BREEN, JOHN WILLIAM
John “Jack” William Breen died May 7, 2015 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital in his 79th year. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, sons and daughter-in-law Gregory, Michael and Adrienne, and much-loved grandchildren Lucas and Emily. He also leaves his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Arthur and Mary Gail Wood of Calgary. John was predeceased by his infant daughter Shelley Anne, parents Jean and Howard Breen of Lethbridge, brother and sister-in-law Jim and Caleen Breen of Richmond, BC and sister Anne Krier of Delaware.
Cremation has taken place. No service by request.

Mr. Gordon Simmons of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Henrica Simmons, passed away on May 10, 2015 at the age of 90 years.

Gertrude Talbot
1927 – 2015
Mrs. Gertrude (Gert) Myrtle Talbot, beloved wife of the late Mr. Les Talbot, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2015 at the age of 88 years.
Gert was born on January 18, 1927, the second child of Henry (known as Harry) Teare and Alice (Reeves) of Lacombe, AB; sister to Jessie Joy Lund and Frederick Wilson Teare.
Gert grew up in Lacombe and graduated from Lacombe Nelson High school. While attending high school she worked as an AGT operator and met her husband- to-be, Les. On August 19, 1946 she married George Leslie Talbot of Lacombe, AB. They moved to Calgary where Gert worked for the Palliser Hotel as a switch board operator. Next came Edmonton for one year while Les finished his Bachelor of Industrial Arts. In 1949 they went east to Montreal where Les started his first job and they started their family; all daughters – Elizabeth Louise born August 4, 1955 (deceased August 16, 1958), Deborah Ann born July 8, 1957, Barbara Lynn born November 26, 1959 and Mary Patricia born October 8, 1963. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1965 where the girls grew up and Gert became a realtor. Gert and Les moved to live and work in Lethbridge in 1979.
As well as being a beloved mother, she volunteered with various events for people with disabilities, including taking 16 teenagers in wheelchairs to Expo67 in Montreal from Winnipeg. Her passion was doing crafts from sewing to decorating elaborate bridal shower cakes. Gert faced a number of health challenges, including cancer in her early 50’s and a heart attack in her 80’s. She credited her strong faith in God for getting her through some difficult times as well as providing the wonderful times in her life.
Gert joins her husband Les, daughter Betty, parents and brother Fred, who predeceased her. She will be remembered and missed by daughters Deb Caughlin (Kevin), Barbara Martin (John) and Mary Elliott (Mel), grandchildren Tara, Tyler, Wyatt and Allan, sister Jessie Lund and many relatives, friends and neighbours.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 – 15th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB.

Miro Tomasta
1932 – 2015
Miro Tomasta of Readymade passed away peacefully on May 14, 2015 at the age of 82. He was born, raised and educated in Readymade.
Miro’s occupation was farming in which his talents for repairing and remodeling equipment always seemed to suit his needs. He enjoyed sports (basketball, curling & golfing), a love for reading, had a green thumb and a soft spot for animals. He always loved the company of his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Miro was a county councilor for the county of Lethbridge from 1964-1980.
Miro is survived by his loving wife Lydia; 5 daughters Diane (Tom) Slywka, Nancy (Doug Winter), Melenie (Sid) de Graaf, Lorraine and Antonette; 4 sons Bob (Kathy) Tomasta, Ron (Marilyn) Tomasta, Rick and Gary (Lana) Tomasta; 24 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and sister Pat Cajka.
Miro was predeceased by his daughter Karen, parents Joseph and Teresa Tomasta, sister Maria (Joe) Vopicka and brother-in-law Joe Cajka.
Vigil Rights (Prayers) will be held at 7:00 pm, on Monday, May 18, 2015, at Martin Brothers Riverview Chapel, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at ST. AMBROSE CHURCH, 1513-23 Ave Coaldale, with Father Newton Rodrigues celebrant.
