GORDON FAWNS HEGGIE (86) passed away peacefully on July 27, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born January 8, 1930 in Raymond Alberta Canada to James Velv and Loretta May Fawns Heggie. KURUTZ
July 23rd, 1929 – July 19, 2016
MABLE MARGARET KURUTZ, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of John Kurutz for the last 65 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, knowing she was loved, at the St. Michael’s Health Centre, on Tuesday, July 19th, 2016 at the age of 86 years, four days short of her 87th Birthday.
Besides her loving husband, John, Mable is survived by her daughter Loretta (Lawrence) Craddock, her two grandchildren Tim (Dayna) Craddock and Kelly Jo Craddock (Bob White) and one great-grandchild Crosby Craddock. She is also survived by numerous extended relatives.
Mable was pre-deceased by her parents Joe and Mary Chollak, sister Helen and brother Eugene “Sonny”.
She was a patient, persevering, quiet and loving person who especially loved family gatherings; family was everything to Mable. She worked at a number of different jobs and was well liked at all of them. Mable’s days were consumed with her hobby of crocheting and knitting, which made many people happy with all of her creations. Mable won an award from the L.R.H. for her many volunteer hours spent knitting for the Neonatal Unit.
A Memorial Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB., on Saturday, August 6th, 2016 at 11:00 A.M., with Father Gary Sedgwick officiating. An Interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery.

POTTER
ANNE WILLIAMS POTTER was gently released from this life on July 26, 2016 at Fairmont Extendicare at the age of 98. She was predeceased by her husband Idwal “Ed†Potter, her parents William and Elizabeth Barclay, and four sisters. She is survived by two sons, Idwal “Ed†Potter (Bev) and David Potter (Bev), both of Lethbridge, as well as five grandchildren, Trevor, Cathy, Kim, Dawn, Lori, and eight great grandchildren. She was born in Rowley, AB on October 18, 1917. She married Ed in Drumheller, AB in 1935 and they moved to Lethbridge in 1960. She was a dedicated homemaker, volunteered for the Red Cross and Boy Scouts, and enjoyed golf and bridge. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff at Fairmont for the wonderful loving care she received. A private graveside service was held on July 29.
VEENLAND, Peter
September 16, 1925 – July 26, 2016
Peter Veenland, of Granum, passed away peacefully at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre on July 26, 2016 at age 90. Peter was born in Granum on September 16, 1925. He and his brother rode horses to country schools Balquhidder and Hollandale and finished in Granum. Later, he attended SAIT. Peter married Minnie Lantinga on July 3, 1947.
Peter farmed and ranched all of his life and was one of the original members of the Waldron Grazing Cooperative. He also grew commercial and registered seed oats and flax, which he sold at the Granum Seed Cleaning Plant. Peter also enjoyed curling and in the early 1960’s competed in the Brier curling play downs. Sadly, he was the last survivor of that competing curling team. He was also a whiz at word search puzzles. Together with his wife Minnie, they organized many bus trips in Canada and the USA.
Dad will be missed by his son Bryce; daughters Brenda (Menzo) and Cathy (Rod); as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Minnie; son Lorne; parents Joe and Tjitske Veenland; in-laws George and Alice Lantinga; nephews Douglas Mackintosh and Art Plewes; brother-in-law Lew Postman; as well as Minnie’s siblings Emmeline Mackintosh, Rita Plewes, Sebo Lantinga, George Lantinga and Margaret Lantinga.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Willow Creek Funeral Home (4079-1 Street West, Claresholm).
On Tuesday, August 9, 2016, interment will take place at the Granum Cemetery at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Service at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church (1818-5 Avenue South, Lethbridge) at 2:00 PM, with Reverend Hugh Jack officiating.

1933 – 2016
Mathilda Margareta Huvenaars, beloved wife of the late Bill Huvenaars, passed away in Taber on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the age of 82 years.

Tillie is survived by her daughter Anne (Rick) Donhauser of Calgary; daughter Marla (Ron) Forth of Chestermere and their children Sabrina, Calista and Veronica; son Ronald (Christiane) Huvenaars of Hays and their children Neal, Justine, Nevada and Owen; son Rodney (Beverly) Huvenaars of Hays and their son Jared. She is also survived by two sisters Greet (Jan) van den Brand and Fien (Gerard) van Asseldonk; two brothers Jan (Diny) van Kessel and Wim (Riek) van Kessel; sister-in-law Annie van Kessel all from the Netherlands as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were very special to her. There are many relatives and friends from the Huvenaars family both in the Netherlands and Canada that mourn Tillie’s passing.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill Huvenaars, parents Anna Maria and Cornelis van Kessel and brother Martien van Kessel.
Tillie was born on August 28, 1933 in Nistelrode, The Netherlands. She married Bill Huvenaars on May 1, 1958 and they immigrated to Canada that same year. They then moved to Wrentham before settling down on their farm in Hays in 1964. They continued farming until they retired to Taber in 1999. Mom was very proud of her children and loved her grandchildren dearly. She always enjoyed spending time with her family. Tillie will be sadly missed and always remembered.
