William “Ed” Gorzitza
May 22, 1942 – June 3, 2016
He was the life of a party with his friends and relatives, the master of a campfire, a giddy Christmas spirit, and the friend everyone always wanted to have. He loved his family with an easy smile and a gentle way – whether it was letting his young daughters put barrettes in his hair or getting down on the ground to play block-building with his grandkids.
Husband, Dad, Brother, Uncle, and Grandpa, Ed left us after a seven-year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. A special thanks to all of Ed’s doctors, nurses, and caregivers. With their support he passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, June 3, 2016.
Born in Lethbridge, Ed had a lifelong career in the grocery industry. He will be missed by his wife Lois who walked hand in hand with him for 52 years, his children Debbie (Chris) Fields of Okotoks, Karen Gorzitza of Vernon, and Brenda Munnings of Lethbridge, his brother Fred (Marilyn) of Cold Lake, and his grandchildren Nicole and Ryan Fields, and Tyler Munnings.
Ed was pre-deceased by his parents Bill and Vera Gorzitza.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 St. S., Lethbridge, AB. A private family inurnment will be held prior to the memorial service in Archmount Cemetery.
In memory of Ed, donations may be made to the Parkinson Alberta Society (102, 5636 Burbank Crescent SE, Calgary, AB T2H 1Z6)
