BROUSSEAU

Our DAVID passed away quietly in his sleep at home on February 7th, 2018 at the age of 39 after a year long struggle with lung and heart issues.

We believe he might say “Hey you!… Don’t be sad for me. I’ve had a good life surrounded by love and I have gone to be with Jesus.”

He was predeceased by his Grandma and Grandpa Lane and Grandma and Grandpa Brousseau.

David is survived by his parents, Barb and Rick Sera of Coalhurst and Louis and Jean Brousseau of Airdrie, his sisters Denise Holland (Mike) of Lethbridge, Catherine Sera (Reece Beach) of Quesnel, Danielle Sera of Coalhurst, his Grandparents Zoltan and Ann Sera of Lethbridge and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

His patience, tolerance and determination to accept and adapt to his physical and mental limitations was an inspiration to those who knew and loved him. Along with an impish sense of humor and awesome laugh and smile, he often made those around him forget their worries and struggles and laugh with him.

David was born in Brooks, Alberta, on Jan. 6, 1979 and moved to Lethbridge when he was seven where he resided, in a Rehoboth Christian Ministries group home with two roommates, until his passing. He attended special needs programs at St Mary’s, St Francis and CCH until graduation with his peers, as an honorary graduate, when he was nineteen. After that, with the help of amazing staff and his family, he was very active in the community. He went swimming, bowling and to handicapped riding, volunteered with the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign, went to the shelter to pet the dogs and cats and occasionally helped to fill food hampers at the Food Bank. David enjoyed being around people, attending many functions, shows and attractions within and around Lethbridge.

His family is especially grateful to all of the people who helped David live such a full and happy life; his teachers and aides through school, all the doctors and nurses when he was sick or in the hospital and all the people who helped us access services to make sure he had what he needed to be healthy and active.

To all of David’s roommates, Rehoboth and all of the staff that worked with David through his life – you are not just people who cared for him; to us and David, you are also… Family.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to Rehoboth Christian Ministries, 340 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 3L7, The Lung Association, #208, 17420 Stony Plain Rd.
