JACOB CUMMINGS & KELLY-ANN CUMMINGS (BRUISEDHEAD) passed away suddenly on Friday, April 20, 2018 in Calgary, AB

Relatives and friends are invited to Wake Services at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. with Tributes being given at 7:00 P.M.

Funeral Services will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. with cremation to follow the service.

In memory of Kelly-ann and Jacob, and in respect to Delilah, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Children’s Hospital, 2888 Shaganappi Trail N.W., Calgary, AB, T3B 6A8, who continue to care for Kelly-ann’s five year old niece who was also injured in the motor vehicle accident.

Mr. Conner Ebbert of Lethbridge, beloved companion and best friend of Mrs. Joyce Owen, passed away at Edith Cavell Care Centre on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the age of 91 years. Conner was predeceased by his wife June Ebbert in 2000.

Peter Regier

1923 – 2018

Mr. Peter Regier of Coaldale, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Annie Regier, passed away at Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the age 94 years.

Peter Regier was born December 16, 1923 in the village of Ebenfeld in the Crimea, Russia to Peter and Margaret (nee Dueck) Regier. They immigrated to Canada when Peter was 6 years old, landing in Halifax on April 13, 1930. They travelled by train to Winnipeg, and then south to Winkler, MB. In the spring of 1931, they moved to Coaldale, AB. He attended school till he was 15. He was a huge help to his Dad on the farm. Peter attended the Coaldale Bible School for 3 years starting in 1941. It was while attending Bible School that he gave his life to Jesus and was baptized. He served time working in the forests of Whitecourt and Jasper as a conscientious objector during World War II. He married Annie Thiessen on May 30, 1946. Together they farmed and had almost 69 years together.

Peter leaves to mourn six children and their families. John (Mary Lou) Regier, Jack (Lil) Regier, Anne (Gilbert) Sperling, Joy (Alvin) Thielmann, Lue (Tim) Wiens, and Larry (Jolayne) Regier. Grandchildren: Jenny (Brian) Doerksen, Rusty (Sandy) Regier, Justin (Rachelle) Regier, Jordie Regier, Melissa (Josh) Friesen, Craig (Krysten) Sperling, Scott (Rachael) Sperling, Kerri (Landon) Schedlosky, Lane (Mikaela) Thielmann, Katelyn Thielmann, Jay Thielmann, Kyle (Cloe) Wiens, Jason (girlfriend Tressa) Wiens, Kendell (Jill) Wiens, Brianna Regier, Riley (Tanis) Regier and Jodi Regier. Great-grandchildren: Zak, Bailey and Kaycee Doerksen, Apryl and Matt Regier, Emmett and Rhett Regier, Jace and Wyatt Friesen, Walker, Hudson and Sadie Sperling and Lukas and Lyla Wiens. Peter also leaves to mourn three sisters and one brother. Lydia (John) Thiessen, Elizabeth (John) Loewen, Anne (Henry) Siebert, and John (Katie) Regier. His wife Annie predeceased him in April 2015.

Family and Friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:30pm and 8:30pm on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street S., Lethbridge, Alberta.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the COALDALE MENNONITE BRETHREN CHURCH, 2114 – 18 Street, Coaldale, Alberta, with Pastor Gary Burke officiating. Burial will take place prior at 10:00am in the Coaldale Mennonite Cemetery.

Memorial donations in Peter’s name may be made to Gideon’s Bibles, c/o John Regier, 2225 – 27 Avenue S., Lethbridge, Alberta, T1K 6K5.

SELK

DONALD “CLARK” SELK “checked-in to this world” on July 9, 1948 in Pincher Creek. He “checked-out of this world” on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit at the age of 69 years.

SZNERCH

IRENE MARIA SZNERCH, beloved wife of the late Michael Sznerch, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Wednesday April 25, 2018 at the age of 93 years.

Irene was born on July 12, 1924 to Maria and Josef Ptak in Krakow, Poland. She was the oldest of six children, all girls. Being the oldest, she took care of her five younger sisters until the age of 15 when she began working as a nanny in Krakow, during the war.

Irene met the love of her life Michael, at a birthday party and they were married on November 24, 1946. In 1961 they immigrated to Canada with their two children, Kaz and Grazyna. She worked at St. Michaels Hospital for many years and upon retirement, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Irene belonged to the Polish Association of Lethbridge and attended many dinners and dances at the Polish Hall. She also belonged to the CWL at Assumption Parish. Irene enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking and there were many happy family gatherings. Her canned pickles and homemade soups were appreciated by all. Friends were always welcome and no one could leave without tasting her home baking.

She is survived by her son, Kaz (Betty) Sznerch and her daughter, Grazyna (Chris) Kolodziej of Lethbridge; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren: Jeff (Cindy) Sznerch and their children Callie, Logan and Cameron; Michelle (Justin) Dormer and their children Katharine and Charlotte; Shannon (Jorn) Lawson; Darren (Christina) Sznerch and their children Brityn and Cruize; Andrea (Michael) Salmon and their children Joshua and Damian; Ryan Kolodziej and Max Boutin-Caron. She is also survived by two sisters: Marysia Slenczek of Poland and Hania (Josef) Widla of Toronto as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Irene was predeceased by her loving husband Michael, in 2016, her parents and three sisters in Poland.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Sailendra, Dr. Thibodeau, Dr. Mitshali and the staff of 5B at Chinook Regional Hospital for their compassionate care. A special thank you to Dr. Clair Forestell for his kindness and many years of loving care.

A Prayer Service will be held at SALMON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME 433 Stubb Ross Road South Lethbridge (entrance to the airport), on Wednesday May 2, 2018 at 7:00 P.M., with Sharon Hagel officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be held at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 – 12th Avenue South, Lethbridge, on Thursday May 3, 2018 at 9:00 A.M., with Father Lukas Drapal as Celebrant. A private family interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
