It is with very heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Del Dahl, beloved husband, brother, father, and papa. Del passed away peacefully with his loving family and friends by his side at St. Michaels Palliative Care on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the age of 54 years after a two year long battle with cancer.
Delmore Roy Dahl was born on June 28, 1962 in Blairmore, Alberta. He was adopted by his mom and dad in Lethbridge in 1963 and his sister joined in 1965, making their family complete. They enjoyed spending many days at the family cabin at Beauvais lake.
Dad enjoyed playing hockey, baseball and football. His passion for sports continued as he supported his children in each new sport they tried. If he wasn’t coaching, he was in the stands cheering. In his spare time he enjoyed surrounding himself with his abundance of friends and family. He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews as they were his sunshine.
Del is survived by his wife, Kelly Dahl; his children Erik Dahl (Lucy), Mac Dahl (Andy), Kelsey (Russ) Burgess; his grandchildren Charlotte Dahl and RJ Burgess; his sister Dixie (Wyatt) Pickering; his mother and father in-law, Bill and Gail Simpson; his brothers and sister-in-law Jim (Svetlana) Simpson, Roger (Briane) Simpson, Catherine Edwards; his numerous nieces and nephews Andrew (Teri) Pickering, Jason (Debbie) Pickering, Justin Fisher (Nicole), Braidyn, Lucas, Griffin, Billie, Liam, and Nadia Simpson; and his great nieces and nephews Aaliyah, Lilith and Jeramy Pickering.
He was predeceased by his father and mother, Lawrence and Agnes Dahl.
Family was Del’s most prized possession. He had a heart of gold and his love for his entire family radiated in everything he did. We will cherish and hold every memory close to our heart, until we meet again.
Special thank you to Dr. Michael Cunningham, Dr. Walsh and the palliative care team, and St. Michaels for the wonderful care provided to our dad.
Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service held at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 13th, 2017 at SALMON & SONS FUNERAL HOME LTD, 433 Stubb Ross Road South, Lethbridge (entrance to the airport).
