She dreamed of being a school teacher but became an excellent teacher, mother & friend to us all. As a young teenager, she worked at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton and a waitress to a few of Lethbridge’s downtown restaurants. She married at the age of 17 and raised her 6 children as a single mother. She loved & cherished her family & grandchildren. She was very supportive & proud of their accomplishments. Later she married Robert for 38 years. She was a devoted wife & partner helping establish their excavating company. She attended the Lethbridge Community College to obtain a diploma in accounting. She was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She loved watching the rodeo, especially bull riding, many sports and playing bingo. She was the crib champion of the family and still holds the trophy to this day. Mary cherished her garden with the abundance of vegetables for everyone (known as the families “Farmers Market”). All the family functions/holidays were at her house with lots of excellent Ukrainian food. It truly was a time of many laughs & happy memories shared amongst the family. She will be remembered as being generous, kind, caring to everyone she met and knew. She will be deeply missed.

WALL

1954 – 2015

DOUGLAS L. WALL, 60 years old, passed away after a short bout with cancer on August 8, 2015 at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. He is the beloved son of Mel and Lola Wall.

Doug was born in Taber, and lived there until he was 13, then the family moved to Lethbridge. He spent his life doing what made him happy, helping other people. His family would often find out about his anonymous deeds later on from strangers, neighbours or relatives.

He had many jobs, but most of the time he was a Chef, and continued to love to cook for others from his home. Though he seemed crusty on the outside, he was very sensitive and felt others’ pain strongly. He lived a good moral life and disliked hypocrites. He believed in God and knew where he would be going. He loved nature more than anything. He spent 11 years taking pictures of medicinal plants throughout 3 provinces, to put into his encyclopedia of natural remedies. He also collected unique rocks.

He will be greatly missed by his mother, Lola and siblings, Linda Harvey in Calgary, Don Wall (Huguette) in Vancouver and Sheila Wall in Lethbridge. He was predeceased by his father, Mel.

Doug requested that there be no funeral.
