Darcelle will be remembered most for how loving and caring she was — herself a lifelong caregiver — and as an especially devoted mother, wife, sister, friend and parishioner. She was a bright spot in the life of all who knew her. She never forgot a birthday or special occasion and had an uncanny ability to call or write just when you were beginning to feel down. He is survived by his loving wife Patsy, his brother Lloyd (Jean) and his sister Beryl (Lynn), four step-children; Mike (Lauren), Wendy (Sheldon), Paul (Kyra), Janice and six grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins.

Glen spent most of his life in Lethbridge and will be remembered as a skilled carpenter both in construction and with the Lethbridge School Division. LAWRENCE HENRY (BUN) SHUFLETOSKI

March 5, 1928 – September 18, 2016

Most everyone knew him as “Bun”. He was born in Shaunavon and spent his early years growing up on his parents’ farm in the Clear Valley district of Saskatchewan, south of Maple Creek. During his time at home, Bun worked hard and learned many skills working with machinery, horses, cattle, pigs and other farm animals. Bun attended grade school in Eastend Saskatchewan where he met his wife to be Marie Rittinger. Marie and Bun were married in March of 1949, and they soon moved to their own place a few miles west of Bun’s parents’ place. They hauled in old shacks to make their home and worked the land together. Bun was particularly proud of the horses he raised on his farm; some of them became good race horses. Bun and Marie became foster parents and as well hosted nephews and nieces for summer work vacations. Bun was known for his hard work, but remembered for his constant pranks like nailing lunch kits to the bench, hiding one of your shoes, encouraging a friend on a horse to jump a small hedge where there was a hornet nest or “buzzing” a neighbour on a tractor while flying in a friend’s plane. Not all of Bun’s pranks were received so well, like the times he would ride into town on horseback and shoot out the lights (literally).

In the fall of 1967, Bun and Marie decided to sell the farm and go west. Bun wasn’t sure exactly how far west they were going to go until they found themselves in Australia. The Australian vacation was not lengthy, however Bun talked of it often and related what a wonderful time he and Marie had enjoyed. Upon their return Bun and Marie moved to a ranch near Fort Macleod, Alberta, to Pincher Creek, then to Lethbridge where they made their home until 2002. During this time Bun raised horses, worked with his brother in-law building houses, was a maintenance man at a gas plant, a labourer at a chicken barn and a hired hand at a nearby farm.

They then retired to Seven Persons where Bun loved to fix up the house and yard spending many hours tinkering in the garage. As the years started catching up with them, they sold their house and moved into a retirement condo in Medicine Hat. In the spring of 2015, Bun lost Marie after 66 years of marriage.

Bun was predeceased by his wife Marie (nee Rittinger), father Frank, mother Ella (Otto), brother Lewis and sister Cecile Gallot. Left to mourn are his sister Ruth Dovell, sister in-law Vicky Shufletoski and many nieces and nephews. At Bun’s request there will be no service; interment will take place at a later date.
