1924 – IKE BISHOP – 2017
Alma “Ike” Ellsworth Bishop, beloved husband of Florence Bishop of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017 at the age of 93 years. Ike also leaves to cherish his memory five sons, Rex (Linda), Lynn (Stacy), Mark, Donald and Kevin (Corilee); his son-in-law, Glen Ross; 26 grandchildren; 75 great grandchildren; two brothers, Stan (Ardene) and Ed (Janice); brother and sisters-in-law, Geri (Ed) Lanz, Larry (Tammy) Lippert and Mary Lippert and their families. 1919 – 2017
With deep sadness the family of Hilda Irene Eberle announce the passing of a dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother, in Taber on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the age of 98 years.
She leaves to mourn her only daughter Patricia (Glen) Hanson of Taber; her grandsons T.J. (Sandra) Hanson of Lethbridge, Trevis (Melissa) Hanson of Okotoks and her great grandchildren Hayden, Maiya and Lincoln.
She was predeceased by her husband John Eberle in 1999 and by four sisters.
Hilda had many passions and friends and all that knew her will surely remember her with a smile.

Golden Miller Harker, beloved husband of Arlene passed away on Tuesday, August 22nd at the age of 90 years old. Golden was born in Magrath July 9, 1927. He is the last surviving child of Earl and Elma Harker’s eight children. He is survived by his wife, six children Lynne (Bernie) Kenny, Renae (Guy) Hambly, Sandra (Earl) Pierson, Shirley (Randy) Bowden, Carole (Jeff) Rogers, Greg (Heather) Harker, 22 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He loved all things to do with farming, horses and John Deere tractors. His smile, handshake and sense of humor brought joy to everyone who met him. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at the Raymond Hospital for their kind and gentle care. It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Tyler Maerz announces his sudden death on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the age of 27. Those left to mourn are his beautiful daughter, Charlie Singh; Mom Linda (Ben) Schmold; Dad Tim (Sonya) Maerz; two sisters Ashley (Dan) DeBoer and Brittany (Chandler Braun) Maerz; step-siblings Ashley (Cox) Gosselin and Rebecca (Cox) Chapman, Kim Riley (Schmold) & Derek Schmold, and Max Brierley; Grandparents Luke (Siny) Van Paassen, Helen Bouw, Ben Sr. & Mary Schmold, Henry & Linda Antkowiak; Nieces & Nephews Brady, Logan & Addison DeBoer, Sawyer & Lincoln Braun, and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Tyler was predeceased by his Grandparents John & Grace Pauls; step-dad Shane Cox; and uncle Neil Van Paassen. Tyler was born in Taber, AB on February 16, 1990. The family later moved to Coaldale and he attended St. Joseph’s and R.I. Baker and graduated from Kate Andrews High School. Tyler was very active in sports and excelled in all he participated in. After graduation, Tyler started his apprenticeship at Bill’s Electric, then spent 6 years with Deltec before recently taking employment with Neu-Lite Electric. For the past three seasons, Tyler enjoyed playing softball and would quite often have his little Charlie “Brown” along to cheer him on. Tyler had a very caring, fun-loving personality and made friends easily. To some of his friends, he was known as “Wolfman”, for good reason. His visits, laughter, and raucous sense of humour will be greatly missed by all, especially the phone calls starting with “What’s up” and that beer placed in your hand with “Tell me a story” to follow. MILOS
FRANK MILOS, beloved husband of Lillian Milos, of Lethbridge and formerly of Lomond, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017 at the age of 81 years.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children Denise (Jeff) Williamson, Kevin (Nola) Milos, Bryan (Loretta) Milos, Tami Milos and Jason (Teresa) Milos as well as 12 granddaughters and one grandson. Frank is also survived by brother Joe (Mary-Ann) Milos, sister Mary Stoperski, sister-in-law Sharon Milos and brother-in-law Leonard (Darlene) Chogi.
Frank was predeceased by his eldest son Darren, parents Joseph and Mary Milos, twin brother Steve Milos and father and mother-in-law Alex and Emma Chogi.

Mrs. Erna Parker (nee Eirich) was born on the family farm in Saskatchewan on October 13, 1925, and passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the Legacy Lodge, Lethbridge, AB, at the age of 91 years. Erna was predeceased by her parents; her husband Stan Parker; brothers Otto, Art, Herb, and toddler Reinhold; sister Ella Canham; sisters-in-law Barbara Eirich and Irene Eirich. To cherish her memory, she is survived by her brother Emil (Carmen); sister, Helen (Jim Cocks); sisters-in-law Betty Eirich and Ann Parker; brother-in-law Rod Canham; step-children, Kevin Parker & Catherine Wright; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. POMAHAC
GUY ANTHONY POMAHAC, of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the age of 61 years, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
Guy was a life-long educator, serving for 32 years in the Lethbridge School District, where he taught Science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics), Physical Education, Career and Technology Studies, At-Risk Alternative Education and a variety of Option Programs. He also served as a Faculty Associate in the Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge for 3 years from 2006 to 2009. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education from the University of Lethbridge, and was working towards his Ph.D. in Education from the University of Calgary. His students will remember him as a teacher who genuinely cared for them, and who recognized their potential and expected their very best efforts. Guy was an internationally recognized athlete. He was a member of Canada’s national judo team, and continued to be an active coach with the Lethbridge Kyodokan Judo Club right up to the time of his passing. He was inducted to both the University of Lethbridge Pronghorn Hall of Fame and the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame. In addition to judo, Guy was passionate about hockey, lacrosse and golf. Guy had deep love of music, from classical to blues, and loved to dance. He was outgoing and had a knack for striking up friendships wherever he went. He touched so many lives as a teacher, an athlete, a coach and a friend, and he will be sorely missed throughout Alberta and beyond. Guy was predeceased by his parents, his brother Greg, and his sister Monica.
His loss will be most deeply felt by his son Joshua and his daughter Taylor.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 – 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB with Father Kevin Tumback, Celebrant.
A Reception and Celebration of Guy’s Life will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Assumption Church Hall.

1938 – 2017
The Final Strikeout
It is with heavy hearts that the family of MERVIN SHANKLAND announce his peaceful passing, surrounded by his family at the St. Michael’s Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit on Monday, August 21, 2017 at the age of 79 years.
Mervin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to so many. Mervin is survived by his beloved wife Gerri, sons Kevin (Jennien) and Kurt, grandchildren Nicolas (Anna) and Taylyn (Brandy), brother Harvey (Ruth), sister Eunice and his extended family, the McQueens of Saskatchewan.
He will be remembered in many circles as the “Ace Chucker” – The veteran pitcher for the Lethbridge Niseis, Flyers and the Crighton Cubs. Mervin lived his life like he played ball, to the fullest, always, with love and respect for his family and friends.
A Celebration of Mervin’s Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Kevin Tumback officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mervin’s name to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Alberta Diabetes Foundation, or Lethbridge Minor League Baseball.
