EVA DAHL (SMITH) ANDERSON, beloved mother of Roger, Brian, Greg, and Gerald Smith, passed away at the Good Samaritan’s Society in Raymond on Monday, September 7, 2015 at the age of 79 years. Friends may meet the family at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm and again Saturday morning from 10:00 – 10:45 am at the church. A Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Raymond Stake Centre, on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in Temple Hill Cemetery.

TETJE “TERESA” de GRAAF, beloved wife of Pieter de Graaf, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the age of 90 years.

Besides her loving husband, she is survived by: Hennie (Bill), Dirk (Phyllis), Jetty (Marinus), Janet (Jim), Pearl (Paul – deceased), Sid (Anita), John (Deb), and Ivan, 25 loving grandchildren and 23 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Shirley and Alice Vander Ploeg as well as a number of Pieter’s siblings in Holland, Edmonton, and Washington State, USA. She was predeceased by her parents Siebren and Hendrikje Vander Ploeg, brothers Jan and Harry Vander Ploeg, sister/brother-in-law Joan and Ben Bouwman, son-in-law Paul Black, missing daughter Donna, and a number of Pieter’s family members.

Teresa was born on May 12, 1925 in St. Anna Parochie FR, The Netherlands. She immigrated with her husband, Pieter, her parents and her 3 siblings in July 1951 to the Vauxhall area. They raised their 9 children there and moved to Lethbridge in April 1989. She was committed to raising her children in a loving, Godly environment and worked tirelessly at providing for her children in the home. Her children and their families were a source of great joy to her and she looked forward to all their visits. Pieter and Teresa were able to celebrate 64 years of marriage on May 10th, 2015 and enjoyed living in the Gardenview Lodge and most recently at Legacy Lodge. She was thankful for all the friendships and care provided to her over the last four years.

A Private Family Interment will take place prior to the Memorial Service. The Memorial Service will take place at TRINITY UNITED REFORMED CHURCH – 1100 – 40 Avenue North., Lethbridge, Alberta on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Wybren Oord officiating.

Henry Peter Dueck

1929 – 2015

Henry Peter Dueck passed away suddenly into the presence of the Lord at his home on Saturday September 5, 2015.

Henry was born on April 12, 1929 in Coaldale, Alberta. He married Maria (Mary) Janzen on August 26, 1952 at Coaldale, Alberta. Henry loved farming which he did until retirement but also worked at the Research Station for 16 years.

Henry is survived by his wife Mary, and his children: Arleen (Ron) Warkentin, Weldon (Pauline), Randy (Kathy), as well as five grandsons: Keith (Kerri) and Glen (Julie) Warkentin, Stephen (Rebecca), Colin and Joel Dueck, six great- grandchildren, and brothers Peter (Mary), and John (Debra) Dueck, and sister Susie Unger.

His love for the Lord was demonstrated in his prayers for and service to people and his love for family. He enjoyed music and loved singing in Vox Musica, choirs and quartets. Henry and Mary loved to go camping and traveling. His passion was restoring old vehicles and equipment to their original glory. Henry was also a volunteer with organizations such as The Alberta Vegetable Grower’s Marketing Board, The Gleaners and The Gideons.

Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Friday September 11th, 2015, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4th Street S., Lethbridge, Alberta.

On September 12, 2015 a committal service will be held at the Coaldale Cemetery at 10:00am, with the Memorial Service to follow at Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church, 2114 – 18th Street, Coaldale, Alberta at 11:00am.

ELMER E KOBE

Feb 3, 1942 – August 10, 2015

Husband to Nicole Lauren, Father of (Rochelle, Jonathan, Emmanuel), Son of Adam & Dorothy (Koenig), Brother to Ron (Marylyn), Allan (Betty) (Predeceased: Dale), Numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

Elmer worked in senior finance for horse racing in Alberta for over 40 years; Stampede Park Race Office (Book Keeper), Alberta Race Corp (Controller), Rocky Mountain Turf Club (CFO 1998).

Elmer retired to Haiti 2007 where he and his wife worked side by side building their home. The two of them opened a school out of their home to educate the children of their community. They were also active in the placement of children in foster care or reuniting the children with their families after the devastation in Haiti 2010

At the time of his passing, Elmer had by his side his loving wife and soul mate Nicole.

Beth Hummel, beloved wife of the late Robert Hummel, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Milk River Long Term Care at the age of 94 years.

MANY SHOTS

ALBERT “TOMMY” LOUIS MANY SHOTS/WOLF CHILD, of the Blood Reserve, AB, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the age of 50 years.

Tommy was born on the Blood reserve on June 22, 1965 to the late Louis Many Shots and Rita (Wolf Child) Many Shots. He was raised on the Blood Reserve by his late grandparents, Albert and Cecile Wolf Child.

He will be sadly missed by his sons, Delray (Melissa) Cross Child, Wade Cross Child, Sterlyn Many Shots and Wybie Many Shots, his only daughter, Kealy (Tyler) Many Shots, one grandson DJ Cross Child, one granddaughter Keanna Cross Child and one on the way, and step sons Tyson (Jenna) Cross Child and Wolf (Angelika) Cross Child.

A Family Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta, on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 4:00 P.M. followed by a Wake Service at SENATOR GLADSTONE HALL, Blood Reserve, Alberta, beginning at 5:00 P.M. and continuing all night.

JASON TYLER RED CROW, of the Blood Reserve, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, September 7, 2015 at the age of 33 years.

Shigeharu “Dick” Sawa

1940 – 2015

Shigeharu “Dick” Sawa of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Carol Sawa, passed away on September 5, 2015 at the age of 75 years.

Dick was born on June 9, 1940 in Stave Falls, BC to a family of thirteen. He married Carol Friesen on March 5, 1966, to whom he was happily married to for 49 years.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and especially cooking. He was well known for his ginger beef. Dick was a self-taught “jack of all trades”, which included renovating homes, plumbing, electrical work, drywall and outdoor landscaping.

Dick is survived by his daughter Susan (Clifford Greg Helm); sons Dean Sawa and Glen (Tammy) Sawa; grandchildren Marie and Amber Walsh and Shaelee and Shelby Sawa; siblings Lois (Yosh) Hattori, Diana (Isao) Nakamura, Sharon (Tom) Takahashi, Roy (Jackie) Sawa, Larry Sawa, Patricia (Doug) Smith, Harry Sawa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Besides his loving wife Carol, he was predeceased by his parents Usaburo and Chizuko Sawa; brother Daniel Sawa; and sisters May Boessenkool and June Kanomata.

Dick will always be remembered for his kind smile, good sense of humour, and his strong work ethic. He was always willing to help and be counted on to drop everything in a moments notice. He loved his family and cherished his granddaughters. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Coaldale Cemetery – Mennonite Section.

A Celebration of Dick’s Life will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, September 11, 2015 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 St. S., Lethbridge, AB.
