Frederick Thomas Wood
November 26, 1919 -July 10, 2017
Frederick Thomas Wood, 97, Washington, Utah passed away Monday, July 10, 2017.
Fred was born November 26, 1919 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to Fred and Mary (Udall) Wood. He had one sister, Murial (Bob) Arthur, Vancouver, British Columbia, who is deceased.
Fred was a Canadian Army Dental Technician during WWll and graduated from the University of Toronto Dental school in 1950 at the top of his class.
He married Nessie Bannerman August 14, 1945, who preceded him in death on November 23, 1982. Throughout their married years, he and Nessie lived in Lethbridge, Alberta raising four sons.
Following his retirement, he married Lucille Miller Waite January 29, 1983 and shortly thereafter relocated to North Ogden, Utah. Lucille passed away in January, 2000. He later married Qu’Appelle Gibbons in July of 2000. Fred and Qu’Appelle eventually settled permanently in the Canyon Cove Community of Washington, Utah ready to escape the North Ogden winters. Qu’Appelle passed away in August of 2010.
Fred was preceded in death by a son, Brian Lloyd Wood on March 11, 1996.
Surviving sons are Kevin (Claudia), LaPorte, lndiana; Kent (Laura), Nelson, British Columbia; Gary (Ann), lvins, Utah. He was blessed with grandchildren: Sarah, Zoe, Asa, Nora, Jenna, Russell, Morgan and Matthew. He was then extremely blessed with 7 great-grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his lifelong passion for gardening and possessing an uncanny green thumb, for his thousands of amazing photographs created by his incredible photographic eye, for his soaring trumpet solos, and, of course, proudly designating himself “captain” of the Wood family waterskiing boat. But perhaps his greatest passion was his unending desire to help others.
Fred was a lifelong member of the LDS community.
Fred requested that there be no visitation or funeral services. A private family gathering will be held graveside Monday, July 17,2017.
