ELAINE PHYLLIS ODEGARD, of Picture Butte, beloved wife of the late Arnold Odegard, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the age of 74 years.

She is the loving mother of Grant (Colleen Hankinson) Odegard of Lethbridge and Carolyn (Russ) Wlad of Red Deer. She will be lovingly remembered by her grand-daughters Carley, Robyn and Regan Wlad. Elaine is also survived by her brother Allan Egland and nieces, nephews and many great life-long friends.

Elaine was recently predeceased by her husband Arnold on November 11, 2017. She was also predeceased by her parents Richard and Phyllis Egland and her stepmother Hazel Egland.

Elaine was born and raised on the family farm east of Carmangay, Alberta. Mom and dad became friends in grade 1 at the Barrhill School north of Picture Butte; they were high school sweet hearts and were married July 23, 1963. They spent 54 wonderful years together until dad recently passed away due to cancer.

Their entire life was spent on the farm and ranch north of Picture Butte. They built a beautiful yard and home from scratch, planting 4000 trees on their property along with being next to a small lake that is a haven for all wildlife in the area. Mom’s pride and joy was her huge garden and gorgeous yard, she created an oasis for all to enjoy.

She always looked forward to a visit from anyone, especially her granddaughters, grandma and grandpa’s farm was their favourite place. Mom was the greatest and kindest lady you could meet; her loss will deeply impact all who knew her. We truly believe mom was sent to heaven early because dad couldn’t be without her.

So pour a glass of wine, sit back and think about Elaine, because she is thinking about all of you.
