of the Korea War Veterans Association where he was Past-President. Upon retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces, he joined Investors Group. John was active in the community including the Rotary Club and the Canadian Cancer Society. John served as an MLA for Lethbridge West from 1975 – 1993. He was Chairman of AADAC, Deputy Speaker and Deputy Government House Leader and the Minister of Advanced Education. Upon retiring from public life, John created the ‘John Gogo Foundation’ to support numerous community organizations. John was a devoted husband, father, Popa and Great-Popa, and is survived by his wife Joyce, their children, Susan (Tim), Sandra (Doug), Sharon (Bruce), Stephen (Cheryl), Shannon (Ed), grandchildren, Patrick (Lorna) Quinn, Dustin Hegland (Kayla Bablitz), Kadi (Joey) Lavorato, Allison Gillett, Stephany Quinn (Daniel Heimdahl), Haley Hegland (Daniel Labossiere), Tanner (Kalyn) Hegland, Quinn (Michael) Hagel, Joel Gogo, Kenzie (Sean) Dupuis, Brendon Gogo, Daniel (Gabriele) Donkersgoed, Brady Donkersgoed and Hannah Gogo, great-grandchildren, Cole, Dylan, and Reid Lavorato, Riley and Teagen Labossiere, and James Gogo. He is predeceased by his parents, G. Allan and Mamie Gogo, brothers Bobby and Don Gogo, and sisters Bette Campbell and Marilyn Richardson, and is survived by brothers Norman Gogo and Allan Gogo, and sisters Jeanne Allan and Thelma McGillivray who fondly remember him as “Jack”. John is also survived by his sisters-in-law Joan Smith, Fran Senior, Bea Swain and brother-in-law Roy (Louise) Payne. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to staff of The Chinook Regional Hospital and St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre for their excellent care of Dad and our family and friends for their loving support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Salvation Army, the Boys and Girls Club of Lethbridge and Harbour House. A Graveside Service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in the Field of Honour on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 12:30 P.M. GRANT, LOIS (MARY)

GRANT, Lois (Mary) passed away on March 30, 2015 at the age of 78 near Ely, Nevada. She was born in Carman, Manitoba on June 25, 1936 to Clare and Elsie Metcalfe, and was predeceased by her parents and her brother Jack. She is survived by Richard, her husband of 57 years; her daughter Theresa (Bart) LaRiviere of Calgary and their children Sarah, Jeff and Mark; her son John (Catherine) Grant of Calgary and their children William, Joshua and Anna; and her great-granddaughters Olivia and Adina. Mom was a school teacher for over 43 years and taught at several schools in Manitoba, Alberta and BC before retiring and settling first in Lethbridge, then Coalhurst, Alberta. Together she and Dad spent many happy winters in Yuma, Arizona relaxing and enjoying the good life with their many friends and fellow Snowbirds. It was during their trip home from Yuma that Mom quietly, peacefully passed away. We take great comfort in the knowledge that when she left us she was doing what she loved, travelling and spending time with my Dad. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten by her family, and her many friends and neighbours both at home and in the US. In lieu of flowers donations would be gratefully accepted by the Canadian Lung Association.

Ronald William Littlejohns, born in Calgary, Alberta, passed away unexpectedly on March 28th, 2015, in Regina, Saskatchewan, aged 68. After a rewarding career in finance, he expanded his interests in travel, farming, golf, and gardening. Ron’s passion in his later years was cooking, and at the time of his death he was a beloved member of the team at Brewsters Normanview in Regina. He was predeceased by his parents Maurice and Alice (Stead) Littlejohns. Ron is survived by his loving spouse of 23 years Lois (Klassen) Fabians, his son Derek Littlejohns (Kim), daughter Jody Craig (James), adopted son Cory Gledhill, his grandchildren Shawna Dooley (Derek), Mark, Tristan, and Kyra Craig (Jody), his sister Jeanette (Gerald) Rougeau, twin brother Brian (Elsie) Littlejohns, and his family. He is loved, and will be dearly missed. A family memorial will be held at the Garden of Peace Cemetery in Calgary at a later date.

Larry Veres

1951 – 2015

Mr. Larry Veres of Coaldale, beloved husband of Mrs. Elaine Veres (Wilkinson), passed away suddenly on April 5, 2015 at the age of 64 years. Larry was born on February 10, 1951 in Lethbridge, Alberta at the Galt Hospital. He grew up in Coalhurst, living with his family on his grandfather’s farm. During his younger years, Larry was involved with Little League Baseball and Diesel Raiders Broomball. He continued to enjoy sports, playing senior men’s slow pitch. Larry was an active outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, “wannabe farming” and golfing. He was known famously as a “sand bagger”. Larry and Elaine owned Henderson Lake Turbo for many years. Later, they returned to College Ford Lincoln where Larry worked as head mechanic and Fast Lane Manager. After leaving College Ford, Larry used his passion for golf and started working on the maintenance crew at a few different golf courses throughout Southern Alberta. Larry was a loving father, husband and grandfather. He enjoyed watching his grandsons play hockey, baseball and soccer. He shared stories of his upbringing often, Elaine and Larry valued their time spent in Arizona with their friends. Larry led a full and active life and will be missed by his family and all his lifelong friends. Besides his loving wife Elaine Veres, Larry is survived by his two daughters Lenée (David) Fyfe and Rikki-Jo Veres; his son Jay (Lindsey) Veres; grandchildren Kesler & Brenner Fyfe, Chance Veres; his sister Brenda (Lorie) Konsmo; brothers Gerry (Bernadette) Veres and Brian (Sandi) Veres. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Elenor (Stephenson) Veres.
