Anita “Joan” Jones
1936 – 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anita “Joan” Jones (nee White) of Lethbridge on March 25, 2017 at the age of 80 years. She is now reunited with her husband, David “Tubby” Jones, who passed away in 1967. Joan is survived by her two children; Cathy (Darcy) Fritz and Rob (Laurie) Jones; grandsons, Ryan (Jill), Logan (Beccy), Jason (Ahmani), Riley, as well as a great granddaughter Emma-Jean. She also left surviving her brothers Gary (Letty-Lynn) White and Brian White; sister-in-law’s Helen White, Ivy Chenger, Evelyn Jones as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Bill and Flossie White of Carmangay. AB, her oldest brother, Ben, of Lethbridge and many other beloved in-laws. Joan will forever be in our hearts and will be greatly missed. A special thanks to the Intensive Care Unit at Chinook Regional Hospital. In keeping with Joan’s wishes, a Graveside Service for family and close friends will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 27th at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY in Lethbridge. Jeanette Bareman, beloved wife of Marion Bareman, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the age of 59 years.

BENNETT
IRVIN JAMES BENNETT, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the age of 84 years.
Irvin was born May 16, 1932, on the family farm in Armada, Alberta to Albert and Nina Bennett. He shared his birthday with his twin sister Iva. He grew up on the farm and took over when he was 17 years old, after the death of his Dad. Irvin was a meticulous and diligent farmer up until he retired in 1992. Irvin never complained about his physical challenges in his last years. He accepted his Parkinsons with such grace and dignity, his cancer going undetected until just days before his passing.
His love of fishing, farming and golfing were second to his love of his family. Besides his loving wife Georgina, he is survived by his three daughters; Marla (Rob) Blackwell, Colleen, (Allan) Bartsch and Donna Bennett-Deitz (Keith). He was blessed with seven grandchildren; Christopher (Jana) Bartsch, Jennifer Bartsch Maki (Ryyan), Kimberley (Peter) Whyte, Ryan (Kelsie) Blackwell, Evan Deitz (Chelsey Kitaguchi), Gina Deitz, and Lisa Deitz (Aaron Dias); four great-grandchildren; Allyson, Andrew, Eliana and Cailin. Also, he is survived by his twin sister Iva (Ike deceased) Theissen, sisters-in-law; Muriel (Chuck deceased) Anderson, Janet (Don deceased) Whiteman, Betty (Max deceased) Hanna, Helen (Jack) Wieshlow; brothers-in-law, Ted (Sharon) Oakes, Bill (Onalee) Oakes and Bob (Faye) Oakes, Lloyd Sereda (Cheryl Oakes deceased), Al (Marg deceased) McCashew.
Irvin was predeceased by his older sister Ethel (passed in infancy), parents Albert and Nina (Langworthy) Bennett.

Aug. 24, 1930 – March 27, 2017
Henry passed away peacefully on March 27, 2017 of cancer. He was predeceased by his mother Helen, father Isaac and older brothers Leonard and Bert. He leaves behind his loving wife and cherished companion of forty years, Elizabeth; four step children, five grandchildren, and two great grandsons. Henry was born in Travers, Alberta to a small farming family where he worked the land until moving to Lethbridge in 1997. He fully retired from farming in 2002. Elizabeth and Henry spent the past two years in “The View” retirement residence where they made many friends and memories. Henry was the most generous, kind and thoughtful man who had time for anyone, even a stranger. He will always be loved and never forgotten. Henry will be laid to rest at Archmount Cemetery (2650 Westside Drive Lethbridge) on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers please donate to a cancer charity.

Elma Maxine Buckland
18 January 1929 – 28 March 2017
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother and grandmother who will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Maxine leaves behind her two loving children; Jane (Barton) Heine and Jerry Buckland; seven grandchildren; Laura (Tim) Pearce, Gordon (Bonnie) Heine, Daniel Buckland and David and Thomas Nearing. She cherished her time with her grandchildren and spent as much time as possible with them. She was a very kind, patient, and loving woman who will be dearly missed.
Maxine was predeceased by her daughter Diane Buckland, son in law Greg Nearing, daughter in law Elizabeth Buckland as well as her husband Paul Buckland.
Maxine began her life in Regina, and moved with her dad and siblings to Edmonton, after her mom passed away. She later met Paul Buckland and married in 1955 in Edmonton, and lived in several cities including Bay City, Michigan; London, Ontario; San Francisco, Montreal, and Calgary.
Maxine worked hard throughout her life. As an adult, she completed her high school diploma and began a career with Shell Oil in Calgary, where she worked for over seventeen years. She also completed an accounting diploma from SAIT during this time.
Maxine loved her family and friends and will be remembered for her heart-to-heart talks, walks, and wonderful cooking. She was warm, caring, had a quick wit, and made the best apple pie. Maxine was loved by many including her children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
Special thanks to Dr. Walsh for his continued care and to the Good Samaritans Park Meadows for the special care our mother received over the many years she lived there.
A Memorial Service will be held at ST. AUGUSTINE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 411-11th Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. with Canon James Robinson, officiating.
A Memorial Reception will also be held in Calgary later this spring.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Ona Gayle (Champney) (Smyke) Dunbrack. Ona was born in 1939 to Arnold and Ethel Champney and passed away March 26, 2017.
Ona was raised on a farm outside of Fort McLeod, Alberta near the small town of Orton with her three siblings Rita Binning (deceased), Arlene Litchfield and Lauchie Champney.
Ona Gayle is predeceased by her first husband (Buddy) Bud Smyke of Lundbreck, AB. Ona was lucky enough to remarry to Lloyd Dunbrack of Pincher Creek, AB who passed away in 1998. Bud and Ona’s children are: Crystal Smyke, Byron (Roxanne) Smyke, Kerry (Dawn Heerschap) Smyke, and Klayton Smyke; Ona’s grandchildren are: Carleen, Nikki, Rayne, Jess, Alisa, Blaise, Joel, Dezmon, Kaiden, and Aaryn Smyke, and Kyla, Katie and Kataya McClung
Ona was a “Tupperware” Manager for 29 years and enjoyed her job to the fullest. Ona’s love for her family was of the upmost importance as her family was her life. She loved gardening and would often be found “out admiring my kingdom”. Ona had a way about her that would always put a smile on your face. She loved music and dancing or, as she would say, “cutting a rug”. When she wasn’t spending time with her family or gardening, she could be found in her craft room sewing, painting ceramics, making dolls, quilting, and much more.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 10:00 am until 10:45 am, at the funeral service being held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, (1240 Wentworth Avenue, Pincher Creek) on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at the Orton Cemetery.

It is with sad and heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful daughter, sister, granddaughter Jamie Nicole Hunter, on March 20, 2017 at the age of 30 years. Jamie had a heart of gold and an infectious smile.

JENNINGS, Laverna Frances October 5, 1923 – Milk River, Alberta March 25, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta
Laverna, beloved wife of the late Edward (Tedd) Jennings, passed away on March 25, 2017 at the age of 93 years. Laverna was born in Milk River, AB and completed her schooling there, graduating with honours in 1941. She attended the U. of Alberta and graduated in 1944 with a B.Sc. in Home Economics. During her final year she was president of the Juanita Society, an academic women’s association which advocated to improve the status and conditions for women on campus. Laverna met her future husband Tedd during her first year of university; they reconnected in Calgary in 1946, after his service with the air force was complete, and were married in Calgary in 1948. They resided in Edmonton briefly while Tedd completed his geology degrees at U of Alberta. They moved to Calgary permanently in 1952. In 1954, she became an active member in many church, charity and volunteer groups in the newly created St. Pius X Parish which continued until her passing. Notably, she became a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer driver (45+ years), which in 2011 earned a nomination for the Volunteer-in-Profile leadership award, sponsored by CTV and the City of Calgary. Laverna lived for, and through, the joys of her sons and their families who will all miss her dearly, as will her many friends. She is survived by sons Barry (Susan) of Calgary and Jim (Nenna) of Anthem, AZ; grandchildren Vincent, Mike (Aiyana), Russ, and Chris (Katie), all of Calgary, Warren (Heather) of Duncan BC, Jeremy (Colleen) and Jennifer (Brian McManus) of Denver, CO, and Ashley (Doug Colbert) of Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren Ellysia, Fionna, Edison, Tristan, Finley, Jeren, Aiden, Ella, Austyn, Charlie and Carter. ALBERT TREVOR MILLWARD, beloved husband of Martha Montez Foggin Millward, passed away in Raymond on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the age of 77 years. Trevor was born August 14, 1939 to Frank and Dorothy Millward in Lethbridge, Alberta and was raised in the hamlet of Monarch, Alberta. His father, mother, and brother, Ronald, predeceased Trevor. Trevor worked in the manufactured home industry for many years as a line foreman and finished his career working for the Town of Magrath (his hometown), which allowed him to spend more time with his family and friends. Trevor and Martha were also entrepreneurs, setting up and operating 2 family businesses: MTM Garbage Hauling and Marty’s Draperies. Trevor leaves behind a loving wife, Martha Montez Foggin; 4 sons, Murray (Cheryl), Kelly (Tracy), Jason (Katherine), and Trevor (Tammy) Millward; and 13 grandchildren, Mackenzie, Brooklyn, Kaitlyn, Cannon & Mitchell Millward; Josie, Cooper, Rider Millward; Logan, Aiden Millward; Devin (Kelsey), Nash (Jazlyn Pitcher), Cloe Millward; and 1 great grandchild Axton Millward. He is also survived by his brother, Donald (Irene) Millward, brothers and sisters in-law, Mona Millward, Winona (Don) Thomas, Carl (LeAnne) Foggin, Lyle (Linda) Foggin, Bonita (Darrell) Chenoweth, Kim (Teresa) Foggin, Rod (Lisa) Foggin and many nephews and nieces.

MS. DONNA JEAN SZABO, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the St. Therese Villa on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the age of 78 years.
Donna is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Erin (Gerb) Hart, Debbie Werk (George Androkovich) and Kelly Szabo (Paul Kipnik); six grandchildren, Jen and Andrew, Michele and Jeff (Cheena) and Amber and Daniel (Britany); and seven great- grandchildren, Zane, Matilda, Nevaeh, Jerzee, Lyric, Leah and Damon. Other people that were dear to Donna’s heart were Bob Hughes (common-law husband of Janice Firth) and Ryan Process (father of four of her great- grandchildren).
Donna was predeceased by her mother and father, stepfather, sister Nola Colwell and her daughter Janice Firth as well as other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Donna was born on October 10, 1938 in Brantford, Ontario, one of two daughters of the late Cpl. George A. Fisher, Ethel E. Catherwood and stepfather Jack Fern.
Mom lived at St. Therese Villa for the past five years and made many friends with the staff and residents of the west wing. She felt like they were all family. She enjoyed bingo, crib, making school lunches and many other activities.
At Donna’s request, no formal funeral service will be held. A Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
I would like to say a very special thank you to the Kipnik family for making my mom feel so loved and a part of their family. I would also like to thank Michele Werk (Donna’s Granddaughter) for all of the help and support that she has given to me since Mom’s passing.
