BYER, Clara Anne
March 30, 1925-April 11, 2015
Clara A. Byer, sadly, passed away on April 11, 2015. She was 90. Clara is survived by her children Jim and Darcy (Don). Very special Granddaughters Nikki (Brian), Brandi (Trent). Extra special “Great” Grandchildren, Lincoln-James, Ty and Keely. Her sister Kaye and several nieces and nephews. Also lovingly remembered by Lincoln. She was predeceased by her loving husband Stanley, her parents, brothers Frank (Maxine), Edward (Frances), George (Joan), Vic, and her sister Rose (Frank). She was also predeceased by her brother-in-law Alex. She was born on March 30, 1925, the oldest daughter of Frank & Angela Cesar, on their homestead southwest of Granum. In November 1947, she married Stanley Byer and moved onto the Byer family farm. Clara loved her home and spent many years actively involved in the community. She moved to the Porcupine Hills Lodge in Claresholm and then on to the WCCCC, where she happily spent her last years. Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma you were loved so much! Wally passed away with family by his side at Surrey Memorial Hospital. He will be dearly missed by his wife Caroline, son Christopher (Yvette, Henny- grandaughter), daughter Jodi (Damon Calderwood, Riley-grandson), sister Anne (Percy) Palmer, brother Wolfgang (Corine) Hild, brother Conrad (Barbara) Hild, sister Carolyn (Rudy) Hahn, many nieces and nephews, and friends. Celebration of his life will be held at Mahoney & Sons,1055 Canada Place, Vancouver, on Saturday April 18th from 2-6pm. If so desired, memorial donations can be made to the BC Cancer Society. A special thanks goes out to the amazing medical teams who cared for him along he way.

Theodora (Dora) Nolan
1923 – 2015
Mrs. Theodora (Dora) Nolan passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 at the age of 91 years.
Dora was born and educated in Lethbridge. After high school she took a commercial course and obtained a job as a secretary- receptionist for the optical firm Wilkins & Nuttall. After a three year courtship, she married Bernard (Bub) Nolan on April 23, 1943 and they raised their family in the Picture Butte area. Dora was very involved in church and leadership in her community. In their earlier years, Dora and Bernard enjoyed dancing, camping, which continued into their retirement years, travelling throughout North America and parts of Europe.
Dora is surived by her daughter Linda (Bill) Moedt of Cleardale, AB; son Larry (Mary Ellen) Nolan of Picture Butte, AB; grandchildren Connie Sobolewski of St. Albert, AB, Rick Moedt of Grand Prairie, AB, Gary (Diane) Moedt of Cleardale, AB, Shawn (Teresa) Nolan of Calgary, AB, Jennifer (Todd) Quinn of Picture Butte, AB, Travis Nolan of Picture Butte, AB; great-grandchildren Ryan and Serena (Connie), Dutch, Camden, Austin and Sydney (Rick), Tian and Caisa (Shawn), Jordan, Tyler, Tanner and Jayden (Jennifer); sister Frieda Allsop of Lethbridge, AB; and sister in law Flossie Erno of Picture Butte, AB.Dora was predeceased by her husband Bernard; her son Lloyd; daughter in law Mary (Larry) Nolan, brothers Bobby, Dick (Pat) Erno, Doug Erno; sisters Lil (Jake) Dunn, Eva (Ed) Miller; and brother in law Al Allsop.Family and friends are invited to pay their final respects between 6:00pm and 8:00pm on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 Street South, Lethbridge.A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, April 17, 2015 at the TRINITY UNITED CHURCH, 528 Maple Crescent, Picture Butte, AB.Flowers are gratefully declined. Jim Pickett
1951 – 2015
After an inspiring fight against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Jim Pickett, age 63, passed away peacefully on the evening of April 10, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Jim was born to Don and Dorothy Pickett on December 11, 1951 in Taber, AB. In 1989, he moved with his wife and children to Kelowna, BC, where he lived until last year. Jim was a caring, intelligent man with an incredible sense of humour. He was a committed father and extremely proud of his daughters Chelsea and Breanna, and son Jadon. He often referred to them as his greatest achievements in life.
Jim is survived by his parents, three children, brother Bill Pickett (Susan), sister Dawna (Pickett) Bilko, nephew Blair Pickett, niece Anali (Dmitri) Reizvikh, and friend and former wife Wendy Miller.
Special thanks to extended family and many caring friends who supported Jim through his battle against cancer over the last year, including: Mike Dunne, Aaron Kolk, the Roelofs family, Dennis Smith and staff and physicians at Jack Addy and Tom Baker Cancer Centres and the Chinook Regional Hospital.
A Memorial Reception will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Lethbridge Lodge HOTEL, 320 Scenic Drive South, Letbridge, AB.

Ida Helen Roberts
1919 – 2015
Mrs. Ida Roberts (Wyman) of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Earle Roberts, passed away peacefully in her home at St. Therese Villa on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the age of 95 years.
Ida was born on May 23, 1919 to Helen at Lloyd Wyman in Brooklyn, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. At the age of 9, Ida became step daughter to Marion Wyman. She completed her schooling in Yarmouth and then finished Teacher Training at Normal School in Wolfville, NS. At the age of 18 she began teaching in a one room county school in Glenwood. She married Earle Roberts on October 19, 1945. After WWII Earle reenlisted in the Air Force and Ida continued teaching while they travelled. Upon their retirement in 1982 they resided in Lethbridge.
Ida is survived by her daughter Glenda (Len) Shapka; son Earle (Nancy) Roberts; grandchildren Jennifer, Sam, Jonathan and Amber; 5 great-grandchildren; brother Fred Wyman of Quebec; and sister Laura Jeffrey of Digby, NS; sister in law Dorine Roberts of Lethbridge; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
The family wish to give special thanks to the staff at St. Therese Villa in Lethbridge who gently cared and nurtured our mother for her 5 year residence there.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday April 16, 2015 at the MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, with Dr. Bill Calderwood, officiating. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.

NUNHAM GLENN STANFORD, Jr. of Stirling, AB, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 53 years, Katherine Harker Stanford, and his six children: Curtis (Kara) Stanford of Didsbury, Gordon (Naomi) Stanford of Lacombe, Robert Stanford of Lethbridge, Sheri (John) Evans of Magrath, Christopher (Rochelle) Stanford of Lethbridge, and Kendrick (Diane) Stanford of Calgary. He is also survived by his siblings: Gary Stanford of Salt Lake City, Walter Stanford of Calgary, and Marianne Flanagan of Calgary. He is predeceased by his brother, Leland Stanford of Spring Coulee and his grandson, Andrew Stanford. Family was important to Nunham, and he leaves behind a proud progeny of 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter whom he adored. He was an avid family historian and the influence from his dedication and countless hours of genealogical work will be appreciated and felt by many generations for years to come. Nunham was a school teacher for 35 years. He loved teaching so much, he often taught summer school and evening classes. He also continued to tutor children long after his retirement. In his later years, Nunham made it a practice to check the obituaries first thing every day only to exclaim to Katherine, “Well, I’m not in them again today, Mother.†You’re in them today, Dad. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, STIRLING CHAPEL. Friends may meet the family prior to the service from noon to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Interment to follow in the Stirling Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Box 2211, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4K7.
