GARDNER, Terrance

“Terry” Edward

1966 – 2017

Terry, treasured and devoted husband of Robin and amazing father of fur-children Barley and Chloe passed away peacefully on March 09, 2017 at the age of 50.

Terry excelled at anything he chose to and while starting out with Political Science and Law in University his aptitude and love of computers quickly turned into a twenty-eight year career with Information Management in the oil and gas sector before taking his early retirement in September 2015.

Terry had unwavering support for the Terry Fox Foundation, and participated in every run since 1986.

Terry met the love of his life Robin in 2007 and they sealed their love for each other on April 4, 2009. While their time together was short, their love for each other was spellbinding to all who knew them.

Terry loved to travel and his adventures took him around the world to Great Britain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Malaysia, Vietnam, Egypt, Venezuela, Hawaii and many more. Many of those trips were with his love Robin. He loved a good party and the many he hosted became legendary. His passion for politics never died and he enjoyed volunteering on many political campaigns and watching political debates. Those years in politics formed some of his closest friends who he treasured dearly. He also enjoyed collecting political pins from every province and party. But most of all he was proud of his library on Canadian politics, with his collection exceeding 900 books.

Terry was an intelligent, gentle and kind soul (except when playing Risk) who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Terry will be lovingly remember by the love of his life, Robin Platz; He also leaves behind his siblings Jerry (Kim) Gardner, Rick Gardner, Debra Gardner and Cheryl (Barry) Davidson; his brother-in-law Aron (Chelsie Skow) Platz; mother-in-Law Lorna (David Gowlland) Peacock; father-in-law Ron Platz; nieces Samantha, Chantelle, Jordyn, Lauren and Alyssa; and nephews Mike, Jeremy, Josh and Conner.

We would like to thank the effort, commitment and compassion of the many people who cared for Terry over the past twenty-one months.

Terry’s Grand Party will be held on Saturday April 29, 2017 in Calgary with details to follow. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Terry Fox Foundation, Unit D10, 6115 – 3 Street S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 2L2 Telephone: (403) 212-1336, http://www.terryfoxrun.org.
