Louise Marie Carson

1941 – 2016

Ms. Louise Carson of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2016 surrounded by her family at St. Michaels Palliative Care Centre, at the age of 74 years, one day before her 75th birthday.

Louise was born on May 1, 1941 in Gleician, Alberta.

Louise worked for many years as a book keeper and she had a passion for singing and playing country music, especially with her best friend Al.

Louise is survived by her son Darcy (Laurie) Ladouceur; daughters Dawn Davis, Cheri (Dave) Ladouceur, Denise (Rob) Barnes, Dale (Jim) Ladouceur; 10 grandchildren Wade (Aley), Lisa (Benji), Dorie, Gradey, Levi, Justin, Hunter, Deklyn, Miranda, and Jasmin; and 7 great- grandchildren Kailie, Wednesday, Maverick, Hazel, Jayden, Tyler, and Ally.

Louise was predeceased by her parents Olga and Clarence Woods; brother Kenny; and sisters Leone and Clare.

As per Louise’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.

MURRAY GODFREY

HEAVY SHIELDS

1961 – 2016

With great sadness we announce the passing of Murray Godfrey Heavy Shields on April 26, 2016 in Calgary, Alberta. Murray was born on August 23, 1961 in Bassano, Alberta to Ed and Marion Heavy Shields. He is survived by his children: Joni (Shane), Marty (Tish), Fawn (Chad) and Sable; his grandchildren: Halle Lucille, Briere Dayne, Christian Kennedy, Nixon Teddy and Dallas Steven; his father Ed Heavy Shields; brothers: Les (Emily), Rudy, Kenny and Paul; sisters: Darlene (Jim) and Twylla (Lance).

He was predeceased by his mother Marion Heavy Shields; sister Gina Heavy Shields/Weasel Head; grandparents Frank & Beatrice Good Striker and Eddie & Adelaide Heavy Shields.

Murray’s love for his family was very strong and showed in the relationships he had with his loved ones – including his brothers, sisters and cousins. He especially had a big heart for his children and grandchildren.

Murray graduated from Cardston High School in 1979. Throughout his life, he attended numerous educational facilities including SAIT, Mount Royal College, University of Lethbridge and Police College in Edmonton, Alberta. Although his studies brought him various types of jobs, his main goal and passion was in obtaining his 3rd level Power Engineering Certificate. Murray was residing in Calgary at the time of his passing. After spending most of his life on the Blood Reserve, Murray decided to relocate to the city, where there were more opportunities, resources and support.

Murray had a deep passion for sports – mainly hockey and rodeo. He played minor hockey on the Blood Reserve and in his later years, played with the Kainai Chiefs, Mount Royal Cougars, and with the Lethbridge Native Sons. He also helped coach and train the Kainai Golden Chiefs’ Hockey Club. Murray’s passion for rodeo took him many places, travelling throughout Alberta and the United States.

Murray was known for his proud and reserved nature. He was a hard worker and always gave 100% in everything he put his mind to. He valued friendship and had many friends from all walks of life. He was also known for his practical jokes – he always knew how to leave you with a smiles or a good laugh.

A Wake Service will be held at the Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve on Sunday, May 1st from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Monday, May 2nd at 11:00 a.m. Interment in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

HEIBERG

KEITH ERWIN HEIBERG, of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away at Redwater, Alberta at the age of 25.

Keith was predeceased by his grandparents Ross and Vilda Barker. He is survived by his parents Sandra Anderson of Lethbridge, Alberta and Mark Anderson of Barons, Alberta. Keith was also survived by his long time girlfriend Kayla Hennessy, his sisters, Stephanie (Trevin) Coombs of Edmonton, Alberta; Karen Main of High River, Alberta and Shantell Morden of Calgary, Alberta, his Uncle, Trevor (Terry-Ann) Barker and Aunt, Cindy Dupuis of High River, Alberta; his cousins Robert (Kayla) Dupuis and Tyler Barker of Brant, Alberta. Keith had 8 nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly, Isaac Barker, Kaiden Main, Raegen Main, Tanisha Patrick, Tiana Morden, Carter Rouse, Seth Heiberg and Jace Coombs.

Keith was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on November 9, 1990. Keith was always smiling and

joking, he had a wonderful personality and joy for life. His nickname from his coworkers was “Babyface”, Keith loved his job and was very good at what he did. Keith was not liked but loved by all of his coworkers, he loved Fords and was working on rebuilding a Mustang with his father, Mark. Keith enjoyed video games, loved the Dukes of Hazzard and Sons of Anarchy. He loved playing with his nieces and nephews whenever he had the chance and he loved working on vehicles. Keith will be dearly missed by all the countless friends he made and all his family.

A Service of Remembrance will be held in the BARONS COMMUNITY HALL on Thursday, May 5th, 2016 at 1:00 P.M.

HUISING

PIETER HUISING, beloved husband of Jennie Huising of Lethbridge, passed away at the Fairmont Extendicare, on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the age of 93 years.

Besides his loving wife, Jennie, Pieter is survived by his children, Bert (Linda) Huising of Richmond, B.C., Alida Huising of Edmonton, AB., Gerda Dupasquier (Jim Thomas) of Spruce Grove, AB., MaryAnn (Deryl) Empson of St. Albert, AB and Jennifer Price of Medicine Hat, AB. as well as 10 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Holland.

Pieter was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters and a son-in-law Marcel Dupasquier.

Pieter was born September 16, 1922 in Holland and immigrated to Canada in 1959. He came to Lethbridge and was practicing in the accounting field. Pieter was very active in his church and was well respected. Upon his retirement, Pieter and Jennie spent wonderful winters in Florida. They loved camping in B.C. Pieter was a very loving and accepting person, who will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at ST. ANDREW’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1818 – 5 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Hugh Jack officiating.

In memory of Pieter, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317 – 10 Street South, Lethbridge, AB., T1J 2M7.
