Nellie Ban
1920 – 2017
Mrs. Nellie Ban of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Michael Ban, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the age of 96 years. Nellie was born in Pomorine Ternipol, Ukraine, the second of eight children. She immigrated to Canada in the early 1930’s with her family and homesteaded in the Coaldale area, where she attended school for a few years. In her earlier years, Nellie worked in the Galt Hospital. She met Michael Ban in early 1950 and together they moved to Ontario. Michael passed away in 1982 and Nellie moved back to Lethbridge shortly after. Nellie is survived by one sister, Mary Hoge of Granum, Alberta, two brothers, Anthony (Anne) Prosk of Lethbridge, and Edward Prosk (Sharlene) of Calgary, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Besides her loving husband, Michael, Nellie was predeceased by her sisters Stella Lubin and Bernice Prosk; brother-in-law Haven Hoge, brothers Lloyd (Ardelle) Prosk and Steve (Rose) Prosk. A private family service will be held in the Mountain View Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. HARRIS
IVAN BERNARR HARRIS of Taber, passed away peacefully on March 15th at the Taber Hospital at the age of 94. Bernarr was born and raised in Taber and lived his whole life on the original Harris family homestead. He spent his working life employed at the Sugar Factory in Taber as an Agricultural Fieldman, retiring in 1988. He also served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1947-1949.
Bernarr is survived by his loving wife Inez (Gibb) of 62 years, sons Dwight (Liana), Glade, and daughter Jennifer (Wilson) Landers, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister NaVee Wynder (Curtis), sisters-in-law, Betty Harris and Evelyn Harris. He was pre-deceased by his parents Ivan and Maude (Tufts) Harris, his sister, Joyce (Porter) Palmer, and by his brothers, Garth M. Harris, and Gary L. Harris.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 25th at 11:00 A.M. at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS, TABER STAKE CENTRE, Taber Alberta. A viewing will be held Friday March 24th from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Stake Centre, and on Saturday, from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. Interment will be at the Taber cemetery following the service.

LITCHFIELD
Ernest LeRoy (Roy) Litchfield passed away on March 20, 2017 in Magrath, AB at the age of 89 years. He was born in Raymond, AB to Ernest and Minnie (Burrows) Litchfield. He was the second of five children, and grew up surrounded by a large and close-knit extended family. He was predeceased by his first wife Barbara (Gray) Litchfield, and is survived by his daughters Carolyn (John), Beverly (Ian), and Gwen; son Jon; grandsons Justin and Thomas; and his wife Sue (Chorney) Litchfield. Roy graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in chemical engineering, and later went on to earn a diploma in business administration from the University of Western Ontario. He began his career working in the petro-chemical industry at Polymer Corp. in Sarnia, ON. He then took a job with the federal government at the Department of Regional Industrial Expansion in both Saskatoon and Ottawa where he worked until his retirement. Later, he and Sue relocated to Kelowna, BC before moving to Magrath in 2009. Roy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called as a missionary to the Eastern Canada Mission, and served the church in many capacities including bishop, counselor in stake presidency, regional welfare representative, family history consultant, and temple worker. Of particular note was his thoughtful and diligent service as a home teacher. Although Roy’s career saw him living in various parts of the country, he never lost his love for Southern Alberta. He always spoke fondly of his early life on the family farm and loved working at the Raymond Mercantile as a teen. His rural upbringing fostered an appreciation for the outdoors. Over the years he enjoyed a variety of activities such as camping, golf, photography, and was an ardent baseball fan. His yard was often admired, a result of his passion for gardening and landscaping. Friends and family were frequently treated to his abundant crop of tomatoes. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 27th, 2017 at 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Magrath Stake Center, 21 East 1 Ave S, Magrath. Friends may meet the family prior to the service at the church from 10:00 to 10:45am. Interment to follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Roy to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

Mr. Lloyd George Graff of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Pat Graff, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the age of 75 years. Besides his loving wife Pat, Lloyd is survived by his two sons Dale Lloyd (Joan Kathleen) Graff and Lyle Victor (Mary) Graff; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. “Heaven has found another Angel”
Lorraine passed away peacefully in Calgary on the first day of spring, surrounded by her beloved family. She is survived by six children, Les (Zdenka), Dan, Keith, Jack, Jim (Kris) and Trish (Steve), 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and her sister Wilda. She is predeceased by her husband – Donald, father – Bud Wain, mother – Florence, stepfather Earl Nowotny, brother Lawrence, sisters Shirley and Evelyne.
Born and raised in Barons, Alberta, she married her high school sweat-heart Don and began the process of raising a large, rambunctious brood with an easy grace and bright face, in spite of many financial hardships along the way. Love of family, her compassion for friends anyone in need (Harbour House being just one) was an inspiration to three generations, that will continue, far into the future.
The funeral service will be held at Southminister United Church, 1101, 4 Ave South (where she was also married on April 12, 1955) at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 25th. There will be no procession or burial services as Lorraine has donated her body to the University of Calgary in one final giving and unselfish act. A reception will be held at the Army and Navy Club at 517, 5 Ave South, from 1-4 o’clock in the afternoon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Harbour House Shelter for women, or the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Donation boxes will be set up at the funeral, or you can donate on-line.
