KETTLES
Gertrude Florence Kettles (nee Evans), beloved wife of the late James “Jim” Kettles, passed away peacefully Monday, April 3, 2017 at the age of 99 years. A son Kenneth predeceased her, her sisters Annie, Ida, Ada and a brother George as well as her parents George and Elizabeth Evans.
Gertie, as she was known to friends, was born Dec 16, 1917 to the farming life in Bracken, Saskatchewan. She moved to Pincher Creek, Alberta to work for a family where she met and married Jim on April 5, 1939. Together they ranched and raised their two boys, Allan and Les, until 1963 when they sold the ranch and moved into Pincher Creek. She was very active in the community volunteering, was in the Lioness Club, the Rebeccas, and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She volunteered at the Pincher Creek Hospital “Tuck Shop”.
Nothing put a smile on her face like doing the things she loved: playing cards, dancing, curling, crafting, crocheting, cooking and gardening. Many ribbons were won at the Pincher Creek Fair for her quilts, afghans, gladiolas, homemade pies, jams and jellies. She always had an open door, a plentiful table and a generous heart.
A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and community member she was willing to lend a helping hand. Gertie will be missed by her sons Allan, Les (Lorene); Grandchildren Laura (Steve), James (Rhea), Jeff (Ang), Andrea (Scott), Brent and Kylie. She also has 11 great-grandchildren, Brianna, Sarah, Katrina, Matthew, Anna, Cameron, Ella, Isabel, Ruby, Aedon and Ethan, as well as her many friends, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Pincher Creek United Church on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 3:00 pm (972 Police Ave, Pincher Creek, Alberta). Marjorie Ross
1930 – 2017
Marjorie Elizabeth Ross (Volk), beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Ross, passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge on April 3rd, 2017 at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her sons; John (Kathy) and David (Lori), two grandchildren; Darren (Lanae) and Ryan as well as two great-grandchildren; William and Miranda. Number 9 of 10 siblings, she is survived by sisters Florence Thacker and Francis Wentz; predeceased by siblings John Heck, Frank Heck, Anton Heck, John Volk, Frank Volk, Anna Mary Hurt, and Marvin Volk. She was predeceased by her parents: Andrew and Anna Maria Volk of Burdett, AB. Marjorie graduated as a registered nurse from Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. Subsequently, working in Taber, AB; Powell River, BC; and at Vancouver General and St. Vincent’s hospitals in Vancouver, BC. She married Jack Ross in 1958 and raised her two sons in Lethbridge and on the family ranch in Aden, AB. She was a devoted wife, mother, family member, with many dear friends whom she adored. Marjorie was an accomplished athlete as a child and continued to be involved in many community activities including golf and bowling as well as her ‘Coffee Group’ of more than 40 years. Marjorie loved people and was fascinated with their personal stories and journeys. Marjorie was always kind, with a gentle soul and generous spirit. Her passing has left a hole in our hearts but her life has given us a guide. Her family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at the Chinook Regional Hospital, the nurses and staff of Fairmount Extendicare, the staff of The View, and the nurses and staff at Lethbridge Home Care Services, as well as many family and friends for their extraordinary kindness and generosity through this journey. ELIZABETH “BETH” GORDON SPROUL, beloved wife of the late Stanley Kennedy Sproul, passed away in Lethbridge, AB on Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 at the age of 92 years.
Beth was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB moving with her family to Lethbridge in 1967. She was an active member of McKillop United Church and the UCW for almost 50 years, and was also a member of the Maple Leaf Chapter No. 7, OES.
For the last four years of her life, her home was Martha’s House where she truly felt at home.
She is survived by her daughters Allison (Michael) Dixon of Winnipeg, Donna Brittner of Lethbridge, granddaughters Amanda Brittner, Melissa (Brad) Gillam and Amy (John) Cadman, and great-grandchildren Madeleine, Jackson, Elizabeth, Evan and Myles.
A Celebration of Elizabeth’s Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, April 7th, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. with the Reverend Trevor Potter officiating.

Kimberley Wiebe
1953 – 2017
Kimberley Joy Wiebe (Nee Milner). It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce her sudden passing on Thursday March 30th in her 64 years in Lethbridge, Alberta. Cherished daughter of Joyce Milner (Campbell) and the late John (Jack) Milner of Copper Cliff. Kim was born in Sudbury and spent her formative years attending Copper Cliff Public School and Lively District Secondary School. She graduated from Laurentian University in 1976. Like many young people Kim went west, initially settled in Edmonton where she worked as a Social Worker for the Department of Social Services with the Government of Alberta. Kim met and married Wilfred Wiebe in 1982. She is survived and will be missed and lovingly remembered by her precious daughter Kaitlyn (Cole), her sisters Brenda Desjardins (the late Guy), Barbara Horne (Ron) and brother David. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews Bethany, Danielle, Nathan, Ethan, Rachael, and great nephew Kyler. The family would like to acknowledge and thank all the Wiebe family members who have supported and cared for Kim over the years. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service and Internment in the family plot will take place in the early summer of 2017 in Sudbury, Ontario. Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many room; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you and I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14 1-4.
