BOYD
Sylvia Margaret Boyd of Lomond, beloved wife of Harvey Boyd, passed away in Brooks on Saturday March 26th, 2016 at the age of 73 years. Sylvia was born on January 25th, 1943 in Calgary and raised at Shouldice, Alberta. She was a registered nurse, farmer, daughter, mother and, most importantly, a loving wife. Sylvia married Harvey Lloyd Boyd of Lomond in 1964, and they raised their family of 4 boys on the farm in the Lomond area. She was active in the community and well loved by many. Sylvia was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in December, 1992 and it ultimately led to her passing, after many hard fought years. She is predeceased by her parents Christopher and Evelyn Reed. Sylvia is survived by her loving husband, Harvey Boyd of 51 years; sons, Jim Boyd and his wife Kelly of Arrowwood, Alberta, Roy (Catherine) Boyd of Lomond, Dennis Boyd and his wife Dena of Brooks and Dale of Lethbridge; 6 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; 1 great granddaughter; brother Art Reed and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2nd at 2:00 PM from Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. John Theiss officiating. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery. It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of MARY ANN FOX (nee Yellowhorse), beloved wife of Richard (Joe) A. Fox Jr. Mary Ann returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father at the age of 59 on March 28th, 2016.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 38 years, Richard; their children, Jana (David), Kansie, Amanda, Travis, Tamara, Riley; their five grandchildren, Kasmira, Elijah, Monroe, Cohen, and Winter. Mary Ann is also survived by her parents, Hubert and Myrtle Yellowhorse; her siblings, Susie, Evelyn, Russell, Roland, and Rupert; her beloved cousin, Rena (Gary) Dunn; and many numerous cousins and extended family.
Mary Ann was born in Tuba City, Arizona and raised as the eldest of six children on the Navajo Reservation near the Grand Canyon. Mary Ann met her husband while attending Brigham Young University. They married in the Cardston Temple on May 5th, 1978. Richard and Mary Ann built their home and raised their family in the Bullhorn Coulee on the Blood Reserve.
Mary Ann was a devoted mother and wife, always going above and beyond in nurturing and providing for her husband, children and grandchildren. She will always remain as a foundation for integrity and strong spiritual beliefs to her husband and family.
Mary Ann enjoyed participating in numerous events and gatherings with her family. She was revered for her delicious traditional Navajo frybread amongst her family, friends and at many events.
Mary Ann often looked forward to visiting her parents, siblings and relatives in Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. She loved to travel with her family to numerous locations such as California, Florida, Mexico and Hawaii.
Mary Ann served faithfully in several positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was active in several church wards during her lifetime including Glenwood, Cardston Kainai Branch, and Lethbridge. Mary Ann is cherished by all her loved ones and will be greatly missed.
A Wake Service will be held at the Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Thursday, March 31st from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, CARDSTON ALBERTA STAKE CENTER (EAST HILL), Cardston on Friday, April 1st at 11:00 a.m. Friends and relatives may meet the family at the Church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the Service. Interment to follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Josephine Kondas of Lethbridge, passed away at the Park Meadows Lodge on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the age of 80 years old.
Josephine was born in Enchant, Alberta to Samuel & Mary Virostek. She was raised in the Enchant Area, then moved to Lethbridge to work and married Steve Kondas on April 27, 1957. They resided in Lethbridge briefly before settling down to raise their children in Coaldale, AB.
She is survived by her children Steven (Dorine) Kondas of Stettler, AB, Terry (Linda) Kondas of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Sharlene Kondas of Lethbridge, AB, Gregory (Karin) Kondas of Victoria, BC; grandchildren Ashley (Alaa) Abdel Khaliq of Lethbridge, AB, Adam Payne of Pincher Creek, AB, Kassandra Kondas of Victoria, BC, Janine Kondas of Victoria, BC, Hannah Kondas of Stettler, AB, Carrie Creaser of Edmonton, AB; great-grandchildren Cindy and Emma Abdel Khaliq of Lethbridge, AB; brothers Donald (Donna) Virostek of Lethbridge, AB, Wayne (Joan) Virostek of Warner, AB; sisters-in-law Shirley (George) Virostek of Enchant, AB, Diane Virostek of Lethbridge, AB, Linda Virostek of Enchant, AB, Margaret Kondas of Barnwell, AB; brother-in-law Larry Haller of Enchant, AB.

Garry “Wire” Wyrostok
1948 – 2016
Garry Michael Wyrostok of Lethbridge, Alberta, beloved husband of the late Margaret Wyrostok, passed away suddenly on March 27th, 2016 at the age of 68 years. Garry was born in Shaughnessy, Alberta in 1948 to George and Margaret Wyrostok. Garry graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1966. He began working at Canadian Western Natural Gas (now Atco Gas) in the early 1970s, and retired in 2013. In his youth, Garry played many sports, excelling at hockey and fastball. He later developed a passion for the game of golf, and the golf course became his second home. Garry also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, frequently hosting them at backyard bonfires, and had recently begun pursuing photography as a hobby. Garry was known for his sense of humour and quick wit, and always seemed to have a joke ready to tell. He is survived by his daughter Amber, son James (Natalie), grandson Alexander; brothers Glenn (Wendy) Wyrostok and Geoff Wyrostok; Uncle Lino Chiste; Aunt Lillian (“Babeâ€) Soice; sisters-in-law Vi Roth, Anna Wutzke, Verna Roth, Roberta Roth, Eleanor (Terry) Collins, and Kathy (Ed) Carpenter; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families. In addition to his loving wife Margaret, Garry was predeceased by his parents, George Wyrostok and Margaret Wyrostok; parents-in-law, George and Agnes Roth; sister, Linda Westling; Uncle Peter Lazaruk; Aunt Irene (“Tootsieâ€) Chiste; brothers-in-law George Roth, Jim Wutzke, Robert Roth, and Lester Roth; and niece Cheryl Delinte. ZABACK (BROWER), Betty
Betty (Cecil Elizabeth) Brower Zaback died peacefully from old age on Easter Sunday, March 27th, in Lakeview Lodge Nursing Home, West Kelowna, BC at the age of 98 after living a very healthy and long life. Betty (nee Johnson) was born in Waterloo, Iowa and moved with her family to Stirling, AB as a young child. She went to school in Maybutt and later went to Normal school in Calgary. Her first teaching job was at the 1-4 Research Station at Manyberries, AB where she met Bud Brower. Shortly after they married in July, 1941, they moved to Pincher Creek, AB. Bud and Betty had 5 children. Mary died in infancy. Bud passed away in 1975. Mom is survived by Peggy Van Tol in Lethbridge, Royce (Jeff) Higa in Kelowna, BC., Dick (Shirley) Brower in Lethbridge and Judy (Charlie) Martin in Drayton Valley. Betty is survived by grandchildren Dallas (Bill) Van Tol, Gary (Chrissy) Van Tol, Sharon (Troy) Anderson, Barb McKinnon, Tracy Martin, Bryan (Roxanne) Martin, Darcie (Mike) Young and Lana (Greg) Handsaeme as well as 15 great grandchildren. Betty is also survived by a large number of nieces and nephews and their families. Mom was very active in the Order of Eastern Star, Castleview Chapter # 21, in Pincher Creek. She was honoured as a life member in March of 2016. She was also a devout member of the United Church in Pincher Creek. Betty married Ed Zaback in Calgary in 1988. Soon after, they moved to Westbank, BC. They enjoyed the warm Okanagan weather and spent the winters in Yuma, AZ. After Ed’s passing in 1998, mom moved into Fernbrae Manor Retirement Home in Kelowna. She recently became a resident at Lakeview Lodge Nursing Home. Betty is also survived by Ed’s children: Jim (Pat) Zaback Judith Churchill, Janice (Henry) Hay, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren all residing in Calgary. At mom’s request, there will be no funeral. Final resting will take place in Pincher Creek during the summer. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation to a charity of your own choice. Elizabeth Zbrodoff
1948 – 2016
MRS. ELIZABETH ZBRODOFF, beloved wife of the late George Zbrodoff, passed away in Lethbridge on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016, at the age of 90 years. Elizabeth was born in the village of Tilipenki, near the city of Vinnytsa, Ukraine on May 2, 1925. At the end of World War II, she met George Zbrodoff in Germany and they married in 1945. In 1949, they immigrated to Canada with their 3 yearold son, Nicolaus and settled in southern Alberta. They had a daughter, Jane, in 1950, created a home base in Lethbridge and rounded out their family with daughter, Betty, in 1962. Elizabeth spent her entire life taking care of her family and aiding her husband while he ran and operated his construction business. Her sole purpose in life was to provide her children with the life and opportunities that had been denied to her in her youth. She was a dedicated wife, mother and “Babaâ€. Elizabeth is survived by her daughters Jane Zbrodoff (Gordon Logan) of Nashville, Tennessee and Betty Zbrodoff (Don Shackleford) of Lethbridge; and daughter-in-law Adele Zbrodoff of Lethbridge. She was “Baba†to Tracy Zbrodoff (Kam Bullock) of Lethbridge, Scott Zbrodoff of Calgary, John Logan (Sara Stone) of Urbana, IL Bradley Shackleford of Lethbridge and Derek Shackleford (Meipsy) of Ft. McMurray. She was “Great Baba†to Brittany Wichers, Kylie Bullock, Cameron Shackleford and Freya Shackleford. Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents Josif and Anastazyja Maskolenko, her sister Anna, her dearest son Nick Zbrodoff and her treasured granddaughter Cassandra Shackleford.
