She immigrated to Austria with her husband Louis Bardics in 1956, in 1957 they left Austria seeking a new life in Canada. They first lived in Iron Springs, Alberta and slowly made their way to Lethbridge where they finally settled and called home until the Lord called them home.

With her husband Louis they raised 5 children, Maria Hopman (Steve), Steve Bardics, Bernadette Bardics, Rosemary Ostrow and Lou Bardics Jr. Three grandchildren, Trish Hopman, Kevin Bardics, and Tanya Hopman, one great grandchild KC Hopman Williams. Maria’s leaving will leave a hole in the hearts of her family and the many other relatives she has in Hungary and of course her best friend Helen Horvath. Of course there are many more to mention but the list of people she touched in 87 years is a long one.
Stay at home mom was not for Maria, she enjoyed many years of employment working at the El Rancho helping cook many fabulous meals. Later Maria and Louis ventured out and started their own little cleaning business.
In her spare time Maria enjoyed needle point. She made many for her friends and many that won awards at exhibitions. She kept up her needle point until the dreadful Alzheimers took over.
