It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andre Joseph Labbe.
Andre’s tough, courageous battle with esophageal cancer ended the night of Jan. 1, 2016, while he was surrounded by family, at the Pincher Creek Hospital at the age of 59 years old.
He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer on February 4, 2015 and was fighting a hard battle all the way to the end.
Born on Aug. 15, 1956 in Sainte-Praxede, Quebec, Andre moved to the Cowley, Alberta area in 1972 where he met his beloved wife Nancy Labbe and they were married July 19, 1986.
They graced the world with three beautiful children: Scott, Christopher and Stephanie. Their children have all married and have thus far graced Andre and Nancy with two beautiful grandchildren, with one grandchild on the way.
Scott married Candace in September 2013 and they have two children, Jared and Maxie-Rae. Christopher married Zabrina in August 2014 and they’re expecting their first child in March 2016. Stephanie married Shaun in October 2015.
Along with his children and wife, Andre is survived by his three sisters; Carmen (Dino), Helene (Irenee) and Sylvie (Daniel); his mom Rejeanne; his mother-in-law Shirley, and father-in-law George. He’s also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and extended family.
Andre is pre-deceased by his dad Albert.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 at the Snodgrass Funeral Home (1101 Main Street, Pincher Creek, Alberta) with Doug Rawling officiating.

JACK BLACK FOREHEAD passed away in Fort Macleod, Alberta on January 9th, 2016 at the age of 94 years.
A Wake Service will be at the Old Saipoyi Gym, Stand Off on Friday, Jan. 15th from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., continuing all night at Jack’s residence. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Saturday, Jan. 16th at 11:00 a.m. Interment in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

Don Brownell
1935 – 2016
Don Morris Brownell, beloved husband of Doreen Brownell, passed away in Taber on Monday, January 11, 2016 at the age of 80 years.

Besides his loving wife Doreen, he is survived by is children Debbie (Jack) French of Taber and children Trevor (Karen) French, Chris (Rianna) French and Amber (Shane) Miller; Kevin (Lorena) Brownell of Delisle, Saskatchewan and son Cole; Donna (Barry) Vandenameele of Delisle, Saskatchewan; son-in-law Larry Hiebert of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and children Rachelle (Ryan) Melquist and Matthew (Karalee) Hiebert; great grandchildren Donavan, Landon, Kyrsten, Tristan, Parker, Nixen, Madix, Sean, Ellyson, Alyanna and Nevaeh. He is also survived by his sister June McCurdy and sister-in-law Hazell (Charlie) Baskett.
He was predeceased by his daughter Barb Hiebert and brother-in-law Jim McCurdy.
Don was born August 27, 1935 in Delisle, Saskatchewan to Ambrose and Georgina Brownell. He grew up on the family farm, farming with his father until 1955. At that time he married the love of his life Doreen Rolph. Together they raised their four children Debbie, Barb, Kevin and Donna. They continued to farm until 2005 when they retired from the farm and moved to Taber. Don did not totally retire as he began working at Paradee Pontiac Buick in sales to occupy his time. Over the years Don loved the game of curling. He won the National Schoolboy Curling Championship in 1954 and was inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 1998. In later years he would spend some time on the golf course, enjoying many rounds with Jack Peard. Don also enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren in many activities. A special day was driving his 1958 Buick over for his first great grandsons graduation and handing the keys over to him to go for a spin. His most recent highlight was celebrating his sixtieth wedding anniversary in October 2015. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

Shirley Chalifoux of Raymond passed away at the Raymond Health Centre on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the age of 64 years.

EDWARDS
ELDON RUSSELL EDWARDS, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at Edith Cavell Care Centre on January 10th, 2016 at the age of 93. Eldon was born on May 16th, 1922 in Taber Alberta to Charles and Sally Edwards. After graduating high school in Taber, Eldon joined the RCAF and trained as a pilot. He spent most of his time during the war flying for the Navigation School in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. Throughout his life, he enjoyed telling his children and grandchildren about his adventures in the Air Forces. Eldon married Mary Gibb of Magrath, Alberta on September 11, 1946 in the Cardston Alberta temple. They resided in Edmonton while Eldon finished his degree in Agriculture at the University of Alberta and then moved to Coaldale in 1949 where he worked as a fieldman for the Canadian Sugar Company. The family moved to Lethbridge in 1963, and in 1967 Eldon joined the Alberta Government in the department of Energy & Natural Resources -Public Lands where he managed the government operated grazing reserves in Southern Alberta. In 1981, Eldon was promoted to Director of Program Support in the Public Lands Division and relocated to Edmonton. He retired and moved back to Lethbridge in 1987. Eldon was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and enjoyed his many callings in the church. Both Eldon and Mary served a mission in the Atlanta Georgia Temple in 1988-89. Eldon and Mary loved their family and spent much of their retirement traveling Canada and the United States visiting family and attending important events in their children’s and grandchildren’s lives. I can’t think of many baptisms, graduations or weddings they missed. Eldon was predeceased by his wife Mary Gibb Edwards, parents Charles and Sally Edwards, and sisters Rachel Anderson, Maydell Anderson and Ruth Nadine Edwards. He is survived by his sister Donna Valgardson, his children Sally (Steven) Bird of Plainview Texas, Russell (Rhonda) Edwards of Lethbridge, Sylvia (Gary) Nakamura of Calgary, Michele (Blair) Nielsen of Mesa Arizona, 16 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. Friends may meet the family on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the LDS – Lethbridge Stake Centre. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LETHBRIDGE STAKE CENTRE, 2410-28 Street South, Lethbridge.

Shamus Dilworth Rainford, beloved son of Mathew Rainford and Denice Rainford passed away suddenly on January 4, 2016 at the age of 25 years.
Besides his loving parents Mathew (Joanne Wells) Rainford and Denice Rainford, Shamus will be lovingly remembered by his sister Megan (Nicolas Durand), brother Gabriel (Kara Popson), grandparents Carol and Harvey Van Gilder, Aunts and Uncles; Jackie Wiens, Terry (Ron Sutter) Wittkopf, Walter (Tammey) Van Gilder, Collette Van Gilder, Ilo (Jamie Clipsham) Van Gilder, numerous cousins, church family members and friends. Shamus was predeceased by his grandparents Emily and James Rainford and Uncle Ken Wiens.

SCHNURR: Edward Emil. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Edward Emil Schnurr (Ed) on January 8, 2016, in Kelowna BC. Ed was born on April 4, 1935 in Allan Saskatchewan to Joseph and Barbara Schnurr. Having been raised on his parents farm, with his brothers and sisters, Ed moved to Kelowna BC where he met his wife of 56 years, Janet Fanny Maria Schnurr. Together, they are survived by their children Pat Mackinnon (Jim), Nancy Wing (Dave), Sandy Schnurr (Sherry) and Rob Schnurr (Peggy) as well as their grandchildren, Scott, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Jamie, Jason and Sydney. Ed is survived by his loving sisters and brothers, Helen, Agnes, Julie, Marie, Doreen, Tony, Andy, Wally and Frank. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Barbara, his wife Janet, grandson Shane, his brothers Joe, John and Jake and his sister Kay. Having moved back to Kelowna BC from Coaldale Alberta, he was able to enjoy his last days with his family by his side.
