BEREZAY

EVELYN JUNE (Orr) BEREZAY of Lethbridge passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the age of 84 years.

June is survived by her children Shirley (Albert) Gruninger of Del Bonita, Patsy (Russ) Storey of Laurel, MT, Janice Berezay of Choteau, MT, Monty Berezay of Lethbridge, Mick Berezay of Coutts, Robert (Susan) Berezay of Coutts, Patti Lamb of Barnwell; sisters Bernice Mattson of Calgary, Lynda Orr of Cardston, brother Larry (Linda Kearsley) Orr of Penticton, BC, David (Chris Leanga) Orr of Toronto, ON, and Lloyd (Lola) Sillito of Calgary, 22 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

June is predeceased by her sons Ricky Coombs and Don Berezay, parents Ken and Marie Orr, sister Georgia Kay Orr, and a great grandson Clay Card.

June’s earthly life was filled with music from the time she entered this world until the time she left. She inherited her ear for music from her Grandmother, and shared that love and gift of music with all generations of her family. She loved to play the accordion and piano. She was blessed with perfect pitch and was able to direct musical passages aurally. Much of her faithful service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life was through music.

She was always there for everyone. It wasn’t a question of whether or not she would go, she was there.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, FAIRMONT CHAPEL, 205 Fairmont Blvd. South, Lethbridge. Friends may meet the family prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment to follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Cardston Cemetery.


DEKLERK

ARIE DEKLERK, passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre, on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the age of 70 years.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 47 years on (May 2nd), Martha: his children: Sandra (Ted), Debra (Naz), Ken (Jodi) and Curtis (Catherine) and 11 grandchildren. In addition to his immediate family, he also enjoyed being the Canadian father to the many foreign students who stayed at their home.

Arie was the oldest son of Dirk and Aajge deKlerk and a brother to 10 siblings.

He devoted his life to his family, his church and most importantly to God. He made many friends through his open and generous nature.

God’s love shined through him in all areas of his life and he will be truly missed by many.

A Memorial Service will be held at MARANATHA CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 260 McGill Blvd. West, Lethbridge, AB., on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00 A.M.

Lloyd Flaws
1946 – 2016

Lloyd Charles Flaws, beloved husband of Lucy Flaws, passed away in Lethbridge on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the age of 69 years following a courageous five year battle with cancer.  Lloyd would have celebrated his seventieth birthday on May 8.

Besides Lucy, his loving wife of forty five years, Lloyd is survived by three children Jody (Jeanie) Flaws of Scarsdale, New York, Jerry (Carley) Flaws of Strathmore and Jeff Flaws of Calgary as well as his five treasured grandchildren Meghan, Liam, Paige, Lucas and Maxwell. Lloyd is also survived by ten siblings Bert (Janice) Flaws of Hays, Isabel Pakarno of Brooks, George (Sandy) Flaws of Hays, Anne (Lyle) Mooney of Coaldale, Darlene (Bill) McQuarrie of Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Agnes Flaws of Lethbridge, Heather (Howard) Campbell of Burdett, Doug (Bonnie) Flaws of Coaldale, John Flaws of Hays and Marilyn Flaws of Lethbridge as well as countless nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Isa Flaws as well as his brother-in-law Jerry Pakarno.
Lloyd was born in Gladstone, Manitoba in 1946.  He moved to Hays in 1957 when his family traded their land in Manitoba for irrigated farmland near Hays. Lloyd started working in the oil patch in 1966 and continued to work there for twenty seven years until purchasing farmland near his family farm in 1993. He loved farming and continued to care for and work the farm until moving to Coaldale in 2014. During his days on the farm, Lloyd could always be found tinkering on something or other in his quonset. Lloyd was very close to his family and would usually be accompanied by one brother or another. Lloyd was a quiet, humble and unassuming man of few words, but made a great impact on his family and friends. He was loyal, loving and kind until the end. He will be greatly missed.

GROSS

ANNA G. GROSS passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 5, 2016 with her loving family surrounding her at the age of 81.

Anna enjoyed knitting and was a tidy person. She was an Educational Assistant Kindergarten teacher and was enjoyed by all who knew her.

Anna is the daughter of George (Sarah) Gross and she has 9 brothers and 5 sisters. She is predeceased by two of her brothers and one of her sisters.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Big Bend Colony, Cardston, AB on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:30 am. Interment in the Big Bend Colony Cemetery.

Hilda Henry

1918 – 2016

Mrs. Hilda Henry of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Bob Henry Sr., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the age of 97 years. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for over 40 years. Hilda is survived by her brother George Davey; daughter Jan Henry; her son Bob Henry Jr; 4 grandchildren Tammy, Michelle, Nancy, and Scott; and 3 great-grandchildren Julia Porter and Evelyn & Tyler Ratke. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed. A private family service will be held at a later date.

HUNN

DARLENE STELLA “DENE” (nee KIRK) HUNN, beloved wife of Graham “Gerry” Robert Hunn, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016 at the age of 81 years.

Dene is survived by her four children: Richard (Dawn), Randy (Kathy), Auralee (Glen) Floberg and Kelley (John) Giesbrecht and son-in-law Ken Rogers; brothers and sisters: William (Linda) Kirk, Karen (Murray) Kirk, Wendy Kirk and sister-in-law, Lynn Kirk.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Laurie Ann Hunn-Rogers and her brother, Robert “Bud” Kirk,

Dene was born in Regina, Sask., on September 17, 1934. Her father was a member of the R.C.M.P. and the family resided in various towns in Saskatchewan.

Dene joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on October 6th, 1952 and served with 404 Squadron and the Maritime Air Operational Training Unit, 415 Squadron until her marriage to Gerry Hunn in Summerside, PEI, on May 1, 1954.

During their many postings throughout Canada, the U.S.A., Italy and The Netherlands and as a mother raising five children, Dene was active in supporting their activities in Scouting, Guiding, Camp Fire Girls of America and school organizations.

Dene was active in every parish and her home provided a place of relaxation for many priests, seminarians and F.C.J. Sisters. She was an active CWL member and was President at Calgary Forces Base, Calgary and Honorary President at Canadian Forces, Station Holberg, B.C., military parishes.

As a military wife, Dene was hostess to many Canadian, U.S. and NATO Senior Officers and Commanders and served as the Commonwealth Representative of the USAF Wives Club, Dayton, Ohio as well as the Canadian Delegate of the International Ladies Committee at Allied Forces Central Europe, Brunssum, The Netherlands.

Dene was a most caring person. She nursed her mother-in-law, Evelyn Hunn, following major cancer surgery; she was a Red Cross Nursing Volunteer in the US Air Force Hospital at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio; and she was a volunteer in the Post-Natal, Day Surgery and Day Procedures Units at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. Dene was a member of the Parish Council and as well continued her ministry to the sick as a member of the Assumption Parish Pastoral Team to the Regional Hospital.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Prayer Service at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta, on Monday, May 9th, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon Bill Young officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at ST. MARTHA’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 355 Columbia Blvd. West, Lethbridge, Alberta, on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Salvadore Ahumada, Celebrant.

Cremation.

WRIGHT

AUSTIN LUCAS WRIGHT, beloved son of Jasmine Wright (Tyler Hogan), passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the age of 9 months.

He will be sadly missed by all Jasmine and Tyler’s family and friends.
