DAVIDS, David Edwards October 12, 1917 – June 11, 2017

On June 11, 2017 David “Dave” Davids passed away at the age of 99 years.

Dave was a multi-talented individual, distinguishing himself both as a musician and as a scientist. His first instrument was violin, and he then took up the trumpet so that he could perform in dance bands during the 1940’s. After graduating from the University of Alberta with a major in Agriculture, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II, first as a bandsman in what became the North West Air Command Band, then transferred to bacteriological research in the later stages of the war. He mustered out of the RCAF with the rank of Warrant Officer I. He continued his research career with Canada’s Defence Research Board at laboratories at Suffield, Alberta and Kingston, Ontario.

David is survived by his son, Cary Davids (Carol Gilbert) of Lisle, IL, daughter, Leslie Arkin (Talon Arkin) of Turkey, son, Lorne Davids (Peggy McKernan) of Edmonton; and daughter, Ellen Beck (Richard Beck) of Vancouver. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Ruth Davids (Shragge)

PEGGY LORRAINE HANDSAEME, beloved wife of Bill Handsaeme, of Lethbridge, AB, fell asleep at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the age of 63 years.

A Funeral Service will be held at the COLLEGE DRIVE COMMUNITY CHURCH – 2710 College Dr S, Lethbridge, AB on Wednesday, June 14th, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. with Dan Sargent officiating.

Following the Funeral Service Peggy will be laid to rest at Archmount Cemetery with a reception to take place afterwards at the Coast Hotel & Conference Centre – 526 Mayor Magrath Dr S, Lethbridge, AB.

John (Jack) Hector Morrison

1932 – 2017

Mr. John (Jack) Morrison of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Elaine Morrison, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the age of 85 years. He was a loving father to Rob (Marie), Barry (Audrey), Marilyn (Joe), Vicki (Paul). He leaves behind Grandchildren: Jessica (Sheridan), Lindsay (Mike), Cary (Pamela), Chris (Angele), Kadie (Matthew), Taylor, Madison and Carter as well as Great Grandchildren: Katryna, Sienna, Kyler, Emmett and Rory. Jack predeceases his siblings Donald Morrison, Jeanette MacQuarrie, and Milton (Loretta) Morrison. Jack’s love of nature led him to a career as a Fish and Wildlife Officer for 28 years. His other endeavours included Telegraph Operator for the Canadian Pacific Railway and farming in the Handhills area. He was a social and active man who was deeply involved with his family. He loved fishing, collecting model trains, and building and flying model airplanes. He also enjoyed helping neighbours, friends, and anyone who needed assistance. His family and friends will always remember him as a caring loving person. He will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street, South, Lethbridge, AB with Reverend Trevor Potter officiating.

TAMMINGA

JANNA TAMMINGA, beloved wife of Willem “Bill” Tamminga, of Picture Butte, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the age of 85 years.

Along with her husband Willem of 62 years, Janna is lovingly remembered by her children; Jan (Rosanne) and their children, Jan (Mackenzie), Jennifer (Charlie), Jeremy and Jason; Peter; Grace (Doug) and their children Kayli (Chad), Mackenzie (Heather) and Anthony (Alicia); Brian (Rose) and their children Kyle, Breea and Spencer; Arthur (Darcy Visser) and his children Larissa and Rebecca; Therecia (Dave) and their children Cody and Carlin; as well as two great-grandchildren, Riley and Levi Tamminga.

She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters and one brother.

Janna was born to Blijke and Pieter Jan Nienhuis on January 16, 1932 on her family farm in Bedum Netherlands, the third of nine children.

She grew up in Holland and went to school in Bedum. Janna met her future husband, Willem Tamminga, when he was working for her father. They started dating in 1950 upon his return from the Indonesian War. Janna and Willem married on February 9, 1955 in Bedum then immigrated to Canada in April 1955. They traveled by boat to Canada then by train to Lethbridge where they were driven to Nieboer’s farm to start their new life.

Janna was a loving and devoted homemaker. She enjoyed the outdoors and tending her beautiful gardens. Janna was skilled with her hands and made beautiful needlework creations that are cherished by her family. She especially enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and supported them in their many endeavors. Janna also took great pride in painting all of her children’s first homes as well as many others.

A Celebration of Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Frank deBoer officiating.

VAN CAMP

DON VAN CAMP, beloved husband of Kathy Leavitt, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 10th, 2017 at the age of 66 years.

Along with his wife, he is lovingly remembered by his children, Brady (Kendra), Clayton (Mikayla) and Jessie (Jordan) Van Camp, stepchildren Marty (Becky) and Chad (Jada) Leavitt and their families, brother Dana (Hilda) and their children, David and Adam Van Camp as well as nephew Chris Quantock.

Don was predeceased by his parents, Donald and June (nee Brown) Van Camp as well as his sister, Sue Van Camp-Quantock.

A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 1:00 P.M.
