MARGARET LAKATOS

March 4, 1925

February 10, 2018

Our beloved mom and nagymama passed away peacefully in her sleep after a courageous struggle with dementia.

Margaret was born in Hungary and came to Canada with her husband, son, daughter and niece in 1957, after the Hungarian Revolution in 1956, settling in the Picture Butte area after arriving in Canada.

Nagymama loved her family and friends with all her heart and soul. She spent many hours tending to her flower garden and her vegetable garden, which she loved. She was incredibly hard working and so strong, never sitting for long before carrying on with some other task, usually outside. She enjoyed camping and cooking, she was an amazing cook! Getting all of us to dance and sing with her gave her great joy.

She was the loving Mom of Steve (Carol) and Ann and the very special nagymama to Peggy and her children Tyler and Nicole, Frank (Kathy) and his daughter Jillian, and Carrie (Brian) and their children Chloee and Lazlo, John Ress, Jim Ress and Susan Ress and her daughter Krystal.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband Bert, her mother Julia, her brother Janos, sisters Ilona and Boszi, her son-in-law Frank Szing, her niece Jolan Thompson and son-in-law Ben Vredegoor.

A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations toward the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories, #40, 1202 – 2nd Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0E3 would be greatly appreciated.
