WILLIAM “HENRY” SPENCER

Aug. 24, 1930 – March 27, 2017

Henry passed away peacefully on March 27, 2017 of cancer. He was predeceased by his mother Helen, father Isaac and older brothers Leonard and Bert. He leaves behind his loving wife and cherished companion of forty years, Elizabeth; four step children, five grandchildren, and two great grandsons. Henry was born in Travers, Alberta to a small farming family where he worked the land until moving to Lethbridge in 1997. He fully retired from farming in 2002. Elizabeth and Henry spent the past two years in “The View” retirement residence where they made many friends and memories. Henry was the most generous, kind and thoughtful man who had time for anyone, even a stranger. He will always be loved and never forgotten. RODNEY DENIS MARTIN 1953 – 2017

Rod, of Coaldale, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on March 20, 2017 at the age of 63. Rod will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Marianne, and their two daughters, Lesley (James) Marshalsay and Monica Martin plus his precious granddaughters Ruth and Thelma. He is also survived by his father, Les Martin and brothers, Barry (Lynn) of Calgary and Greg (Cathy) of Lethbridge. Brother-in-laws Pat (Sally) Wierzba and Grant (Claudia) Wierzba both of Calgary and Rick (Jane) Wierzba of Ponoka plus numerous nieces and nephews. Rod was predeceased by his mother, Doris, younger brother, Doug and nephew Cameron. Rod was born in Barrhead, Alberta. The family moved several times in his youth but he completed High School in Ponoka and pursued an Education degree at RedDeer College and the University of Alberta. He spent the last 37 years working in the Lethbridge area. Rod loved playing hockey in his youth and golf and curling in later years but any sport that was on TV was worth watching. The family would like to extend our appreciation to the Coaldale EMS, Lethbridge Regional Hospital, and the incredible, compassionate staff at the Foothills ICU. The family will be holding a private celebration of Rod’s life and would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers.
