Mavis Turnbull
1927 – 2016
Mrs. Mavis Wilson Turnbull of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Peter Turnbull, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the age of 89 years. Mavis was born on May 26, 1927 in Lethbridge, Alberta to Olive and James Payne. She graduated from public school in Lethbridge, then furthered her education at the Northwest Institute of Medical Laboratory – X-ray Technician at Minneapolis, Minnesota. She worked as a Medical Laboratory X-ray Technician at Lloydminster, Blairemore, and Claresholm. Mavis married Peter on May 21, 1955 and they raised their children together. Besides her beloved husband Peter Turnbull, Mavis is survived by her daughter Kelley (Dan) Sorer of Grande Prairie, AB; 2 sons Russell (Jo-Anne) Turnbull of Grand Prairie and James Turnbull of Saskatoon, SK; her grandchildren Joshua and Lukas Sorer and Makena and Kaija Turnbull (Joanne’s children Laura Hughes, Crystal Furlong and Katie Coburn); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Mavis was predeceased by her parents Olive and James Payne; and her sister Iris Cook. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, September 12, 2016 at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH, 411 11 St S, Lethbridge, AB, with Canon Allan McCuaig officiating. A celebration to follow at 3:00pm, at the Royal Canadian Legion, 324 Mayor Magrath Dr S, Lethbridge, AB. Flowers are gratefully declined.
